Man! AD, this was one of the best videos I've seen an OG Soundclick producer. It's so funny how you see all these fakes selling these "Beat Selling Programs", a real money-making producer is giving the real information for free. I admire that about you man. I myself make about $3-4k a month, but you just opened up some way different doors. I appreciate it man. That's a lot of knowledge that you just shared. Good shit man...
Seen a few of these selling beats online vids, most are utter crap..but Anno is on top of it . The best on the net by far, pure business minded genious.
I don't usually subscribe, but because you're giving out valuable information that I feel like the majority of producers who know about this hide... I'M SUBSCRIBING!
Much love for the valuable knowledge. I've been making beats for 7 years now and I haven't had many sales at all. Hopefully I'll get better and more sales will come or something. I will definitely implement some of the tricks learned here.
Thank you for the information. I'd like to ask you though, What has changed since this video ? Could you make an updated video of this and if a whole new video is not needed, what tips relevant to 2015/2016 could you give us ? Thank you ! Peace
Anno Domini Beats I have the music maker theme, which comes with a beatstore,,but can only sell mp3,,,i don't know the best way to send wav files after they buy a wav license..What plugin are you referring too?
Thank you for the video..I have a lot of music a soundclound and a wix but I just don't know where to go next what can I do to start bringing in sum money?
is there anything specific about putting up a beat with a license? such as paperwork or anything in writing? or i just write "lease" or "exclusive license"? thanks for the video!
I would definitely try to follow as many of these as possible. You might do ok selling just a beat tape, but I would sell leases, exclusives, sync licenses and so on too.
Man...that was probably one of the best and most informative videos I've watched in a long time. Is there an updated version? Theres so many of these sites it seems hard to know where to start. At least this video gives an awesome starting point...I should of been doing this haha. Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Subscribed!
Hey man, great video... I have recently discovered that songs that I make with vocals are more usable for videos as instrumentals... you can't win 'em all... but I know that they are good for whatever instrumentals are good for... but I was wondering what is a healthy number of beats to get started with? And also do you do generally one genre or do you float across several?
Al Stone Personally I do several genres but some producers stick to one niche. Just do what inspires you! I would say you should have at least 30+ good beats before you start promoting heavily.
Anno Domini Beats and "Promoting heavily" is basically what you outlined in the video? or are there other ways as well... also if you have the time could you check out www.soundcloud.com/dangerdust ... I would love an opinion of a professional beat maker/producer... thanks man
Okay so now what do we do next after we have gotten our IBM account set up? Should producers get a IBM license too? Or does it just depend? Either way, thank you for responding, I know your schedule is probably hectic but its cool how you chat with us. :D
Marko Jovic Well why I in no way condone it, I have heard that it is possible to use a proxy server and set your location to the United States, then sign up for Pandora and Spotify ;)
this was an incredible video. my question really is about copyrighting n the steps prior 2 selling. im still not sure like i know u can license 1 song or a bundle, but im still unclear if the bundle has to be distributed as a bundle after copyrighted....or can they still be individually focused
okay anno, im looking into this and wondering do i have to follow a specific grid style and how the song is arranged or do i make my own style and everything and if they people like it they will want to purchase it? Is that the whole point, making something new?
Chase Mormur However you like, though a standard rap beat has 16 bar verses and 4 bar hooks. Usually 3 of each with an intro and outro to go along with it.
I am new to this concept and considering selling beats on the side for extra income. I love rap beats with a healthy dose of some heavy guitar and other elements of rock blended together. I am not sure how readily available you are but i would like to keep in touch with someone who has a bit of "know-how" about this industry.
This may seem like an amateur question but what if i put up a beat for lease while selling the mp3's on itunes, will I be in any violation because I've sold that beat on itunes and now I don't own it?
Sorry, I've since understood the answer to this question, you can do whatever with your own beat (leasing and selling mp3's). That is until you sell the exclusive rights to the beats then you're not allowed to do anything else with the beat with the exception of: If you've already leased the beat before you sell the exclusive rights to it, that lease will still be active/unaffected until the lease runs out. Thank you very much for your time.
First of all, Anno Domini, you are my favorite producer of all time, your beats are sick! Keep it up bro!And thanks for the tips!I have a small You Tube channel, so I have a problem to get to the people who actually need my beats, so I think it's a good idea for you to make a video about growing ''industry'', that could help small and talented producersOnce again, I love your beats man! :)
Very informative video, thanks a lot. I just have a few questions, if you don't mind;) 1- Do you send a contract with your beat? 2- Should I need to pay a lawyer, or is it possible to find legal contracts online for leasing/exclusive beats? 3- Have you ever suited a byer? 4- For leasing beats, is it, usually, for an unlimited use? if not, and How do you know that the byer would not use the beat more than 2 000 times for example?
Wil B Yes I send a contract. You can find templates at annodominination.com/blog I wrote an article about it. What do you mean by suited a byer? A typical lease will be around 2000 units.
Anno Domini Beats I mean you've never had issues with a buyer? What if he does not respect the contract? Is there a way to control the number of unit he sells? Did you make your own tagged voice or do we have to buy one? Again, thanks for sharing;)
hey man I'm a struggling artist/beat maker I'm working 56 hours a week time is short but I have an I'll mind was wondering if you could help me with time management do you have any suggestions? I just find time is my worst enemy how did you overcome this hit me up plus love the video man hella legit and to the point wish I had your drive anyway thanks for the demonstration and be waiting to hear back from you
+Andrew Simmons Organization is key - come up with a daily time table which you always prepare the night before and break up your work into 45-60 minute blocks of intense work then you can have a 15 minute break. You'll be super productive that way.

Yo anno, would you say that all i need is CD Baby and a beat tape to sell well? (as well as dope beats obviously)
I would definitely try to follow as many of these as possible. You might do ok selling just a beat tape, but I would sell leases, exclusives, sync licenses and so on too.
oh yeah i know that bro, but what i was saying is for a beat tape, would cd baby be all i need in terms for the beat tape
Oh yes, they distribute it for you to itunes, amazon, rhapsody, deezer, spotify and so on. So you should be good with just that.

BMI is great, Ascap also. Depends what you prefer
Okay so now what do we do next after we have gotten our IBM account set up? Should producers get a IBM license too? Or does it just depend? Either way, thank you for responding, I know your schedule is probably hectic but its cool how you chat with us. :D

They can be individual that's not a problem
Hello, I have a question. If I put, for exemple, a look pack on a site, will it be exclusive for this site or can I put it on many website ???
It depends on the site, but usually it is non-exclusive so you can put it on many sites. Only a few want exclusive only.
okay anno, im looking into this and wondering do i have to follow a specific grid style and how the song is arranged or do i make my own style and everything and if they people like it they will want to purchase it? Is that the whole point, making something new?
