I had no idea they made this, never saw it before. Great to find it years later(2025) and enjoying every minute of it. Thanks for the memories Dick Van Dyke Show!
This is so sweet. How weird must it have been for them to come back after so long and play these characters again. God bless them. I wish alot of other older shows would do this as well.
To say this pulls at the heart strings is an understatement... this show is always going to be a piece of American history... and the cast always loved.
This was shot 10 years ago in 2004 and thankfully all 6 of the original cast members featured here are still with us. 6 out of 9 for a show over 50 years old is a good percentage.
I see this comment continues to get upvoted, just wanted to update it by noting that unfortunately Ann Morgan Guilbert, who played Millie Helper, passed away this year leaving only 5 out of the original 9(still a good percentage I think).
Fordham1969 And now Mary is gone. But yep: this was So Rare that the majority was alive 5 decades later. I don't know if any other has done that. R.I.P to the lost ones.
Lots of laughters and having an optimistic outlook definitely help in the longevity department, especially at a time when everybody was a heavy drinker/smoker. Van Dyke, Carl Reiner, and Rose Marie are in their 90s, but still with us and active on Twitter.
Dick's brother Jerry Van Dyke also passed earlier this year. The original "Pickles" (Buddy's wife) is still with us. Her name is Barbara Perry and she's 95. She got replaced really early tho.
Just now seeing this, well.... a time gone by for them and all of us, what a total classic... Especially... our Dick Van Dyke Forever. Yes he's still here.... and may he be forever 💖💖💖💖
This whole show is a priceless gem. The concept was brilliant, . I was so glad Sally and Herman finally got together. Oncc I even "made up" an episode where Herman's mother went on a quiz show, won a trip on the "Love Boat" and met and married a Texas oil millionaire, So with her out of the way, Herman grew up and married Sally like he was supposed to, .It's to bad in real life people have to get old and die. But this kind of show makes remembrances very sweet and precious.
This is SO sad. I could seriously cry right now. If there was ever a group of people who should live for ever & not age physically/ mentally... IT's the cast of the Dick Van Dyke Show. I wish Morey & Richard were still alive. Seriously tho, I know its selfish, but I wish all my favorite stars & actors lived for ever to bring the same kind of happiness and laughter to generations to come. I'm only 18, & I'm already sad to see Dick & Mary at such an old age. Mary doesn't even sound like herself.
I couldn't agree with you more. Dick Van Dyke is amazing and still with us. I was in high school when Mary's show was on. Love her and I hate that she's not here any more. I'm thankful they are all preserved on video for us to enjoy them. 💖
I never saw this. It is so cool! The Dick Van Dyke Show was so wonderful - so it's fun to see this revisit. Especially now, yet some years later. T-A-L-E-N-T!
What a nice surprise for those who for some reason skipped it initially. (Some were a little ticked after VanDyke dumped his wife of several decades for the Lee Marvin ex, Michelle Triola.) But life goes on, and this production is better than most reunion specials. One of the most talented casts on tv.
My father had a record album of Morey Amsterdam's, a comedy album of course, back in 1965. One of the tracks was titled "Yuc a Puc". I asked my father why that was funny, and what it meant. I was only 14 and he wasn't about to tell me what it meant. He just said "nothin".. so I forgot about it. I am now old enough to know what it meant lol.. WTF.. and now I can understand why my father said "nothin".. 😂😂
Thanks so much for posting this. I remember watching it when it aired plus, of course, I was and am a huge fan of the old series. The revisit was wonderfully funny. I did notice that Ray Romano didn't mention Mel Cooley (Richard Deacon) in the beginning intro. So sad to see the list of all the wonderful greats who are now gone. I still love seeing all of them on the old shows (DVD show and the Danny Thomas show). Wonderful stuff. Gracias!
Such fond memories. My grandmother and I sat everynight watching these great shows, laughing and enjoying these characters. And now I get to introduce my kids to them too. It's lovely to have somewhere to turn these days where political agendas and offensive nonsense don't have to be a part of it.
I have to admit it's really cool seeing Dick Van Dyke and Merry Tyler Moore reprise their roles, as characters i've grown to love. They do a pretty good job too if part one is any indication. Not too crazy about how CBS produces shows these days however. Fake audience "laugh tracks," and Soap Opera Lighting is just depressing in my opinion.
He was adorable as Richie. I saw him recently on a TH-cam interview where he talked about the competitive nature of the acting business. It was hard to get work. He eventually went behind the scenes. He and his wife actually do live in Portland, Oregon.
I actually was really entertained by this when it aired. Much better than a typical reunion show (which is what Reiner didn't really want to do). For a final episode, it's a hoot.
That's what I always liked about Carl Reiner. Never repeated an idea twice and decided to do something original should it come to pass. Was also nice that for once they had a reunion where Alan Brady WASN'T deceased😂
Laura's got some 'splaining to do after leaving Rob for all those years, changing her name to Mary Richards, and working for Lou Grant at a TV station in the midwest.
That's exactly why TV execs didn't want the Mary Richards character to be divorced. They were afraid viewers would think she had left Rob Petrie. I'm sure there were strange people out there who just might have thought that 🤪
This is fun! The on-screen and writing talent in this show was stellar and has few equals. But there is someone else we need to thank for the enjoyment we can still get from these almost 60 year old shows, and that is whoever has been curating them. Far too many master copies of early TV shows were either discarded, erased or left to rot in archive basements. Clearly someone has looked after the master copies of these shows during the years when there was far less interest in them. That care means that now, in the digital era, they still look very crisp and good and we can enjoy them looking as good or better than when we originally saw them. We can't know who to thank for that, but thank you anyway!

I always felt that this reunion was kind of thrown together. The whole idea for a reunion only came up on The TV Land awards just a couple of months earlier. RIP Mary, Carl, Morey and Rose Marie.
Millie (Ann Morgan Guilbert) aka "Grandma Yetta" is wonderfully funny. It was a nice touch bringing Stacy (JVD) in as her new boyfriend. Just terrific.

This was an excellent "update" to the original storyline. When you grow up with some of these shows you think about what the characters might be doing as they approach late middle age. Somehow I just don't think of Laura Petrie ever being a grandmother, though Rob I imagine would have been a great grandfather. Would Sally have ever gotten married? Maybe to Stacie Petrie? Statistically, at least 1 of the couples on the show would have divorced and remarried...probably Alan Brady. This was cute. The chemistry between Van Dyke and Moore was still there. The only thing that was a stretch was Richie moving back into the house 30 years after his parents moved out and having the same furniture and phone number. But that's part of the charm. Carl Reiner got right back into the Alan Brady character without losing a beat.
Yeah, it's hardly likely that the house's decor would never have been updated in thirty-plus years. But they had to include the famous living room for nostalgia reasons.
I loved this show. Such fantastic memories. MTM was such an incredible natural beauty, it's a shame she decided to have "work" done. Her eyes look so unusual now, much like others who have had too much plastic surgery done. She didn't need to do that. Rest in peace to her though. Also, to the rest of that wonderful cast who have passed on.
Dick Van Dyke still going strong at 99 in 2025. I miss the rest of an outstanding cast. The "Dick van Dyke Show" never gets old. A timeless show.
Very nostalgic. Nice to see them together again. RIP Mary Tyler Moore, Rose Marie, Richard Deacon, Carl Reiner, Jerry Van Dyke.
Morey Amsterdam

Richie didn't get any applause at all in his clip or when he appeared. Poor Richie. You fans should be ashamed.
