My Grandmother had a huge Dictionary like yours. She had it on a wood book stand next to her morning chair. Each day, she would open it to a random page and go down the column until she found a word she didn't know. She would memorize it and use it during the day when she could.
Great finds!
that is so admirable! My dad has one on a book stand like that too but it is just for decoration in his house. So neat!
@@DesertDIY she was a "proper" but lovely lady. Very British.
I would read dictionaries and encyclopedias for pastime as a child. It was a fun activity to me. Very few other things to do.
Oh my goodness, I absolutely love today’s video! That footstool was stunning and the dictionary, the way you displayed the botanical prints! I couldn’t get over how much I loved it. Thank you for sharing such great ideas with us today, girl you rock.❤
Thank you so much Joy. You made my day. I really appreciate you saying that.
I like how you show the item in the goodwill bin and then you go directly to how you fix/upstyle/repurpose it. I like the continuity of that. Thanks!
It’s a primitive candle holder. You can place a small candle holder with candle on the small shelf
Ooo! I had a feeling that's what it was
I agree. That looks very much like the ones I made in shop class in high school. I use mine to hold antique candlesticks with candles.
It is a candle holder. I have a couple. Love them.
Before I start my comments, let me tell you I'm 69. I learned to sew and refinish furniture from my Mom. My only grandparent was my English Grandmother (Dad's side) whose life straddled Victoria, Edward, George, and Elizabeth's reigns. I inherited alot of her furniture, most of which has been restored.
The footstool is Victorian. The style, however, is Queen Anne ( the shape of the legs). The coconut husk stuffing supplements the horsehair stuffing which is original. The burlap covering is wool. The original upholstery fabric appears to be silk velvet that has rotted. God bless you for saving the nails. If you incorporate them in your restoration, you can price your item higher for using original components.
You, once again, did a beautiful job on this footstool. And the other items, too. I enjoy watching your hunt for items, as well as breathing new life into them. You and your family are truly artists!
Thank you so much for sharing all of that information. I love knowing more about these things. I bet you've seen some amazing pieces
The 1934 dictionary! My dad was born in 1934!
I love what you did with the stool! Omg, so many little projects in your videos! Thank you so much for sharing your work with us!
Thank you! And how cool! Love it!
What a neat idea with the dictionary and botanical prints!❤
Thank you Marianna!
It's beautiful it's not a shame that it was painted. She did a good job.Love it wish it was mine
Love the immediate gratification of the makeover after you pull the item from the bin👏👏👏
Grandma's foot stool turned out beautifully. I love the fabric you used. Selling it for $29.95 is a ridiculously low price. You should sell it for, at the very least, $40.00. I've been hoping to find one of those mailboxes, but I've had zero luck. I'll keep looking. All of the items you refurbished are beautiful.
I love the foot stool! On the mailbox,if it were me,I would remove those letters saying “suite”. I think they take away from the rusty look of it. 😊
I just might do that
I just love that 'grandmas' footstool !! What a transformation. I had a piece that was 100-ish years old, judging by when they stopped using horsehair as cushioning. Your layer sure looked like horsehair to me! When I refinished mine, I put the horsehair layer back in between the foam layers along with a note saying what I had done with the piece. I just love the history of furniture pieces. Great haul and transformations today, I wish I had that dictionary; what a find!
I think that is really cool that you left a note. Thank you for sharing that!
I love your format of showing how you make something over at the same time you purchase it ! You do a beautiful job on your makeovers.
Thank you so much Mary!
"Weird words that people make up now" You couldn't be more right about that, Cory. I appreciate your passion and respect for past people and history. ❤ Have a great week!!
Haha yes! Thank you!
Brilliant use of the dictionary to display the prints! So happy you rescued it. Keep the footstool - for Grandma! Great finds and makeovers Cory!
Thank you so much Sonnie!
The footstool is gorgeous! I also love the part where you're talking to your dog.
I am so glad you rescued that huge book
Me too!
Great fines. The makeovers were fantastic. Love the mailbox.
I'm so glad you saved the stool. What history! Oh, if that stool could talk! I hope you keep it. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Sonya! I'm sure it had a great life until recently! But now it is beautiful again
I have a 26 volume set of the World Book of Knowledge. Excellent condition. I paid $5 for them. They teach milking cows, planting a garden and castrating pigs. Most were sent to kids monthly who lived on farms and faraway from schools. My kids loved reading them.
Keep the stool! Sooooo perfect!
I might have too! Haha thank you Lynn!
Such a brilliant way to display botanical prints in the old dictionary ❤
I'm glad you like it!
This format is great!!! Best video and love your 14 year old fur baby’s commentary.
Haha thank you Jamie! He always has something to say about everything
Great idea with the old dictionary!
Thank you Peggy!
Your videos are too dang SHORT! , I could watch for hours. Love all of them.
haha thank you so much Rita. I try and make them as long as I can without them starting to get boring.
Great job on the stool! 🤍
That black straw like material on the stool could have been horse hair.
I love the way you display your prints, that is so cool.
You're right. It's horsehair.
Everything turned out beautiful. Whoever buys any of the items at your booth will be very lucky. You’re so creative ❤
Thank you so much Kelly, that means a lot to me.
LOVE OLDER PUP'S... HE'S ADORABLE..... Great Video. LOVE the Foot Stool and the Brass Lamp.
Thank you Elaine! I much prefer older dogs to younger dogs as well.
Love this! Very good job on the footstool.
Thank you Morgan
I just love that dictionary! The way you used it as a display piece for the botanical art sheets was clever. Another great video.
That mailbox! ❤ reminds me of my grandparents house when I was little
Those handmade nails were so COOL!!
What a great haul! The stool was like an archeological find! So much inspiration in one video. Thank you!
Haha it was! Thank you Linda
love the mailbox
Thank you!!!
What a lovely and interesting way to display your prints.Footstool transformation elegant.
That footstool is gorgeous !! AWESOME job 🎉🎉
I need that foot stool! Can’t believe you priced it at $29. It’s beautiful and matches my decor
The fabric at the end would make some beautiful block print pillows and that style is so in right now!😊
Oh you are so right
The wood of your cutting board, I've seen a lot. My Dad loved it. He called it Bird's Eye Maple. He was a woodworker. Making wood products, displaying and selling at craft fairs.
Very cool!
*Hi Cory.😊 I enjoyed this video very much.*
*Having grown up with parents who owned an Antique and Collectibles Store, I recommend that you buy a box of plastic sleeves like the ones used to preserve pages in 3 ring binders to slip your botanical prints into. Buy the kind that are closed on 3 sides and open at the top. Better yet, thrift them if you can! Add a piece of chip board to the sleeve behind the print to keep it stiff and wrinkle-free. Chip board is the type of cardboard that is used on the back of tablets like legal pads, if you haven't heard that term before. Your husband or the kids probably have chip board on tablets for school that you can use when the paper is gone.*
*The pages you displayed look great tucked in between the dictionary pages as you plan to sell them in your booth, but very quickly people's grubby hands, (✋️especially those of children) will transfer oils, dirt, possibly food stains, and creases or tears in your botanical prints. Even at 50 cents or a dollar each, the protective covers are helping to save you from a LOSS of $3.95 per page...and DON'T GET ME STARTED ON HOW MANY PEOPLE WET THEIR FINGERS TO TURN PAGES‼️🤮🤯 It also makes the prints look more professional and less likely to be stolen! 😔 The prints can be taken out of the sleeve when sold and bagged with the chip board to keep them from getting bent on the way home. You may even check with Mom and Pop printing companies to see if they have free cast-offs of chip board - or Staples or FedEx - that would be tossed anyway. (Ask me how I know, LOL!)*
Thank you so much for that advice Leslie! I'll start looking for those supplies
@@DesertDIY *My pleasure 🙏 Cory❣️*
Great finds! Which outlet did you thrift this time? I usually go to the one off of 45/ Beltway 8 or the one in Cypress.
I love books and botanicals. That book/botanical display is sooo clever! Love your channel!
Yay! I am so glad you liked it! That makes me so happy. Thank you so much for watching.
I absolutely love the way you displayed the botanical prints using the dictionary pages!! 😍😍
Yay I'm so glad you loved it!
Everything is so beautiful! I think you should keep the stool and the lamp!😊
The stool turned out amazingly! I like the dust cover underneath! Don't see that often enough.
LOVE that footstoop and dictionary!! Great idea to show the botanicals that way!

I don't know where your booth is located but your prices are still so reasonable. You should do well on line selling.
Thank you Rosemary! It is located in Kingwood, TX
Love all of it, but especially the foot stool. I have a collection of blue and white china scattered throughout my home...this would fit right in
Wow! That dictionary is fabulous!
Wow, you are so creative! I love the foot stool and the mailbox!
Love the foot stool and you did a great job . The stuffing was more than likely horse hair . They used that a lot back then .
Loved the stool and the mailbox, great hall
The foot stool turned out beautifully, so happy you saved it ❤
Thank you Dina!
My favorite is the mailbox!!!!!!!😊❤
The footstool is a keeper. I'd have a problem because I'd want to keep so many things.
Haha yes! I feel the same way! I loved it all so much
That stool came out beautifully! Thank you for rescuing it. We had that same mailbox on our house in the 1960's that was black.
Wow thank you so much Michelle. So cool you had the same mailbox!
Mailbox is wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
New subscriber. I enjoyed the video very much. I love the beginning and end with prices included. All the items turned out so well. I used to have space in shops and sold on Etsy. I am 74 now so have completely retired from all my jobs. I was an RN for 35 years. I do enjoy seeing others thrift and resell. I have never been to Goodwill bins.
Wow you have worked very hard ! You deserve the time off
I like the plates on the wall. ♥
I absolutely love that footstool and I would have a difficult time parting with it too.

I'm so sorry about your pup but what a lucky life to live to be 20! I think nino will get close to that for sure. He is like Peter pan. Never wants to grow up haha. It is always so hard when they go no matter what age. Big hugs to you.
You did a STUNNING job of that footstool
Thank you
That mail box was cute
Absolutely love the picture. Great Job. Make copies of your book photos.
Awesome finds and beautiful work. I like your channel very much. Thank you for sharing.
So clever how you displayed the botanical prints in the dictionary. I really liked everything you did, but the standout for me was that amazing stool. It was gorgeous. I'd keep that one. I'm really getting hooked on the blue and white items--the jars and plates and teacups. Love them all. I saw another video where they mod podged a blue flower printed napkin onto a mason jar. So cute.
Blue and white is my absolute favorite. It will always be in style in my opinion. Thank you Vickie I'm so glad you liked my projects
It's such an awesome video! The footstool is stunning, and I would absolutely keep it. You may never have another opportunity to have such an antique as wonderful as this footstool. You found so many amazing items, and I love everyone of them.❤❤❤
I love old books. That is the one thing I always look for at thrift stores. That’s a Great idea what you used the dictionary for..
Great saves. I have a friend with a booth. She sells botanical prints for $5.00 each and they fly out the door.
Thank you for restoring grandma's footstool!
Those big dictionaries are worth a lot of money.
Love the foot stool well done
Love 💕 the footstool! Thanks for sharing!

Wow! Your prices are amazing! I definitely would have bought that stool in a heartbeat! Love the iron basket, and that dictionary is awesome!

I love how you sd that you want the furniture to have the original material etc. that’s cool to see . And I’m glad you respected the “ grandma’s chair” we all love our grandma! Ty
Thank you!! 😊
Wow! You got a treasure trove of books for a steal! I looked up the titles on a used book site and you have well over $100 worth of used books with just the four you showed! Lucky find! Somebody lovingly collected and cared for such beautiful pieces..so glad you rescued them from the trash heap.
First time I've been on your site. You have some very clever ideas and artwork displays. I loved the footstool also. I'll definitely watch you again Thank you!!
Thank you!

Love the beautiful footstool❤
Thanks for sharing. I love the stool you made over. I can see why it was hard not to keep it.
Thank you Deb!
The mailbox is awesome, I would have taken the numbers off…. The footstool came out so beautiful, I’d keep it !
I loved this video! All of your projects are so beautiful! I hope you start an Etsy store very soon!!
The small stool you found is about 100 years old. The grassy looking material it was stuffed with looked like burlap and horse hair. That was typical for the late 1800’s. My mother and I have many antiques and have refinished them. I have a queen Ann chair that was built in 1898. It looks very much like your stool. Love so much that you saved it! ❤
Love that foot stool.
What a great video. Great imagination. Well done.
Thank you Judy!
Yeah. You do a great job on everything you do.
Thank you!
