I have had OCD for years and years ..my home Is a mess because i am stressed all the time and i have no Energy.. It drains me...not true that ocd Is about cleaning ..Its about that voice in your head telling you what to do and what not to do...it threats you all the time..it can even not let you clean...It can tell you " you are not allowed to clean that or you will die etc" it is a nightmare when awake...intrusive thoughts can pop into your mind all the time even when nothing really triggers It ..Its like a disk on replay. I hate It. I Hope these people get good treatment and recover.

Yes he s correct it's a false saving mental health was cut back on years ago. I once applied gp gave me a card with email told 4 month wait . I was feeling so ill with depression. Not only that filling in a on line survey when your mind is all over the place is really hard. There over stretched and it's costing lives. Mental illness is very much misunderstood.

@@romancorey6796 that's a great shame, ERP therapy helps massively and is the best treatment however the two issues that as far as I can see that would really stop them from recovering is firstly that they live together (It's a tough one I know but personally having lived away from another person who also has ocd for a while it's not a good dynamic if recovery is a goal) and secondly lack of access to a decent therapist, It requires hard work and help from a professional. it's difficult but recovery is absolutely possible.

I know the OCD isn't a rational thing, but is the reason Lesley is avoiding germs so much because she fears for her life? She doesn't have a life. I'd rather get ill and end up in the hospital than exist like this. It's surely fear of the unknown, she'd probably even feel some relief if something like this happened as it would force her into seeing things clearly. Unfortunately she can't possibly realise it as she is now. She thinks she's playing it safe, but the real horror is living the way she is, trying to keep an illusory control. Everything is temporary and it's more about coming to an acceptance of that rather than clinging tightly to what slips through our fingers regardless.

It's a well-known fact that earrings and piercings harbour bacteria and can cause infections, so how would she have found the courage to get them done in the first place? Having them done doesn't fit in with her phobia.
