Sitting down with not just one but two of the most influential Running Backs in the league, today Pivot episode is story of how two men from completely different backgrounds landed on same team competing for same position and ended up becoming family.
Detroit’s Jamaal Williams and Green Bay’s Aaron Jones sit with Ryan, Channing, and Fred for a conversation covering their football journey, growing as men on and off the field and how loss of loved ones has shaped their story.
For four seasons, Aaron and Jamaal were constants in the Green Bay Packers backfield before Jamaal settled for a two-year deal with the NFC North rival Detroit Lions in 2021. Aaron and Jamaal describe their relationship as more of “brothers” than friends.
Fred and Channing curiously ask how they maintained the brotherhood despite competing for same role on same team and even now that they are on rival teams. Jamaal talks about how the decision to leave Green Bay to go to the Lions was hard but in the end had to do what was best for him and his family.
One commonality that Aaron and Jamaal bonded over and share was having influential male figures in their life. For Aaron, his father and for Jamaal, it was his uncle/trainer. In an emotional conversation, Aaron and Jamaal open up about the recent loss of these men in their lives and how it’s affected them and changed their course of life.
Fred, someone both backs have looked up to, leans into the upbringing Aaron had as a military child and the influence his parents had on him as he discusses this past NFL season being an emotional rollercoaster due to grieving and his first without his father.
Ryan commends Jamaal on his recent breakout season with the Lions and talks with the young back about his emotional interviews this past year and dealing with so much emotion while playing football.
With one of the major NFL offseason storylines tracking where QB Aaron Rodgers lands, Aaron Jones talks about his teammate’s leadership and drive pushed him to be a better player on the field and understand more the impact of winning and how to handle disappointment. Jones said he doesn’t want to see Rodgers leave but is prepared for what the team may be like with his absence.
Similarly, Jamal says he’s received that same motivation from coach Dan Campbell and shares stories of his dual approach to get the team fired up.
With a trio of running backs sitting together, you know the show can’t end without Fred asking who their top 5 RBs currently in the league are and why.
Tap in every Tuesday at noon eastern for our premiere episode of the Pivot. Special drops on Friday afternoons at 3:30 pm. We are your one-stop platform for all your sports and entertainment content.

Jamaal a real one. Always be true to yourself. As an introvert nerd myself, I felt every word he said. We're misunderstood. Even though we don't call or hang out all the time it's all love. Respect us for who we are, anime and all. Jamaal is truly my brother from another mother. Stay humble and down to earth loved one.

@@boston1976 Definitely into sports also, part of the running back fraternity. I was looked at as the "athlete" in my younger days but I was never comfortable being defined by sports when I have so much more to offer. I feel like Jamaal will do great things after football.

I think so many people relate to Jamaal more than the hosts think. Im a introvert and I have my time where I go out to be social, but I also have my time where I like to spend time by myself. People may not understand that just because we are by ourselves, that doesn’t mean we are lonely, we just like to spend some time to ourselves. We also need time to charge up from the socializing we’ve been doing out there lol.

I felt both of their pain regarding to their losses, because I just lost my grandmother which was like my mother accept she didn't go into labor o. order for me to be here, but she labored for me to be who I am today. Then her sister passed within 30 days almost exact of one another 💔, so the end of the year and the beginning of this year has been a battle. I was crying with Jamal when he was crying@ the end of the game... that's a hurt that won't easily go away. I have to give Aaron his love for wearing the T for having Aaron Sombrero, because when I transported Green Bay to their game in Chicago and he came out of the hotel wearing that hat and I saw that it was a black man wearing that sombrero hat I was wondering what was going on🫣, but now I know.😂 It looked good on him too, just threw me off initially when I first saw it. It saddens me that when the world sees a black man it doesn't assume that he's anything like these brothers. They just want to lump us into a negative category as if we are all the same. Why not assume that we are all like these guys until proven otherwise??? These young men were who they are their whole lives. The money and Prestige of the NFL didn't make them who they are as people. There's good and bad in every bunch. So when you see two exceptional young black men don't think that it's an anomaly because it's not. God Bless

The HUMANITY of the PIVOT is immeasurable, and once again it is on display. I do not care for the episodes with CELEBRITIES or so-called, just down-to-earth, genuine human beings like Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams, who share a real bond and fondness for one another.

I wish y'all could understand how important Aaron Jones is to the El Paso sports community. Future NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year. Wonderful to see him re-up with Green Bay and solidify his place amongst the top RBs in the league today. Keep grinding AJ33!

Yoooooooooo, Jamal is me! Staying inside, playing video games, not wanting to talk, he is a true introvert and I love it!
Didn't know what to expect from this episode, but once again it resonated with my soul. You gentlemen are THEEEE Standard for podcast content. The realness and top tier conversation skills mixed with the guests always end up being therapeutic for us viewers in so many ways. Blessings upon Blessings to you guys and whatever you lay your hands upon. I appreciate all you do.
