    So …. There have been a few comments about the 32bit audio … it is upscaled from 24 bit. I wasn’t aware of this until after this video was made.
    The external backup audio in my opinion is still much cleaner than what is recorded directly to the camera.

    • @Seanonyoutube
      @Seanonyoutube 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So it doesn’t actually have the dynamic range of true 32bit float?

    • @firestep.visuals
      @firestep.visuals 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was about to ask you about that. So it's not "true" 32BF (yet), but just to clarify- you were able to recover those blown audio peaks because the on board uncompressed 24bit was cleaner than the overloaded camera preamp? Also- if the input (course/fine) only affects the signal strength into the camera preamp, how do you control the input level of the mic into the onboard recorder? This has me stumped, but I'm crossing my fingers that Rode has some kind of "smart" engineering to make it a safe input level so you don't have to worry about peaking the onboard recordings. Thoughts? Thanks man, awesome video! Subscribed.

      So obviously you need to take down the video. The real test of TH-camrs is whether it's all about hits and (chump change) revenue, or actual facts...

  • @MIMCKMedia

    They added a "pad" mode for lower sensitivity.
    Unfortunately the goii don't record in 32bit float. You just can export the 24bit uncompressed recording to a upscaled 32bit float file. If the 24bit recording is clipped you can't fix it in post like a 32bit float file

  • @RexxReviews
    @RexxReviews 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    So the 32 bit float on these is not REAL 32 bit float. It’s still recording in 24 but when uncompressed then it “upsamples” the audio when exporting as 33 bit float. This does give the audio some wiggle room but can still clip to the point that even this process can’t save it. Multiple people from sound engineering sites have tested and confirmed that they can clip audio on the rode that exporting to the 32 bit float can’t fix. That SAME audio run through a device known to have real 32 bit float did not clip. I have been able to duplicate this myself using the zoom F6 and F2. They know that your average person will never realize this.

    • @CK13001
      @CK13001 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is this still the case? Where is the data that it isn't real 32bit float? How much effort or sound did you have to produce to get it to clip? Have you confirmed this with rode?

    • @imDonDiestro
      @imDonDiestro 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If that’s the case, why were his two examples so drastically different? One was clearly clipping and the other was not

    FYI, 32-bit float isn’t live yet. You can read about it’s future implementation on Rode’s site. Thinking you just adjusted 24bit audio and were able to recover it.

    It can export 32 floating bit but it´s recorded at 24 bit... In the end the file will have only 24 bit dynamic!! It´s a "clickbaite" feature!

    This was a life-changing review, I was deciding between these and the Zoom F2 bt, and it's insane, how the Zoom, while offering 32 bit float, doesn't allow audio monitoring, only visual monitoring on the app. The rode wireless go, I wish had a locking 3.5mm jack, but beyond that, it seems like the best bang for your buck. Awesome job, awesome review, and you're hilarious. I'm subscribing!

    Nice save! So would you say that if it’s exporting and 32 float from the transmitter that it really is recording in 32 bit float like some of the new recorders from Tentacle and Zoom?

    • @Trankilstef
      @Trankilstef 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't think so I've looked at the tech specs on Rode website and in uncompressed mode it is still 24 bit. So not true 32bit even if you export in 32bit it still is from a 24bit recorded track.
      And I've been testing it myself and when it's clipped it's clipped. I was in compressed so I might try in uncompressed because in thus video Anthony succeded in getting usable audio out of a clipped audio.
      I'll need more tests though.

    When the Rode GO 2 do not pairing: 1. Switch on the receiver. 2. Switch on the two microphones. 3, Press and hold the number two button "on the receiver" for three seconds until the Wifi icon starts flashing. 4. Then click button number two once and wait for the connection. 5. For the second microphone, repeat steps 3 and 4.

    • @stolencoats63
      @stolencoats63 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah never mind, you answered the question at the end of the video...you clipped audio on output of audio from your receiver into your cam so the files on transmitter weren't clipped. On my experiments I clipped audio at the transmitter and since these damn things have no input gain adjustment there is nothing we can do to prevent it with a loud laugh or yell.

    Hey thanks for the video. I sometimes do sidegigs as a wedding videographer and audio is my weakest point/ least experienced area so I'm going to ask a few questions here lol
    When using just one transmitter, can you still have a safety channel?
    When you do merged stereo mode and have a safety channel, are the audio from the transmitter still accessible as a separate recording without mixed audio from the other transmitter?
    I'm looking for solutions because its merged stereo for safety channel, where for weddings I'd mic up the groom and the officiant, or maid of honor/bestman and rather have it separate and still have a backup for each. Any advice on this?
    Also any tips on camera audio settings + rode wireless go 2 to avoid what happened to your video and avoid clipping?

    • @TheEverythingMan
      @TheEverythingMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes to both questions you can still have a safety ch and you will still have the backup.
      As far as audio each camera is different. What I find best is get good levels on the RØDE first then plug it in and start from 1 on the camera and work your way up. Try to stay around -12db final output.
      Best bet is do a series of test and write down the best results

    Wait, wait....if you "merge" them, and have both on a safety channel...does that mean both the merged and safety channel do NOT have separate audio track for each transmitter? Can you in fact have a safety track for each individual transmitter or no?

      @@TheEverythingMan Thanks for replying. It was a link to a twitter thread between B&H, Rode, and myself. Basically, Rode originally lied about 32 bit support - both in their TH-cam video about the new Wireless Go II (comment section) - later deleted, and their marketing. It's not a true 32 bit float device. It's a 24 bit capture that they upscale - you loose the benefits of 32 bit float (actually, they were never there). Since then, B&H has put a disclaimer on the product about that very thing. I'll post the link in a separate reply. I bought it specifically for the 32 bit float that was advertising (on the day it was released), but ended up returning it unopened. I'll stick with version 1 and then continue to use the Zoom F2 which is true 32 bit float.
