I ended up grabbing the Porter capture X8. They only had an open box one at my guitar center and they tried to sell me it as new. I went back and got a discount.
I have only recorded on clip with my DJI wireless mic and 32-bit float point. I was amazed at how clean the audio comes out. I'm wondering though since the road itself has 32-bit float point how much different the audio would actually be?
@@TheTechPreacher I just watched a review that said you only get 32 bit flow point on the backup recordings on the rode. If you're using the transmitter you don't get it?
I don’t think this is right. The 3.5 output from the Rode receiver is sending a variable line signal into the portacapture X8. Yes, if that signal clips, and youhave the Portacapture Set to 32 bit float, you can bring it down in post. However, the gain setting on the Rode wireless mics is what determines whether or not the microphone input clips. If you have that setting too high, you will still get a clipped signal going into the Porta capture (even if the Portacapture gain setting is fine). The new Rode wireless Pro has its own 32 bit float. That’s where the 32 bit float needs to be to allow accidental wireless microphone clipping to be corrected. That’s my understanding, anyway.
Thanks for sharing. I am wondering about the quality of the supplied mics on channels 1 and 2. They are very light and flimsy and when travelling they need to be detached. How do they compare quality wise with a lavalier mic? Did you notice a difference?
You need to use the Aux input, or use a female to dual male 1/8 splitter into input 1 and 2. You have to record in stereo to get the two separate tracks. Later sum to mono in post.
I like how you break down and explain the equipment you use to make your videos and how you use them.
For sure I'm working on a video
The audio sounds great. Wireless 32 bit float is so clean.
Yes sir
This is the info I’ve been looking for. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!. Thanks for watching

I have the same equipment as you are using in this demo, but never thought of hooking up my wireless receiver to my Tascam X8. Thanks for the info!
For sure thanks for watching I really appreciate it
Brother this is a gold. No one ever breaks it down like this how to properly use the wireless system with the Tascam X8.
For sure no problem bro
Wow love this... Optimal
Glad you like it!
Thank you for being so helpful brother!!!
Ayyyyyy thanks for watching I really appreciate it
Thanks for sharing. I greatly appreciate your effort to make great videos. Blessings on your day!

No difference in audio 32bit just prevents clipping

Great! But I have a doubt, can you use the small external input beside to xlr input too, right? So what´s the diference, bro?
I don't understand the question
You mean the camera line input? I think you can but for mics best to unplug the 1 and 2 mics at the top as per the video.

Yes you can clip at mic level. Thanks for watching I really appreciate your insight
why not 32bit int what's so good about 32, bit float.
None clipped audio
i know but what is float ?
It's a floating audio signal with huge dynamic range
@@TheTechPreacher oh ok thanks

Lav mic would be better
Thank you. Did you see the Ride Wireless Pro? Do I need this given I have a portacapture x8? Or can I get a cheaper wireless mic?
If you split the 3.5mm cable and ran one into input one, and the other into input 2, could it record timecode from the Rode Wireless Pro?
Nah not that I know of
What cable do you use if you have 2 rode mics and 1 receiver, and want to use 2 mono channels?
Same cable. You have to set the receiver for stereo and in post use each channel as mono

E the my LG v60 got a security update the other day.
