He has such enthusiasm and energy towards this hobby. I thought for a second he was going to jump into the wall Ha. Whenever he starts a new sentence he has a little burst of energy either by jumping or hands but always with his speech Haha. I Love it and great video by the way .
Thanks for the good video on how to hack FCC power. I recently went through this procedure when I took my FCC Mavic Mini to a CE country. I had numerous connection issues and could barely fly to 400-500 m. With the hack, I still had strong signal at 1.5-2.0 km. I understand you will also get much better results if you hack the CE version. However, there are a few things to watch out for: - The initial power up with the phone set to a gps position in the US needs to occurs INSIDE the house, or any place where the Mavic Mini will not receive gps signal. Only then will it « think » that it is located in the US. - After that, in order to keep it thinking it is still located in the US, you need to connect your phone AFTER you started the motors with the remote controller. Similarly, you have to disconnect your phone BEFORE you stop the motors after the flight. Otherwise, the current position will be updated through the mavic’s gps. - The initial power up can be done with an Iphone, but you need the proper software (yes, I did it). Hope this helps !
Thankyou this is exactly what I needed. Mine would boot into fcc indoors. But when tried outside it would automatically swap back to ce mode because of the minis GPS. So do you suggest starting the motors, connecting the phone and flying it out of the house. It's not ideal 😂😂
MRW Aerial Photography simply put your hand on top of the mavic mini until controller is connected then start immeaditly fly a little over the ground and connect the phone to the controller
@@michaelnobauer7108 that I under stand yes. But i have concerns. 1, I have a very narrow doorway and a corner to negotiate. Secondly where i fly i with issues i dont have the luxury of my house to shield the gps 😂. Third, I would not want my mini to return to home there if anything happens to the transmission. I would not be able to update my return to home as it would be in America lol.
MRW Aerial Photography you can block the gps outside the door with your hand, u dont need to stay inside, the drone will connect to the satelite right after u put your hand away and it sets the homepoint secondas after the start
Hi, I really appreciated your video. Did exactly as you said (i even took notes in order not to forget a step) and it didn't work. Then, I changed the proceeding at the start: -Start Fake GPS -Connect phone to remote with cable -start remote control and drone. So connecting the phone with the cable BEFORE starting the drone and the rc did the trick for me.
So it Establishes the difference based on GPS? It's not something built into the drone. So buying a drone from the America and having it delivered to Europe would make no difference?
This video is very good. The purpose of this video helps us move from 2.4 to 5.8. If your drone defaults to 5.8 then you can fly far. However, if you want to fly 4km away, we should choose a drone with a code on the ss5 control. If the control code is SD25 then we should care about this video
That is false. The stronger the band the more range you get - except you fly above polluted are with a lot of buildings or appartements. The Hack does only one thing: it uses more power for transmission in both bands cause in the US the FCC allows more power transmission than the EU with its CE mode How far you can get depends on the area you are flying cause there are 5,8 overpoluted areas too in major cities.
Thank you for the FCC hack. I haven't flown yet, way to windy but discovered in the setup procedure that the programme 'Fake GPS Location PROFFESSIONAL' by Just4Fun Tools doesn't require disconnection prior to switching off. This is useful as you don't require to setup up programme everytime you fly.
There is still a hardware difference. From what I understand, this FCC hack will give you more range, but it still won’t be the full range if you have the CE (European) drone. If you have the actual FCC drone but aren’t in the USA, you can use this hack to unlock the full range.
Just tried this on the latest firmware. I can get it into FCC mode, and preserve the settings by turning off and on in that specific order, but as soon as it took off, it was limited to about 15-20ft. then when I landed it, it reset wireless settings... Have DJI purposely stopped this working?
Woooow It work in my mavic mini, before I use fake gps, with 2.4ghz I only can fly maximum 20meters away, and it will lost contact and return to home. And now my mavic mini with fake gps is in 5.8ghz become more stable. And I always remember that to unplugged the phone before turn off, Great job bro ... Thanks from indonesia.
doesn't really make much sense, as the lower the ghz the further the range, 2.4ghz reaches further than 5.8ghz and 900mhz reaches further than 2.4ghz etc

I don’t have the mini, but looks like great info. Just wanted to say hi Henrik and I’m still enjoying the osmo 2 I won from you. Thanks my friend and keep up the great work. 😃👍
Thanks for the useful tips. However, I think you missed quite an important step here, on how to enable mock location: TO enable the mock location, you need to access the phone settings > about phone > build number > tap on the build number until developer options shows up > allow mock locations. It took me a few tries, as the fake apps would not show me the mock location.
tried the mini again this morning with an otg cable to make it easier with a longer cable, all connects fine with props started I connect cable in the kitchen to my fake gps position but as soon as I go outside it gets the gps satellites here and map reverts from nevada USA to my actual position in Spain again...Im searching how do I backdate this last update as it worked before ...try it
I've tried your FCC hack but it doesn't work as smooth as it should. Sometimes I can't choose a flightmode (S,P or C) and in the left upper corner of the screen instead of flightmodes is says N/A exactly as in your video at 4:14 only in your video it changes to P after that. That sometimes doesn't happen when I try it. It stays on N/A and I also cannot select a flightmode in the menu when it says N/A. It also pops back in CE mode if I disconnect the cable from the controller. I've also checked the DJI website and the CE model simply doesn't the same transmitting power in its hardware. And could the bad reception maybe also taken care of by pointing 1 antenna straight forward and 1 pointed up? because the signal is sent around the antenna, therefor if you both have them pointed upwards the signal is being sent horizontal away from you in a circle and if you flatten one the signal is also sent around that antenna only now vertical, also upwards. I got this idea after I could easily fly 500 meters away but upwards max about 40-50 meters. This is a yet not tested theory, because the wind was to strong today but I think it makes sence, what do you think?
Hi. I have done all the steps in your video and it works until the drone Update the Home point . Then it gods back to CE mode by Press OK witch is mandatory ?
Doesnt work for me for some reason... I have tried it 15 times following the right steps, and every time in my transmition settings its shows Frequency: 5.8GHz (it has always shown this from the day i bought it.. and i live in Greece..), but 13 channels... DAMN.............
Hello... I can no longer do the FCC Hack after the latest update!!! I used to easily do it for every flight in the city, because of high interference.. Now it just won't switch over to FCC mode anymore.. 😔 Now I have to use my parabolic reflectors all the time and even maybe try 2.4ghz channels in the City.. Sweet I hope that DJI allows us to FCC Hack it again after the next update.. Now it seems the actual Mini is also using its own GPS in order to switch over to FCC, the phone's GPS is not enough anymore.. Cool cool.. 😁
@@michiscz Yeah, they've finally blocked the Mini from using only the phone's GPS, now it seems it uses either both phone's and drone's GPS or at least only the actual drone's GPS position! So now it's so nerve-wracking to fly from my balcony like I usually do! In the City the wifi interference is truly crazy! I will fly today and use my parabolic reflectors and see how it goes.. All this is really really making me save up for a Mavic Air 2! I really really do love my Mavic Mini, even though it's the CE version, I just have to maybe get those Yagi adapters for the antennas, I would need for both 5.8ghz and for 2.4ghz Channels.. I guess what we can do is downgrade to the older Fly application and fly thus way. I really prefer to always have the latest software versions and so I'll just keep it the way it is.. Hopefully my parabolic reflectors will do the job just fine... Keep well and be safe 😁
Hello.. When I go into the Fly App I only see Auto when I click the transmission tab.. No manual setting on both my mini 2 and my Air 2s.. Am I missing something or has the manual option been removed from the app so I cannot see if it's 11 or 13 channels.. Thanks again
After making this video I learned there is a difference in the hardware between the CE version for Europe and FCC version in US. You still get the benefit in the 5.8Ghz band as far as I can see, but not as much as full FCC. In general, any improvement to the 5.8GHz is beneficial, as it’s limited to 500m and where most CE owners are seeing a problem. The guy that reported this to me has been reaching 1600m out with no hiccups after doing this, but no information about the band he was using, ⚠ *Finally I do want to add that messing with this might void your warranty with DJI* ⚠
If you dont wanna void your warranty just use 2.4 GHz channel and select the green shortest bar on channel . And dont forget to set your phone to airplane mode. No more interference from your own phone. Got range 500m++ on crowded area and 1700m ++ if not crowded
Well maybe that is not true. I have the CE version and I change it to FCC and from a ma distance of 843 meters my mini made a 3026 meters and I stpped it because I was flying over the sea and I got afraid.
FCC hack for the win ... Oh my god, you sir are a life saver, I am 2 days away from owning my very own brand new mini in the UK and thank god for your hack, I seriously dont want to lose my new drone due to stupid FCC issues, I already have Fake GPS on my android all ready to go next week. Again MANY THANKS
I've jist changed the transmission manually and got to the 2,4Ghz with one click. No need for all of these you describe... I have the European CE hardware that DJI gives 2000m range. I've reached 3100m with some glitches, but no connection problems.
Hi, great video. I have just ordered my first drone, a DJI Mini. When you turn off WiFi on your phone, do you still get a live video feed to your device? Again, great video, thank you!
Well thank you. The guide works. But before takeoff, you need to calibrate the compass and IMU. It is not possible to calibrate when the engines are running. And if I have to disconnect the cable from the RC before switching off the motors, it is also not possible to calibrate. So what's the procedure? Thank you in advance for the explanation.
Just confirmed it working for the air 2, as well! Tested back to back and it increased no interference range at the very least 1km before I decided to turn back. Cheers!
hi...have u tried with mavic air 2...is your device under CE region or u bought it in USA..would like to know more cause i heard for CE countries there is a restriction of only 6km...Please explain more.TQ
@@alvinreddy9309 Followed his instructions for mavic air 2 ce version, and it works, yes. Without setting location to USA I can go ~1400m before the signal starts breaking up. With location set to USA I could go 3.8km with no sign of signal dropping. (didn't want to push it further so turned back at that point).
@@CatoOStrand where are u from?i am here in Malaysia and the CE standard guideline is 6km...i want to fly 10km do u have any friends in Asia or EU region using FCC version without hack
My remote model mr1ss5 Wich is support 5.8 GHz only. As I know FCC is 5.8 GHz standard in North America. So why remote control that can support 5.8 and 2.4 automatically switch to 2.4 if you in USA, when USA standard is 5.8ghz
When you lose your drone using this hack, will you be able to find your drone on the map that dji provides, or will it say that your drone is in the US?
Hi,I have the CE version bought in the UK. Currently in Brazil so it automatically jumps to the FCC mode with no hack. It shows 11 channels. Had signal breakup at just over 300m with line of sight so no improvement over its performance in the UK. I was over water/jungle at the time so little interference.
Hi, wifi was off, same set up as in the UK. Phone not in airplane mode though. Seems you get the break up when you do the turn at the end of a run. Also had major problems near buildings with metal corrugated roofs. Had interference at 40m.
depends on regulations and if you are flying to foreign countries be carefull cause in many african countries you can loose the drone by crossing the border and they confiscate the drones. And most of all tourist areas hate drones and ban them ... so most likely you will run into problems ... even as a resident. Drones can deliver transparency and look behind walls and can pictures objects close from the ground and show how rich some people are that do not want that.
I will try that today & I will try to make a short video if it’s working 👍 just want to say that I’m leaving in Ireland & my maximum range for now is around 400m
TECH DRONE MEDIA did work when I was inside house then when I went outside & the drone pickup signals from satellites then automatically jumped back to ce so no luck😣
No. That not true . Application changes power levels based on your localisation. Fcc version will have lowered power based on GPS data. Ce has 2.4 GHz band so its better in eu. Without any hacs ce is better for eu
Hi, My mavic mini is FCC model and has only 5.8Ghz option. But i am getting only 500m range. Don't know whether your tips is going to work or not coz your tips is for CE model. Could you please give some suggestions about what i can do?
If leave your drone sitting idle it will switch back too, and overheat :) I'm no expert but this hack would probably only be useful for MT1SS5 / MR1SS5 Drone/Controller combo as they are FCC and SRRC. Also some person in Texas is going to collect a lot of drones from flyaways :D
Awesome! Watched most mavic mini vids on your channel. Is it correct that only in 'quickshot' mode the mavic mini can track objects? Other active-tracking/following is disabled because of the lack of sensors. I would like to know if there is a setting available where only the gimbal is tracking an object (centered in the frame) while the drone is operated manually... Would be very usefull for follow action
@@TECHDRONEMEDIA Ok,thanks, DC Rainmaker posted some experiments with the quickshots, but as I'm considering getting a mavic, I was wondering if there are possibilities for something like 'spotlight' on the mavic mini. For example the DJI osmo pocket can lock the gimball on a moving object...
@@martijnwarnaar6255 This is not possible right now, but doable from a technical point of view. Circle is the closet you get to active track, but it's very limited.
I do exactly what you say in this video. I have downgraded to 1.0.8 version my dji fly app. Sometimes the channels 12 & 13 disappear from transmission menu, but in 1-2 minutes, dji fly app restarts and return again in CE mode (12 & 13 channels appear again). What can i do? please help
Hi there, first I want to mention you are making amazing tutorials! The second thing Is that I try something maybe that will work for some of the guys, i faced a lot of issues with city flying on 5.8, i couldn't reach even 20 m Height, what did I do I switch to 2.4 and choose 4 th channel, and it was working great, maybe you have any explanation how is that possible? Best Regards from Ohrid-Macedonia!
Simple: the higher the frequency the less power and penetration and range it has ... the more likely intererence will hurt the communication. If RC pilots want to get high range they avoid even the 2,4 Ghz frequencies and chose 9xx Mhz, so 900 Mhz bands ,,,, no Ghz bands at all. That leads more reliable connection and better signal . So stay in 2,4 Ghz to get the best and check the wifi "pollution". If that is high than you are most likely above a private area with a lot of households and wifi networks where these signals will be stronger than yours if you are farer away cause there signal is stronger being closer to the drone. Than you loose the video connection first ... dji does not care about it cause flying over private crowded areas is forbidden in close to all countries ... at least EU, US, Africa, ... Best way to avoid these risks: buy a mavic air 2 cause that will use occusync 2.0 and that is a different story regarding range
I have a solution for the issue after the update you cant do that anymore. the solution is delete the dji fly app, download from google apk version 1.1.4 install and you good to go. its still work for me.
Hello sir can you give me an advice? Because last week i bought mavic mini 199g here in japan, 199g battery 1100mah battery flight time is only 10mins, can i use 2400mah battery to fly more? It is compatible or not? Please help me
does it still work with the latest update for the mavic mini? on my lg g 6 the dji fly app says "localizing in the top lefthand corner. i have performed all the steps before correctly.
Great video! Altough I do not need to worry about this I just had to mention that I love the Grande Vista that you must have stayed at (1:11 - 1:18). Great property to fly!!
Hej. After several test in Gothenburg at a same spot with WIFI contaminated area, first 5 times with CE mode and 2 times with FCC mode and I can confirm that its was better with FCC mode, NO message everything worked fine
I tried this hack with the mini 2 and it is not working. Everything is different in the transmission menu section, it just shows a graph with interference frequency and nothing actually changes when I select 2.4GHz/5.8MHz After the hack I was expecting a popup on the screen saying that I'm in a different region with other laws, but nothing came up. It was tested with the latest firmware.

Keep well and be safe
😁
This is correct. I have tested and uninstall and reinstall an older dji fly app 1.12 version if I remember correctly
Yea same problem i cant do this thing anymore after the new update.
someone have a solution?
I have the CE version and I change it to FCC and from a ma distance of 843 meters my mini made a 3026 meters and I stpped it because I was flying over the sea and I got afraid.
maries vilmy is this still the CE version that your talking?
@@joushcaleb7432 yeah CE version, im from indonesia so its CE version , MR1SD25 model
@@mariesvilmy5680 cool!. You said "select the green shortest bar on channel", meaning you put your transmission into manual? is that it?

FCC Hack worked...like a dream
Mike Speekman bro I live in the u.s already do I still have to use a fake gps
good day bro, is there any problem on rth when fake GPS is on?
No it goes back to last recorded position
FCC hack for the win ... Oh my god, you sir are a life saver, I am 2 days away from owning my very own brand new mini in the UK and thank god for your hack, I seriously dont want to lose my new drone due to stupid FCC issues, I already have Fake GPS on my android all ready to go next week.
Again MANY THANKS
I've jist changed the transmission manually and got to the 2,4Ghz with one click. No need for all of these you describe...
I have the European CE hardware that DJI gives 2000m range.
I've reached 3100m with some glitches, but no connection problems.
Tetrakosari Honda Turbo how do you do that? One click?
@@cmdaltctr Ok it's not one. it's 3. Get in the menu, select transmission and then manual and one of the first 11 frequencies. That's it...
Hi, great video. I have just ordered my first drone, a DJI Mini. When you turn off WiFi on your phone, do you still get a live video feed to your device? Again, great video, thank you!
Yes, the phone is connected via the cable so this is only to minimize interference
TECH DRONE MEDIA Thank you, that answered my question. I can’t wait for mine to arrive and have subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work! 👍🏽
@@TECHDRONEMEDIA when picking a channel on 5.8 ghz, would I choose the one with the biggest green bar? Curious
Looks for the most recent video on the topic I’m showing it outdoor
Thank you, as all your Videos, this one is also very useful and insightful. Cheers for now.

This does nothing for the CE model.
CE model and USA model are two different controllers with different hardware.
I follow all the instruction.but still my mavic mini is still on fcc mode. i mean CE mode
yes, the whole purpose is to put it in FCC mode :-)

My remote model mr1ss5 Wich is support 5.8 GHz only.
As I know FCC is 5.8 GHz standard in North America.
So why remote control that can support 5.8 and 2.4 automatically switch to 2.4 if you in USA, when USA standard is 5.8ghz
I can’t verify that as I only have the European version
When you lose your drone using this hack, will you be able to find your drone on the map that dji provides, or will it say that your drone is in the US?
It will have the drones last known location. FakeGPS is only GPS for the phone
If it’s on the phone how can you use another phone that doesn’t have the fake gps app?
Hi,I have the CE version bought in the UK. Currently in Brazil so it automatically jumps to the FCC mode with no hack. It shows 11 channels. Had signal breakup at just over 300m with line of sight so no improvement over its performance in the UK. I was over water/jungle at the time so little interference.
Have you tried disabling the WiFi on your phone
Hi, wifi was off, same set up as in the UK. Phone not in airplane mode though. Seems you get the break up when you do the turn at the end of a run. Also had major problems near buildings with metal corrugated roofs. Had interference at 40m.
Will I have issues flying my drone in the Maldives/ Mavic mini? Do I need this Hack?
Only consider this if you are experiencing connection issue
depends on regulations and if you are flying to foreign countries be carefull cause in many african countries you can loose the drone by crossing the border and they confiscate the drones. And most of all tourist areas hate drones and ban them ... so most likely you will run into problems ... even as a resident.
Drones can deliver transparency and look behind walls and can pictures objects close from the ground and show how rich some people are that do not want that.
Does this do anything for someone that lives in the USA?
I will try that today & I will try to make a short video if it’s working 👍 just want to say that I’m leaving in Ireland & my maximum range for now is around 400m
Let me know how it goes
TECH DRONE MEDIA did work when I was inside house then when I went outside & the drone pickup signals from satellites then automatically jumped back to ce so no luck😣
Was that 400m on the 5.8ghz Lucas. Any further on the 2.4ghz?
If i buy the fcc version of the drone and fly it in europe will i have better range?
Yes, same as in US with this hack
@@TECHDRONEMEDIAok thanks
No. That not true . Application changes power levels based on your localisation. Fcc version will have lowered power based on GPS data. Ce has 2.4 GHz band so its better in eu. Without any hacs ce is better for eu
@@MrOzyreusz but gps will be changed to america
Will the Maps still work when i fly?
Yes
Hi, My mavic mini is FCC model and has only 5.8Ghz option. But i am getting only 500m range. Don't know whether your tips is going to work or not coz your tips is for CE model. Could you please give some suggestions about what i can do?
try and disable your wifi on your phone ans see if it helps
If leave your drone sitting idle it will switch back too, and overheat :)
I'm no expert but this hack would probably only be useful for MT1SS5 / MR1SS5 Drone/Controller combo as they are FCC and SRRC.
I can't make active track work under quick shots. I would have expected that, but it does not work
@@TECHDRONEMEDIA Ok,thanks, DC Rainmaker posted some experiments with the quickshots, but as I'm considering getting a mavic, I was wondering if there are possibilities for something like 'spotlight' on the mavic mini. For example the DJI osmo pocket can lock the gimball on a moving object...
@@martijnwarnaar6255 This is not possible right now, but doable from a technical point of view. Circle is the closet you get to active track, but it's very limited.
It REALLY works! Thank you so much! I did try test flight up to 1700m and connection was still on. I can carry your bag in return ;)
What country do you live in?
Is that works on phantom 3 standard?
Worked for me. I was struggling getting to 400m I've just tried this and went over a mile and was still going
Great it worked out for you
I do exactly what you say in this video.
Thank you sharing your experience .. I think channel 4 is less polluted in your area, might not be for everyone
What’s the app you use when u are using an iPhone
it's not supported on iphone
I have a solution for the issue after the update you cant do that anymore. the solution is delete the dji fly app, download from google apk version 1.1.4 install and you good to go. its still work for me.
