As much as the features in this update might be exciting to some, I find it hard to share the enthusiasm because all I need the Scribe for is writing handwritten notes without hand pain and converting them to text. This feature is rarely discussed, perhaps because people who buy the Scribe and for the most part people who like Kindle devices, which I don't really. Still, if someone could point me to reviews that discuss the handwriting-to-text feature of the Scribe, I'd be extremely grateful.
Possibly some sort of copyright-type issue or maybe the publishers aren't completely on board with it yet or something similar? Companies can get weird about things like that sometimes.
Ebooks are text based. The layout is not stored. This means that if you write something in the margin, it is in a different place for any kind of text size. So your notes can be all over the place. For pdfs the layout is fixed, so the position of your notes can be determined better
The two column in landscape view (and the Word send to Kindle) was in the batch 2 update, not the current batch 3 one. A welcome addition though, for sure.
Thanks for this video. These features are nice. What would make this a good productivity device for me is full mobile office integration, including real-time synching with OneNote. I guess for now I need to go with Boox or iPad for that. Hopefully, deeper office integration will come to a future version of the Scribe. Cheers.
Anyone with a Scribe: I have lots of academic papers that I highlight and mark up on different computers and on Dropbox. Would the scribe be good home base to organize, mark up and access occasionally on other computers, too?
Absolutely. I haven't journaled in YEARS and I've only had this thing for a month, and every day since I've gotten it, I've journaled. I journal and read more than I have in over ten years. Sooo soo worth it if you ask me
Everything sound and nice, but I want to backup via USB. Please Amazon, release your vendor lock-in and respect your customers wish. USB Backup of notes, cloud with the possibility to completely be disabled, that would show some respect.
Amazon is preatty late to the whole e-note game and they will get good over time but.. I would advise everyone to get an other device exept you do like to be impisoned in a ecosystem.

Why can we not have the option to write on any book we want too?

@@j.b.6709 Apparently you can do this with the Kobo Elipsa though. Amazon missed the mark on this one.

Fantastic review for newbies. Greetings from Ireland. My new Kindle Scribe arrives this week!
Thank you for making such a digestible video. Great job!

It's great to see Amazon and Kobo trying to outdo each other. Boox still seems way ahead though at the moment (minus battery efficiency).

Is it ideal for journaling?

I got one I couldn’t help it. I mostly play sudoku on it tho 😂😂😂
It would be great if I can use as a tablet as well. Why they don't make tablets with this features?
Thanks! This just sold me on which device I that I need.
The write on function just fully sold me!!!
Great video. Thank you

Wow. Clearly I missed this great little device! 😢

I want one now
Onenote is what I would want to purchase this device .
Device hardware is great but the device is not cheap and the software is buggy. Not worth the money at this time.
