    Should you get climbing withdrawal symptoms, there’s a some relief to be found around Kleve; you could tour Sonsbecker Schweiz, or even the “big hill” at Berg en Dal near Nijmegen.

    I was watching and thought, this looks familiar and yes, that's where I live. Ahrtal is beautiful and on my usual E-Bike route in summer. Nürburgring from your view is about 1000 heightmeters and very steep the last 5 km. This thing needs 500 watts and 1.5-2 KWh battery and I would buy it.

    Great video, and good to see you conquering the hills in the QV. We just moved from Cochem to the Neiderrhein area and it is quite the contrast! I miss the decents, but I really don't miss the hills. Hahahaha! Great review!

    Joseph,
    Thanks for leading ROAM 2011! I did about 5 days starting in Missoula MT. I rode Lightning F40. I have wide shoulders. How is shoulder width of Quattro vs Quest? Is Quattro faster than Quest?

    • @rhein228
      @rhein228  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great to hear from you, John. I remember you well, and also your F40. I believe the yellow dot in the distance ahead was you when I was pedaling up McDonalds Pass.
      My sense is that shoulder width is slightly larger with the QV, though I don’t have measurements for both. As to speed I found QV and Quest to be at the same level speedwise, with some advantage for the four-wheeler with its better cornering.
      The best advice I can give is to go down to Doug Davis‘s shop in Plano TX. His place has become the epicenter of velomobiling in the US, offering direct comparison between most current models on the market. www.bicycle-evolution.com

    Thanks for this, I'm planning on getting a velomobile in the next couple of years but have been unable to decide if I want the speed and sportiness of a DF or the practicality of a QV (or maybe even a quest).

      Maybe the fourwheel DF (still under development) will become your best-of-both-worlds velomobile? www.intercitybike.nl/en/nieuws/42-prototype-4-wieler-is-op-en-naast-de-weg

      Marc van Waardenburg Yes I've heard about that. Definitely one to watch.

      I've got the DF and have a QV on order; different machines obviously but I am looking forward to the practicality of the QV, in terms of accessible storage space. I was not patient enough to wait for the DF4, plus I have a very young nephew and a niece so will be able to treat them soon. Am also watching the DF4 with interest, especially how Daniel will sort out the rear suspension as it doesn't look fully realised at the moment; when I pickup my QV I will test the traction on different surfaces.

    Interesting. You might consider investing in a lavalier and a better windscreen though.

      When i film from behind the visor or from within the shell, the sound is better, but the angle is worse ...

    • @robappleby583
      @robappleby583 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, that's what I was saying. That's why you need a mic behind the visor separate from the camera.

      A gentle note: TH-cam's auto-subtitles can't work with audio like this, so this equates to lack of access for deaf / hard of hearing people like me as well as other people who speak/read other languages. TH-cam subtitles are amazing in that they can easily auto-translate into other languages in basically real-time. I couldn't understand a single thing you said which is unfortunate, I would have really liked to get what you had to say. It was nice to see the Quatrovelo in more depth though, and finally, some footage of the uphill slog. I'm kinda concerned about that as I live on top of a steep hill.

      I'm curious, what do you mean? I can interpret that several ways.

    • @bhtooefr
      @bhtooefr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Laws in many US states don't allow a bicycle to have four wheels, causing it to be classified as either a toy (which cannot use roads), if it's motor-assisted a car that doesn't meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (also forbidden from the roads), or nothing at all (which usually can't use the roads).
      In my state, it's legal as a bicycle, but if it gets even one watt of assist, it's an illegal car. (Although, a two-wheel bicycle with even one watt of assist is an illegal moped or motorcycle.)

    • @andy-the-gardener
      @andy-the-gardener 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bhtooefr got to protect the motor industry. In uk we have draconian ebike restrictions of 250watts to disuade ebike use and protect the motor industry and oil companies. They pretend its for safety, but thats rubbish because cars are legal and kill millions through accidents and illness, and cause global warming and enery depletion which will kill everyone.
