    The 7 cradles of civiliation are not the oldest ones. They are just the 7 places where agriculture and civilization developed independently. The oldest civilizations are probably all middle-eastern as far as we know from the current archeological record. Sumer being a good example.

      The Ancient Near East is considered the cradle of civilization. It was here that year-round intensive farming began to be practiced for the first time, here for the first time in the world writing, the potter's wheel, and then the wheel and millstone arose, the first state, legislation, and then the first empire were created.
