Your story is very similar mine, but ours started 28 years ago. I found out I was pregnant when my boyfriend then..husband now had his accident. He broke his neck diving in a swimming pool he is a C7 complete. It was very difficult in the beginning taking care him and our son. I look back wonder how I did it. So I know what you are going through. We have our good days and our bad. By the way a few years later we had a another son. Our sons are all grown up now so It’s just hubby and I at home now. We survived. My heart goes out to both of you guys. ❤️

Some of the questions are f-ked up. People need not be ignorant.
Camaro Chic, people also need to realize spinal cord injuries can become permanent if when they calm down, the body isn't reminding it what to do. If you are just going to sit back and let someone not try hard, you are enabling them. Now many times people may not realize if someone really is trying because they do seem so calm, cool, and collected.
Y'all are fantastic at not getting offended. I have been in a rigid manual chair for 3 years (autoimmune disease/brain injury) I find myself annoyed with someone or offended often when in public. I absolutely cannot stand being asked why I'm in the chair.
I also find it incredibly annoying when people offer help for no reason at all other than that they assume you are completely incompetent.
I live in an accessible unit and one of my neighbors offered to get things down from high places for me. I said why on Earth would I need help reaching things in my own home and how would they have gotten up high in the first place. He just looked confused...
anyway.... I love your guys realness I love your attitude and I will definitely keep watching.
I am a C6 C7 quad as a result of a car accident also and my husband is the caregiver. We received money from our auto insurance to pay for our medical equipment as well as loss of wages. Did Trinidad not have access to that also. My accident was 4 years ago an I have rehabilitated alot and can do most things independently, he needs occupational and physical therapy as he also can learn to do things, you just learn to do things differently. Your foing a good job.

Guys if you haven't already please check out the channel Roll with Cole and Charisma. You guys are wonderful! Please be encouraged! Hang in there young lady! You seem like a really good mommy and caregiver/girlfriend. Please don't let people discourage you or tell you that you shouldn't be "wasting your life". You love him and you are giving of yourself and there is nothing wrong with that. The patience will have its work as you continue. I'm proud of yall! And Trinidad, the hair cut looks wonderful!! Keep going and growing! God has not forgotten about you guys! Btw baby Tinley is so adorable!
You guys should watch the channel Roll with Cole and Charisma. They have a lot of useful tips. He's a quad, she's able bodied.
I watched that channel and Charisma really went off on me. At one time maybe there WERE useful tips. She went off on me because the channel now seems to be mainly about HER and her life...I said that and I guess she didn't like it. What was even worse is I think he also said something. It is hard to tell who was saying what because the replies are by 'Cole and Charisma'. Either way, I unsubscribed. No, I would not recommend anyone watch that channel unless you want a daytime drama about woman's life.
I would have to disagree with you there. It’s based on an interabled couples life, definitely not about just her. I really enjoy seeing how they have been renovating their house and their family days out etc.....
Morgan Calvi maybe they got upset cause you’re wrong? Lol. I’ve been watching their channel from day one and I never ever got that impression. It’s about their life together. It’s always strange when people start to get upset by what others are sharing of their life, free of charge lol. They can share whatever they want.

These are two people at the prime of their lives and were suddenly dealt with something that people twice their age would struggle to adjust. Trinidad, God bless you! I can't imagine how this has been for you. And you are doing a GREAT job mama❤❤ May your sacrifices be rewarded! And your daughter is lucky to be raised by such a strong woman! I pray that you are getting some support, I hope you get some time to yourself. You are amazing! So so amazing! Your willingness to support Trinidad shows your kind heart. Some things need more than romantic love to do. Let no one ever judge why you didn't leave him, and I pray that it doesn't happen, but seeing how young you are and how heavy this is, if you ever stop being Trinidad's primary caregiver, I hope you will know that you have done such a great job so far!
Trinidad, I am sorry you had to go through this. I hope God gives you inner peace and strength...because of everyone involved, I can imagine you have it the hardest because you don't have the option to take a break from it. What a sweet couple! You’re absolutely right, “no couple is perfect”, but you two should be proud of they way you support one another. Yeah a lot of people would just have walked away, but it’s obvious you love each other and know what true commitment is.
I love that you say he’s your best friend! I’ve been married to my best friend for 30 years and being best friends to each other has gotten us through our hard times together. Just keep at it, in time you’ll perfect your schedule and everything will seem like second nature. I broke my back in 2010 and my husband had to take over everything, including taking care of all my hygiene needs. It was embarrassing for me in the beginning, but like I said, now it’s like second nature. I couldn’t imagine my life without him and we’re still very much in love and attracted to each other, even in spite of my disabilities. Y’all are doing great! Give each other all your love and lots of kisses.

Have you used or tried any of the active hands ranges? C4 inc here and I use them to hold my toothbrush and brush my teeth, grip a knife, etc.....they’re great so many options for us with no grip👍🏾😊
Ps. Are not sure what level you are C4 or 5 but if your C5 or above you should be able to use tenodesis to grip things when you take your splints off with therapy help

My wife it's a C5 C6 quad. She had a car accident which left her paralyzed. She brushes her teeth does her hair and her make up. Her hands do work but She gets by. You should look her up sometime and She May be able help you understand how you can do more for your self. She was injured in 1997 so she has some experience and she also raised our child who is currently 18. Good luck in the future

Care givers deserve a lot of credit - there is no doubt, but I wonder if people ever stop to think how it feels to be the injured person who is discussed as if they are invisible and are constantly reminded of how fortunate they are to have someone who loves and cares for them!
I wish more people had some damn compassion and common decency!
It seemed to me that he felt comfortable with that, as he got fairly quiet during some of the questions.
I'm impressed by this young lady. She really does seem to have dreams to better their future, and I know his injury is still fairly new, probably processing the new normal, but I think he just might need a little kick in the butt for motivation. Sorry, but we had to do it with my best bud a few years ago, otherwise he'd still be watching tv or playing video games all day and night as well. He really became inspired when I turned him onto Roll with Cole and Matt and Sloan. Trinidad has hope of improvement but they don't. He's lucky to have this young lady in his life, but she loves him so much, I fear if he doesn't find some motivation, her whole life will be just him, and that would be selfish of him. He needs to know that his life is worth living, he has the love and support of a beautiful girlfriend and an absolutely adorable baby girl. They deserve it as well.

It’s not really a criticism of her as a person - she is an amazing young woman and clearly loves him.. sometimes you just need a greater awareness of how someone else might feel 💖
Exactly how I felt after watching this. I don’t know the relationship they share, but the constant little jabs honestly made me feel sorry for him. He didn’t ask for this to happen to him, and heaven knows he probably feels immense guilt and heavy burden as it is. He doesn’t need comments like “you were cuter before the accident” floating around in his head to work through on top of his recovery. Best of luck to both of them!

I'm not trying to be rude and definitely not going to judge but how do you afford your baby? And all that medical care? Are you on Welfare (I am on it too so no judging really!).. WIC is great for a lot of new young mothers.. I was a cashier before and processed a lot of those checks and cards!.. I know that your husband is on disability and you probably get a bit from TH-cam as well..!.. I'm not sure what that feeding thing is about...but he is continuing to 'feed' his frustration by getting fed. I thought he should be doing more on his own (I'm a C4 incomplete). Was I frustrated...oh yes and a serious baby...but you know what, I ended up walking. Now I realize if he has a complete injury, that probably won't happen...but he's young and probably shouldn't be pampered. If anything should happen to you, he'd be up a creek without a paddle. The baby will basically be parentless. Listening to the Q's and A's...dude, my fingers don't work either...that doesn't mean anything. You have to do what you can do and you will find short cuts and stuff. It's hard at first, I get that...but you have to start doing things. It will make your relationship much better. Actually, if you REALLY love him, you will stop babying him and make him do things on his own in case anything ever does happen to you...people get sick and stuff. What will he do then?
When the one viewer said 'Girl run, you're wasting your time'...and you replied you were still waiting on a ring...if he doesn't love himself to try and do things...he surely doesn't love you. You may just want to think about this. Many people are saying what I am. I currently have 2 spinal injuries and could I give up and do nothing, sure...but I need to do things to survive and as I do them, I find other ways to get around what I can't do. There are adaptive hands companies out there. Hell, I know quads that have no hand function and cath themselves. For no hand function, there is the 'eagle catheter'...which allows you to cath with no hands...it's really neat. Trinadad...the vacation is over. You are going to start getting contractions and stuff.

I completely agree and yes, we argue about him pushing himself more which he he slowly but surely is. He will get there one day and he’s starting to do more like hold the catheter and such. Thanks for the comment!
@@iwalkherolls8939 I wanted it to be a constructive one and not a grippy one 🙂. I have probably the same injury as him and I even rock climbed afterwards...but you have to try! The spinal cord does take a bit to calm down and it takes nerves a bit to come back...but just sitting there not using them..they won't know how to work. It's more than frustrating...but with that frustration comes self love and confidence. If he loves himself, he will love you and his little girl and want to do more for you guys as well as himself.
He will get you that ring. Do you honestly think with knowing he is waited on hand and foot, he will get you one?
Good luck on your GED. I too ended up getting my GED and going on to college. I ended up with a nasty bone infection getting into my spine and now I am no longer mobile...but this was like 35 or 36 years later. I am thankful for the run I had...but I am still not quitting.
The injury is still new...it takes a bit to get over things...but he has to start trying and like the old saying, hope for the best expect the worst...he will be pleasantly surprised. Good luck in life guys!
I’m just going to clear some things up and in the future we will explain more, but Trinidad has come a long way and he has worked hard. Right after the accident Trinidad couldn’t move at all and has gained back movement in his arms so please don’t think he isn’t trying. He’s had a setback here recently and it’s something he will have to overcome mentally but I have faith he will get there. Thank y’all for the comments and understanding. We appreciate it all.
@@iwalkherolls8939 mental set backs are often harder than physical set backs when it comes to spinal cord injuries. My mental state of mind after my original spinal cord injury was my own worse enemy...so I totally get it. In fact, I regained a lot once my spinal cord calmed down...BUT a bone infection got into my spine and erased a lot of that work. So just recently I was a huge jerk. But what did help me were the little things I figured out and some paralyzed guy's (Cruise something) saying 'Put your game face on, smile, laugh, carry on'. Then the music to his first video was 'Baby let's cruise away from here'...I associated that with my anger and frustration. One thing that helped immensely were youtube videos on how quadriplegics got things done. It gave me the confidence I needed to keep chugging ahead. You guys will make it and your little girl will grow up loving you and giving you that encouragement to live life your best.

It's horrible to hear you don't have money for needed things.
They're giving out all this welfare to people who are just being lazy and refuse to work and yet you are left without therapy and equipment 😮
Now people get $420 for each school age kid "because they don't go to school where they could get meals" (meanwhile schools continue to feed students AND their families 3 meals a day!)
You guys should be the kind of people who get extra cash!
And being a carer 24/7 is like having 3 full time jobs. You should totally get paid for it, even if minimum wage it would add up because of the sheer number of hours.
