BRIGHT SIDE 3.5 miles per day over here. Being out in nature and doing something good for your body refreshed your mind, body and soul. I love it! #walkwithconviction
Take up street or landscape photography. You will walk for miles and not even know you have.I have shed probably 2 thirds of my weight without changing my diet or deliberately exercising
I am 84 and had a heart attack 25 years ago. I walk 90 miles a month and it drives away depression. I am in better health than I have ever been. I have 60 BPM pulse, 119 chloresterol. My doctor calls me his hero. You just cannot be unhappy watching the sunrise and listening to Aretha Franklin R_E_S_P_E_C_T. I love life and surround myself with fun people.
@@susangeorge8551 I am no hero. I just found what works for me. I do volunteer work and I get more out of my efforts than the people I help. Life just does not get better than this.
I am 24 years old and currently over 18 stone. Last year my mental health hit rock bottom.. Last week I decided to ditch the antidepressants and get out walking on my own for 40-50 mins a day. Already I am feeling so much better and cried for the first time in years just at how much happier I am feeling (And possibly the side effects of not being on meds). I hope somebody reads this and makes the same decision I did- You can do it. Joe.
Oh yes! Today I walked 5 miles in 1 hour and 15 minutes at 4.2 miles per hour. 61 years old. Been doing this since 2017. My Dad used to walk all the time. He passed away in 2017 at 88 years old. Every step I take is in his memory. Love you Dad.♥️
When I retired at 60 years old I started walking at 3 miles a day. I am 90 years old and try to walk at least 1 mile a day. It’s not as much as previous but it’s better than nothing.
I go wallking every night for 40 minutes. My girlfriend of 4 years broke up with me yesterday and my heart is broken but I still pushed through my 40 minute walk tonight. I cried most of the way at first but I felt better after the walk. I hope walking helps the pain of my broken heart go away. Update: So it's been nearly a year since this post and I found out a few months ago I wasn't just broken up with. I was being cheated on for about 4 months. I thought she was it and was gonna marry this woman but I dodged a bullet, I guess. She would have cheated on me eventually. I am still walking every day and I am seeing a therapist because she really did a number on my self esteem. Thank you all for all your supportive comments and encouragement. I am 60 pounds down and I don't think I would have had the strength to carry on with this weight loss if she hadn't shattered my heart because I only started walking to help me cope with the sadness of the breakup. I suppose everything happens for a reason.
Jessie Palermo i also started daily walking after my husband passed away. It does help me sleep at night and my depression. Also i lost weight from 90kg to 75 kg in 3months of daily walking.
I have a disabled parent. I live next-door to her. If I don’t get my walk in, I start to feel crazy. LOL. I love to look at flowers. There I go with my great funk and great thoughts. Nothing like a good walk to clear your mind, and to remind you that the seasons will change no matter what.
I was at 380lbs and over 57 BMI. I have severe osteoarthritis and literally no cartilage left in either knee. Im gone on a diet and am walking for 5 minutes at a time but I am walking 10 times a day for 5 minutes and am already feeling loads better. in less than 2 weeks I've lost 16 lbs and I feel like this could be finally be it for me. A better life here I come!
Congratulations!!! I have been sedentary so long that walking up and down steps is a chore. I was trying to walk up and down five steps (seven times) even that makes me short of breath. I'm going to walk in place and then march in place and I'm believing there will be a vast improvement. I weigh almost 300lbs around 280-290lbs. I want to lose 1-2 lbs a week. I'll see how it goes.
Yess! I am 210 pounds I just started walking15,000 steps a day a week ago and I’ve lost 10 pounds. By eating healthy and small portions and drinking lots of water im excited

I quit smoking about 6 months ago and I didn’t know how to deal with the cravings, so I started walking. Now I walk about 1 hour everyday and I feel great. I don’t get tired easy, my mind is at ease and I don’t crave cigarettes anymore. I enjoy my walks more.
If you want to stop the cravings, maybe listen to the book “The easy way to Stop smoking” by Allen Carr. The book might sound strange but I stopped them without any cravings ( maybe 2 days out of already 90). But also the walking is great for you!
You can do it buddy! I've been free from smoking for almost 2 years the first 3 months was very challenging you need to have a activity for replacement. Most important thing is to pray for guidance and portection.
I started walking last year, at the beginning of pandemic. A buddy and I walk 4 miles a day takes about 1hr in half max. Lost 30 lbs in a lil over 3 months. I'm down about 50 lbs now over a yr later went from a 42 waist to now a 38!
Sarah Strong HaHa. I thought the same thing!! “A nice walk is going to get her just healthy enough to survive the ambulance drive but she is still going to be DOA when she reaches the hospital. So she gets an extra 15 min of really painful life? Stay out of the middle of the road!”
I've been walking for a year now, two miles a day most days (once in a while I take a day off). Much to my surprise, my medical results have been better. My othamologist tells me that the pressure on my optic nerve has receded so I won't need drops to avoid glaucoma, and my regular doctor informed me that my lung capacity has improved dramatically. I am now a believer!
I've been walking 10,000 steps before 10am Monday-Friday, by the end of the day I am averaging 15,000-19,000 steps. My body has literally been transforming before my eyes each week!
Been walking 3-5 fives times per week for over 30 minutes each time for the last 5 years. I was 20 and now 25. I am a TOTALLY different person now, physically and mentally. Hard work always pays off.
My mum is 99 years young. She walks every single day. The other day she said she walked for 2-1/2 hours. I was told it's not how far you walk that counts. It's how long you walk. I walk every day. Look at the birds, the trees, the surroundings and breathe. I just enjoy walking. It's easy, free and cheap. 🚶♀️🚶♀️🚶♀️🚶♀️. Thanks for the great upload👍👍👍
I recently found this beautiful park with walking trails. They are even marked 1/2 mile or one mile. Do as many Laps as I want in a safe environment. Where I live the people drive up on sidewalks or drive into things constantly I’m in a senior development and it’s dangerous to walk.
I am trying to start walking more - sometimes I walk on the weekends but it’s just rlly time consuming (apart from that I don’t have a problem I with it)
I have diagnosed PTSD from being in a war while in the military. For 10 years I lived a very unhealthy lifestyle. About two years ago I weighed 445 pounds. One day, something clicked in me and I realized I had enough. I went outside and went for a walk. I didn't do 30 minutes because I physically couldn't. But each day I went out and gradually increased how much I walked. Now, two years later, I have lost over 200 pounds and I am walking 2 hours every morning. I've changed my diet and I have a social life with friends and family. Walking not only changed my life, but it saved my life in ways no medication ever could. My advice to anyone who wants it: Start small and don't give up. Just walk around the block. Build yourself up to that first mile. And, before you know it, you will be doing 7, 8....15 miles every day. Just don't give up.
Thank for your service, very inspiring story, im only 12. Its nice to know people in this world can always change for the better. Good luck to u and your journey.
I've been walking about 15km a day for over a year now, it's honestly the best thing I've ever done. I always come back in a great mood from a walk even if I left feeling stressed and down. I can eat basically whatever I like and have a stable weight. I would highly recommend for anyone to fit as much walking into your day as you can, it's a game-changer 🙌
How long does it take you? It used to take me 50 minutes to walk 5km to school. I walked pretty slow but, I imagine if your doing it for fun you'd probably walk a bit faster
I lost 90 pounds in about a year walking daily. When I started, I weighed over 500 lbs and could only manage walking about 5 minutes at a time. I'd get about 3000 steps. By the time I got to 90 lbs lost, my walking improved to around 8000 steps daily and could walk for about 45 minutes at a time.
Bro! Congratulations. It's incredible. You should be very proud. Are you still walking? I hope so. I know it's hard to stay active. I have high hopes for anyone who wants to be better. Keep pushing. Stay healthy have fun. Big smiles.
Hello, my wife and I walk 10 kilometres 5/6 days per week. Including the benefits listed, it provides a solid platform to share, discuss and manifest. The relationship grows, married for 25 years.🙏🏼
I’m at 23 yrs of marriage, we both like to exercise but never together. I like your story and will work on getting my husband and I together! Thanks for sharing!
My husband and I just started doing this. It’s fun. My husband likes to talk a lot and I am better able to pay attention when I am walking. It is very nice.
I used to walk 1-2 hours a night. It didn't start for health reasons. I was just bored. It's also where I always came up with all of my best ideas (I'm a guitarist, and aspiring singer-songwriter).
Hi. I think it’s really cool how your working to become a guitarist. I’m an aspiring game developer and I started walking for the same reason, and found out it helps me come up with ideas, and I’m currently working on a game with a friend.
i started walking 12000 steps daily on 1st august and my weight was 101kg, and now after 3 months my weight is 85kg, and i feel way more active nd happy
My aunt was told by her Doctor to walk 5 miles a day for a week and to call him and let him know how she felt at the end of the week. My aunt called her Doctor and said 'I feel great but now I'm 35 miles from home..'
I just started walking a couple of weeks ago because of this quarantine. I now have two neighbors that walk with me twice daily. We walk over ten thousand steps a day. I am 64 and feel better than I have in years.
I've been walking for the past 18 months, I'm amazed how much peace and calm walking brings to my mind and body, I recommend it for managing mental health. 😊👍
I did exactly what the video suggested during my lunch hour for the past 2.5 years and believe me it's been the best thing for my health. I was able to maintain my weight and still had the energy to do my work.
My husband and I walk a mile or more every day it’s not raining. I have lost 20 lbs since mid August and he has lost 6. I started before he did. Looking great again at age 65! Got my figure back and he can’t stop looking!
I've been a Postman for 4 months now, walking 15 miles or more a day. Unbelievable weight loss and positive impacts on mental health as well as physical health, no gym no running, just walking. Obviously it's quite a lot more than general as its work, but still.
It’s always wonderful when you get paid to exercise, super added bonus. I was a chef for 35 years it was a full body workout in the heat! 63 now walk every day a minimum of 2 miles in the morning, but by the end of the day are usually have five Miles in. Not looking for weight loss I’ve been the same size pretty much. I always love the energy it gives me.

It's been almost a year since I started walking 7k steps a day and can't reiterate much how much it has helped me to keep myself fit. Now without a walk, my body feels lethargic. I am going to continue this for years to come. Cheers!
I walk 29,000 steps a day and I used to be a heavyset guy. I was 305lbs, now I’m 235lbs going down to 195lbs… walking is a REAL THING! I feel healthy and amazing 🤩

I am 58 and gave up my car during quarantine. I work from home and walk everywhere. I'm using the money I save without car insurance and maintenance to repaint my house and finally start a retirement fund. (better late than never.)
Me too from depression i got used to sitting all day, and not eating enough, ever since i upped my protein and started walking for an hour every morning i can finally fall asleep around 9 or 10 instead of midnight
About a year ago, I started walking with a Fitbit, goal of 12k steps per day. By doing this and eating better most of the time, I lost about 30 lbs in around 6 months time. I now can't stand going a day without a 30 minute walk. It's part of my daily routine and very relaxing part of my evenings.
My mother in law did lots of walking every day but sadly age 80 she passed away with vascular dementia and an embolism. I have started walking 30 minutes a day on my treadmill, not very fast (3.3) but it’s a start. I’ve been type1 diabetic for 50 years (I’m 60)! ❤
I'm 65 years old I've been walking for 25 years almost every day.. I was a distance runner in my youth. I have a 6-pack and am in better shape than anyone my age that I've ever met. Works for me!
I was in an abusive marriage for 25 years, I am 55 years old. The last years in the marriage were horrible. I filed for divorce a year and a half ago. I haven't been able to finalize the divorce, he is a horrible man. While I was married I was suffering from a lot of stomach issues, headaches insomnia and my bones were hurting. I began walking my dogs for 15 minutes everyday a year and half ago. I am up to walking 60 minutes everyday. I have lost 25 pounds and people tell me I look ten years younger. Mentally I am stronger now, no more depression. Walking has literally saved my life and my sanity. You just have to make walking a habit a part of what you do everyday. I am a school teacher and as tired as I get from work, I get home and head out to walk my dogs. I have completed my first walkathon. It's never too late to start taking care of yourself. I ma very glad I started walking.
I started walking at 377 lbs a year ago, doing a mile a day for a few months. I then increased my walks to 2-3 miles a day, throwing in one 6 mile walk and a couple 5 mile walks. I just recently started walking 3 miles a day and will keep it consistent for another couple months. I am now 306 lbs and my goal weight is 205-210 lbs. I do plan on going to the gym, but for now, walking has benefited me greatly. Update: I am now 248 lbs! The journey isn't over yet and I won't stop until I reach my goal.
Walking and exersize great but Diet is most important You need to find what works best for you. Just adding exersize will only take off so much and turn the rest to musle or not even effect it. walking is a wonderful thing so is the right foods.
I have been walking ever since I started walking myself home from school. Even when people used to make fun of me including family members…I’m healthy and happy! I’ve had those same people watch their health deteriorate and then tell me later on that they should’ve been walking with me. ❤❤❤to walking!
During the current pandemic, I've taken up walking. It has simply saved my life. It is one of the reasons I'm still here x In the beginning, I was just laying in bed at times and pretty much without any motivation and just wanting to wither away. Now I'm feeling stronger , more confident and believing in myself ❤
I walked more than 10000 steps a day... i used to be so obese 151kgs and when i start walking everyday i lost 60kgs of weight... i never been happier now and i managed to overcome all the sickness... this video just so useful...
I walk daily 6000 steps to 10000. This is my favorite exercise because it's so simple,no extreme effort and most of all, for me, it's addicting because I don't feel any pain afterwards.

On the days that I don't play golf, I go to the local park and walk 5 miles. I used to be able to do it in less than 90 minutes, but lately I'm up to about 95 minutes. Must be getting old! Anyway, I feel better at 80 than I did when I first retired at 57. So glad that I am still physically able to walk. Strongly recommend it.
I'm 24 and my work has me in a chair most of the day. I have recently developed moderate to severe back pain as well as sciatica running through my left leg. Walking daily around 30-45 minutes has literally been a life saver. My lower back pain is barely noticeable now.

I've suffered with depression for years. Its so important to go outside to be under the beautiful nature, get some sonshine and exercise your muscles. You can lose muscle memory. Because of my depression its so important to me to force myself to get out and walk..its a way of encouraging Me and to help prevent deep depression we could really lose our mind and hope and never return from that. So yes walking is very important for a healthy mind bodt and soul. May God grant us the will to be great Stewarts over all He's blessed us with. There ate so many people that would love to have legs to walk.God bless us all.

I used to work from home. One time I realised that I did not leave the house for 3 days. I then decided to get a dog so I can be forced to get out of the house on a daily basis. I now walk a minimum of 3 miles every day with the second dog. This was one of the best life decisions I’ve made.
@@georgechrome4735 I apologize for the confusion. We wanted a dog for about a decade. We were both professionals with limited time spent at home and we did not think it would be fair to leave the dog alone all day long so we kept on postponing our decision. I walk (1 - 2.5 hours 5 - 6 days) a week, I don't think I could have survived from my brutal depression without walking, I'm addicted to it now and its my friend, yeah a real friend!
Arkan Hi Just curious if walking really does help with Depression? I’ve been dealing with it for about 5 yrs now. Have tried every antidepressant but to no avail. How often did you walk & for how long? Thanks for any advice you can give me! 😊
lucy girl Hi. I think i can answer. It is good to walk about 5 km a day. I did it regularily from university to home. 5 days a week. But it is also possible to do it less often but longer distances. I did tours approx 2 times a month for at least 35 km. Ant ot still worked greatly on health. The effects are multiplied if you discover new beautiful places. Such tour has strength of any any anti depreßing medicine used. At least from positive symptpms. Funny thing is that you would get better even if your situation is not better. So happines need not to have rational basis other than walking.
I began exercising today ✌💞👍💥💯💞 One of my sons paid a personal trainer. I just didn't know how to start. Will work out twice a day. And the other days of the week, I will walk for 45 minutes. My children are so happy I'm doing this. And so am I 😊 I hope for the best!!
Dude, I walk every day and that is the single best thing you can do to your body to get fit naturally. I got six pack 24/7 all around the year. so I vouch for this video. cheers!!
I'm 53. I'm about 5'9" tall. I was up to 210lb. I started walking. I live in an area with a lot of hills. Since January 18th of 2018 I've walked over 714 miles. I'm down to 182.5lb . I'm in Oregon, lot of rain and I am really bummed when I can't walk. My record day was over 26000 steps. I try to do at least 10,000 on any day I can walk. Oh, that 714+ miles equates to over 1,541,784 steps. Yes, I have a device in addition to my phone which tracks steps. I hope to get down to around 175 or maybe even 165lb. Update: Just updated the original post to reflect where I'm at now.
Good going Man! I use a fitbit charge hr to track my steps and I almost always get around 14-15k steps a day (I'm a high school student) who walks 1.5 miles to reach his classes and I can honestly feel the difference vs when I use to take busses.
When I want to stretch my walking for a couple of extra KM. I switch on to some of my favorite music and I will be easily able to achieve my target without pain.
Walking is definitely a part of my life. In 2014 when I started walking 2 miles a day I weighed 273 lbs. One year later with a combination of better diet and increased walking I went down to 165 lbs. It's now 2021 and I walk on average 9 miles a day 6 days a week and the weight is still off. While for a time I walked on a treadmill at the gym, I now walk outside and enjoy listening to music and enjoying the sunshine. It's something everyone can do, even if it's just a little.
@@DogMommy. honestly you can. I was killing myself at the gym and doing crazy diets like Keto. As soon as I got off the diet I gained it all back and then some. I had to take a break from the gym due to injuries. I started walking only & no snacking before or after meals (intermittent fasting) and I lost weight easier, faster and more enjoyable.
@@DogMommy. The important thing IMO to remember is to start slow, but enough to push yourself. It's amazing how your endurance goes up after not long and the payoff is worth it. Best yet it's something you can keep doing. I'm 71 and walking 10 miles a day is both satisfying and effective.
I love walking as I walked every lunch break during the 30 years I worked. Even now on retirement since 2011 I’ve continue to walk 10k steps daily. Shall turn 78 in August, it’s the best gift one can give to one self.
I started walking after work each day around a local lake, about 2.5 mi. It was beautiful. When the season changed and it was too dark, I went indoors. In front of the tv I have an exercycle. It uses my arms and legs, and my heart and lungs. I slowly worked up to 90 min a day. I've been doing it for about ten years now. I feel great. I'm 71 yr, 5'11", 145 lb. I hope to grow to be old. I'm still enjoying life. Best wishes to all.

But also the walking is great for you!
congrats !
You can do it buddy! I've been free from smoking for almost 2 years the first 3 months was very challenging you need to have a activity for replacement. Most important thing is to pray for guidance and portection.

I salute you. You're a real inspiration. Thanx for sharing.
Thank you for your service! I just wish it was worth it. Good luck to you with your journey. Stay healthy!

15 km? That is impressive I couldn't even imagine doing that every day

What's your result now? I'm experiencing same issues due to 9 to 6 work on chair laptop!
I love walking. It’s a huge anti depressant and I feel so good after walking. I aim for 10,000 steps per day.
Brent Ten I have a Pacer, and I passed 10,000 steps each day, I just started and I love it, and you're right it does help depression just want to put my two cents in have a great evening
@@leahthomas5003 where do you get a walking step counter from and what brand is reliable? I am reading all these comments and everyone saying they walk 10000 and 20000 steps. What does that equate to in miles? Thks

I used to walk b4 my kids and frm past 2 years I hvnt walk gain 82kg this is motivation I'll start walking fr an hour daily.. Wish me luck
Best of luck.
I've suffered with depression for years. Its so important to go outside to be under the beautiful nature, get some sonshine and exercise your muscles. You can lose muscle memory. Because of my depression its so important to me to force myself to get out and walk..its a way of encouraging
Me and to help prevent deep depression we could really lose our mind and hope and never return from that. So yes walking is very important for a healthy mind bodt and soul. May God grant us the will to be great Stewarts over all He's blessed us with. There ate so many people that would love to have legs to walk.God bless us all.
@Rhys’s Lowlux because He loves her. Look how she's still praising God even after she went through depression. People would never understand unless they experience the relationship themselves.

I've been walking at least 20,000 steps a day for the past 16mths and lost 12kgs. It's great for my mental health as well as my physical fitness. I used to find it hard to stay motivated but now it's become a way of life and l can't imagine not walking every day.
Just started walking yesterday 30 minutes everyday to start my goal is an hour two weeks from now. Gained over 40 pounds during this quarantine. I want to be happier and less depressed. Will update 6 months from now.

I started walking daily for last 10 days and have started getting a sound sleep. I agree with all the benifits mentioned in the video. Thanks.
I used to work from home. One time I realised that I did not leave the house for 3 days. I then decided to get a dog so I can be forced to get out of the house on a daily basis. I now walk a minimum of 3 miles every day with the second dog. This was one of the best life decisions I’ve made.
Lucky dog! Mine only gets about a mile a day with me
to anyone, pls don't get a dog if you do not really love animals... taking care of animals is a commitment.
@@georgechrome4735 I apologize for the confusion. We wanted a dog for about a decade. We were both professionals with limited time spent at home and we did not think it would be fair to leave the dog alone all day long so we kept on postponing our decision. When I started telecommuting we could finally have a dog at home with me 24x7.. We loved our first dog and adore the second dog; both rescued dogs that saved us. We treat our dogs as our kids. I simply wanted to provide one of the many benefits dogs offer.
@@beas3993 Thanks for clarifying Bea! 💜

I just adopted a walking routine after leading a VERY SEDENTARY life. We shall see what 30 minutes of walking every day will do...🙏🏾🖤👸🏾
I’m curious if it has helped. I need to get going soon!
@@4Score747 YES!!! IT WORKS!!! I have steadily lost weight & kept it off even though I eat junk food!🙏🏾👌🏾👍🏾
That's what I need to do. Getting a little exercise and dropping at least 40 pounds will help me (eating a better diet will also help me).

How are you doing now? Did you stick to the routine?
I walk (1 - 2.5 hours 5 - 6 days) a week, I don't think I could have survived from my brutal depression without walking, I'm addicted to it now and its my friend, yeah a real friend!

Arkan I agree 100%! It's my friend as well
Arkan Hi Just curious if walking really does help with Depression? I’ve been dealing with it for about 5 yrs now. Have tried every antidepressant but to no avail. How often did you walk & for how long? Thanks for any advice you can give me! 😊
i feel the same way you do.steve in Clearwater,fl.
lucy girl Hi.
I'm 72 right now and I am walking about 15 km mostly 6 times a week. I feel great .
I walk a lot, eat right, and also exercise and my body is healthy af. 😊💯

Dude, I walk every day and that is the single best thing you can do to your body to get fit naturally. I got six pack 24/7 all around the year. so I vouch for this video. cheers!!
Wow that's great!
You get six pack abs from just walking or doing other exercise as well?
Update: Just updated the original post to reflect where I'm at now.
good job!!
Congatulations!
Good going Man! I use a fitbit charge hr to track my steps and I almost always get around 14-15k steps a day (I'm a high school student) who walks 1.5 miles to reach his classes and I can honestly feel the difference vs when I use to take busses.
Well done keep it up.
Great job doing that! I can see you with the rain, Florida gets a bunch of minor storms all over the place.
I’ve been walking for over 20 years. Usually around 30-90 minutes listening to tunes and observing the sunset. Just spices up my life
Music is the reason why I'm obsessed with walking. It makes me want to walk if the music I'm listening to is LIT.
Yes!!! Walking and listening to music is the best. 🎶🚶🏾♀️

So you really can loose weight by walking? I'm going to start. I want a better life 😫
Very amazing! Well done keeping it going.
@@DogMommy. honestly you can.

How long do you walk each day and how many days of the week
I love walking as I walked every lunch break during the 30 years I worked. Even now on retirement since 2011 I’ve continue to walk 10k steps daily. Shall turn 78 in August, it’s the best gift one can give to one self.
Walking 3 miles a day after back surgery has improved my pain, calmed my mind and toned my body. I adore walking!
Watching this while walking and I can't stop smiling. I'm proud of myself
I started walking 12000 plus steps a day and it greatly enhanced my mood, digestion, muscle definition and brain functionality.
Walking is the best man’s medicine. The most accurate thing I’ve ever heard.
