I don’t know about craziest BUT I’ll put the kettle on to boil, and walk around the block twice to let it heat and then cool a little to make coffee. I can even manage three walks around the block. Do that twice a day and it adds up!!

I just started 20K steps a day after 3 months of walking daily, increasing to 10K then 12k. I never needed to lose weight but 15-20k steps a day surprisingly requires A LOT of discipline to show up every single day. Self love is discipline. Discipline equals freedom. My mental health has never been better. I’m happy every single day I rarely get upset or down like before. Previously I was very sad most days. I’m way more motivated in other areas of my life. I sleep a lot better. I can’t name anything it doesn’t improve but the benefits in some areas are truly life changing. It saved my life.

20k steps a day is amazing isn't it? I used to do it in 2021 (I was walking to work and back from someone else's house and walking in my lunch break too, so was walking for 3 hours a day Monday to Friday..
I've never been as happy before or since.
I also lost 3 dress sizes in 6 weeks eating 1500 calories of my usual plant exclusive diet (food matters, not just amount of calories, but types of food, as processed foods cause insulin resistance and stop weight loss, a plant exclusive diet gets rid of that)

I agree 100% with the walk and wake strategy. The first walk of the day feels the best in my opinion, and it’s so easy and enjoyable to crank out 2-3 miles in the morning. Whereas the other walks later in the day are definitely more of “chores” and activities that require more commitment and discipline.

Thanks for sharing! Yes, I can definitely relate to this. The first morning walk is just divine ☀️ 🥰

Morning walks are the best of the day because it raises beta endorphin, which is our brain and body's natural painkiller. So doing it before anything happens in the day is a protective thing too, beta endorphin protects us against the pain that life can bring (bad news and things like that which we aren't expecting). It makes us more resilient. It's pretty much pointless to only walk at night, as the effects only last until midnight. Technically they stay in the system for 3 days, but we only actively feel the protection of them on the day. Why only get the benefits of the beta ehdorphin for a few hours when we can have it all day

4:46 Your comments about how walking can be conducive to brainstorming called to mind the Peripatetics, who were the school of philosophers who followed the teachings of Aristotle. "peripatos" in Attic Greek means "walkway" (literally, place for walking around), and the Peripatetic school was named either for the many walkways on the campus of Aristotle's school, the Lyceum, or from Aristotle's famous habit of lecturing while walking around. Consequently, your advice has some wise and ancient origins!

Thanks for your question! I’m sorry to hear that you’re not able to go outside! That sounds very frustrating. Are you able to get a walking pad of some kind?
Walking pads are my favorite way to get my steps in at home. I often work or watch movies while I walk. And they can be relatively affordable. :)
If this is not an option, I would personally try to have some dance parties in my home. It’s a great way to move and have fun-even in small spaces.

Thanks for sharing! It can indeed be difficult to carve out the time to walk. A treadmill desk is such a game changer! It will make 15k seem easy. There are some very compact ones on Amazon that are also lightweight and easy to move around. That’s what I currently have :) But bigger picture: 10k is already wonderful! Exact steps don’t matter too much; creating a lifelong habit of walking is what counts. :)
