    • @Sillssa
      @Sillssa 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

      Idk really. Johnny is completely right, but the alternative is what we see in Pacifica. A place abandoned by corps
      Corps' overruling dominance has basically made them the governing system of the country. They are that which ultimately funds things like public infrastructure and the NCPD. Not a government and taxes. So Pacifica is near enough what it would look like everywhere if there was suddenly no corps and idk if thats any better
      The truth is I think that the world as it is in Cyberpunk is far beyond saving. The point of no return happened long ago. And we in the real world should really start waking up to prevent it from happening to us

      Been feeling like Johny for a long time, but coming at it from a much more eco socialist point of view. Silverhand is much more system agnostic and just cares about the extreme exploitation while talking about some basic pro socialist values (water and land) but I don't think he dislikes capitalism, more so that he hates the extremes lengths current/2020's capitalism went and how it destroyed the future for the people

      @sadyakubovich 3 ปีที่แล้ว +53

      Gosh, there are like a dozen of these godlike scenes, thus I can't really deside which scene was the best for me. There's powerful Johnny scene at his grave, there are 5 romantic/bond scenes, which felt just out of this world, and so on. Cyberpunk, may be not the best "game" I've played, but surely it gave me the best and the most unforgettable emotions of all kinds

    • @SelFreeLions
      @SelFreeLions 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +46

      This is not totally true. Saying cyberpunk is against neoliberalism is NOT blatantly wrong, but you’re viewing it from the completely wrong lens. Because saying the takeaway from cyberpunk is specifically anti-neoliberalism is very narrow and shallow and possibly harmful to the actual meaning, because that implies that the game is anti capitalist, at least to a degree, which it is not. Now with the deregulation aspect of neoliberalism, yes, cyberpunk is anti-neoliberal, but everything else no. Cyberpunks focus is on large unregulated corporatism, not capitalism as a whole. Cyberpunk is anti authoritarian, not anti capitalist. Socialism is inherently authoritarian because for it to work everyone would need to comply with the rules of that system and the governing body that would run it, cyberpunks message is that large unregulated corporations have the ability to become an authoritarian body. Regarding Johnnys quote, “same shit, different packaging”. It’s also a critique on the misinformed anti-capitalist punk culture as a whole, because punks can’t be against authority but favor an economy and system that relies on compliance. It’s about protecting healthy capitalism, about stopping the exceptionally greedy from creating a system that isn’t truly capitalist. “A war on the forces of entropy” is referring to human greed, it’s the same reason unregulated corporations become bad, and the same reason that communist and socialist methods don’t work, the system will eventually spiral out of control, the authoritative body will abuse the power it has.

The corporations have already won in my eyes. They've successfully managed to distract or enforce such horrible living conditions that they have no/cannot have an impact on the future. Instead the masses follow the news anchors/influences like good dogs (some attack dogs), waiting for it to tell them "X group bad (distracting you from the real problem, which is your socio economic conditions and corporations continual exploitation)" or "Y man is bad (distracting you from whatever good you could (helping in a soup kitchen or protesting are good examples) do instead of listening to them reaffirm your hatred of this bad man)". • @SlashRfnR
      @SlashRfnR 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not even close. 2 totally different concepts. The first Blade Runner is a profound philosophical debate about what it means to be human and having the right to live as a synth. The second movie is a pretty but empty shell where the main character is just doing a quest from A to B. In cyberpunk, it's a mish mash of many ideas.

    • @sadyakubovich
      @sadyakubovich 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@SlashRfnR I wouldn't say it's a "mish mash" of many ideas. Yes, there are lots of ideas and life lessons, but the game is also much bigger than just a one movie. There are many separate stories in the game, each with it's own idea, they aren't really mashed. The main story line probably shares some lessons with "
      For Whom the Bell Tolls", about how facing death affects you.
      But "in summary", including side quests, I'd say that the main point of the game was that you don't really want or need to throw your life away trying to become a well-known legend, instead you can meet beloved people and help them, unintentionally becoming a legend of their own.

V basically says “you blew up arasaka and killed a lot of innocent people, you may not have agreed with them but it’s their choice. And without choice, we have nothing in life”. Johnny is too short sighted, that’s why he blew up arasaka tower with a nuke. He doesn’t see the bigger picture where you have to actually gain the public’s support and have half the population backing you up. The very American way created this though. In the end, socialist ideologs of early 20th century are being proved right, it seems.
      The capitalist, individualist, liberal system itself is unsustainable, modern governments of democracies aren't there to protect the rights of populace, it's there to protect this system.
      And this system, by its very nature, creates bottlenecks, bubbles, fraudulent markets and nonstop corporate greed and tech firms nowadays, are becoming unstoppable even by governments themselves.
      Are you realising big tech are fast becoming monopolies in their own specialised fields of operation? Like Amazon, Uber, Apple and Google? And even the idea of a competitors from these in free market seems ridicilous nowadays?
      And these aren't classical capitalists either, they're bringing feudalism back. It's not even capitalism anymore, these corps create their own digital fiefdoms, subordinate actual capitalists who try to make profit in these fiefdoms, and get rent from their work and trade. Amazon creates next to nothing, but it sucks a shit ton of money thanks to the monopoly it's built in international markets. Any alternative is incapable of actually competing the massive scale of Amazon except for Chinese corps, that're even worse, a capitalist corporation that's intertwined with an oppressive government
      Rosa Luxenburg had it right: The choice is not socialism or capitalism, the choice is socialism or barbarism
      Thing is, socialism is also dead, social democracies are dying, Europe is becoming a political circus, and this hellish new world seems irreversible

      I think this conversaton takes place after the *second* you complete of the following; Going to Clouds, Finding Anders Hellman, and the whole thing with the Voodoo boys. All of these have different variations where V will sit down somewhere to speak with Johnny, but the order in which you do them also changes some of the details a bit.

    Johnny in this game actually nearly radicalized me irl. Maybe parent were right about videogames but more likely maybe im just incredibly susceptible to radicalization. Always did have a problem with the idea that these suits up top control our lives, keep shit from us "for our owm good" (yeah fucking right), make the rules and break their owm rules, take the profit from us they we make working for them and etc.Not to mention the boatlaods of corruption going on behind the scenes. It was easy to not get radicalized when all the people who says shit like this are normally on a far side of a politcal spectrum and have shitty opinions mixed in there. But Johnny... Johnny i find oddly charismatic. He's an asshole but he's my kinda asshole

    • @themadmanescaped1

      This is a modernized version of the criticisms of capitalism. This language is found directly in the red book written by a man named Karl. You know the one.
      This isn't about radicalization. It's pointing out the obvious. Doing what Johnny wants to do about makes sense in his position because it's at a point where it can't be fixed by normal means.

    • @wobblesman4316
      @wobblesman4316 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I mean, it’s not so much radical thought as it is literally just recognizing that the greedy mfs in power want you to essentially become their slave. It’s ultra late stage capitalism where the nobility class from the medieval ages has come back, and they think they’re untouchable. As one of our founding fathers (Patrick Henry) in the US would say,
      “Give me liberty, or give me death!”
