I do yoga all the time however these moves are brilliant, My wrist and along the shoulder are always sore. You know the brilliant roads we have, yes pot hole , more in Britain than on the moon.
Usually, when I watch 20-minute videos with the tag "Yoga", yoga itself ends somewhere around the 5th minute. GCN expanded my mind today. Thank you, Dan
Every time I need to do stretching or yoga exercises, I come back to this video and jump straight to 13:07. Then I feel so much better, thanks so much Dan, I can relate
Thanks for this video! I really appreciate Bex's very clear instructions on how to do the different poses. It would be great to add more videos like this to the GCN Training video library!
This is a brilliant video. I'm a cyclist and yoga teacher and absolutely love the combination. My boyfriend is also a keen yogi and avid cyclist and has really found the benefit with stretching out the body, becoming more intune with it and strengthening other muscles which aren't always activated whilst on the bike.
have to be honest , started to watch this to see how Dan falls over but damn it this is good, think will need to start doing some of these particular Yoga exercises and they are so well explained that I can do them from home
I saw this clip March last year. It inspired me to start with yoga, first on my own and then in August at a studio. I do Vinyasa yoga now two times a week and it is indeed a good thing for the cyklist in me. Thanks for the inpiration!
... And relax.. Dan, I was expecting a 4 legged spider with dribble on his chin (like me) but no.. that was pretty good mate.. I'm feeling inspired sipping my morning coffee.. might join a yoga class..
Ace video. It just goes to show how stiff our bodies get over time without stretching/yoga, especially when in a cycling position. I will definitely add these into my routine!
I freely admit I've never gotten to the point of objectively enjoying yoga/strengthening/stretching, but it also seems crucial to keeping me injury free on my bike and running. It's worth it!
dan have a go at jump into the arm balance , shoulder to arm pressure pose. youll be able to do it because you did a vid on how save yourself from going over the bars with the same technique.
Great Video! I'm a sucker for the ones with Dan and Si... Some really good stretches in here:) I really enjoy teaching hamstring straightening as well as stretching and more simple back poses for strength and flexibility. Poses like sphinx and locust are great to start with before bow... though the cushion under the chest does help. Another key point is to stretch after the ride not before. All the scientific data suggests pre ride stretching slows riders down. I've been cycling and teaching yoga for ages.... I'd love to collaborate with GCN at some point! Cheers Gabriel
Dan Dan the slightly stiff man I Could watch this video all day it would not make me bend like you Dan well done keep it up great video why not get all the shows presenters to have a go ( John u can do this)
at last one i can comment on! i have done yoga every morning for 28 years (yeah, i know). the most common thing that i see omitted from yoga videos is you must concentrate on your pose. try to empty your mind and just be. for instance thinking of a large colored ball, then take the ball away. yoga and meditation are kind of inseparable. i`m in no way religious but think of the meditation as part of the pose, without it you will only be stretching your body about. enjoy!
Bloody Hell, Dan ,you are a Legend ! So impressive. !!! That is a tough routine, and to put ones self out there for all the world critique. Chapeau my friend. I have book marked this to see how long it takes me to achieve this. Think you might have just made Hero ( in my books ,anyway)
Really good Dan, I have a feeling your fellow presenters will be bugging you about this though. Shall we start preparing for the caption contest? Either way great work
How about a yoga video for beginning cyclists who are old men? i.e. simple moves that a person can progress from to these more complicated contortions.
So Dan, are you still using yoga? I've been thinking of adding yoga into my routine, it would be great to know if you've seen a benefit over the past few years.
Good effort Dan.. Its like me regards frustration.. I really really want to add yoga to my workout but..... Frustrating as I'm shite! I was waiting for her to say. "Dan, your option is to walk out the room with your tail between your legs.... If it's available Dan".... Kudos Dan and super vid....
This is amazing material, what about if someone like Katherine were put through this? No, I'm not saying this just to see a pretty lass get featured more often, but I've got serious concerns for the demands of flexibility, particularly for off-road riding (cross and gravel). I think this'll be heaps of good stuff for non-pros like her and me (and a lot of mere mortals).
Nicely done, Dan and Bex! I've been road cycling since 1989 and went through a 10 month yoga teacher training program in 2011. I did my YTT project on Yoga & Cycling Anatomy: www.slideshare.net/mattleveque/yoga-cycling-anatomy ... A couple of things I'd share with Dan - some of those postures are really difficult so don't be frustrated. And yes, you can gain strength and flexibility benefits by practicing yoga, but those are secondary. Learning to breathe (in and out through your nose) and quieting your mind are the main benefits. Once I began practicing yoga I was keenly more aware and relaxed when cycling. It's kinda like Velominati Rule #6 - Free your mind and your legs will follow... Chapeau and good luck with your practice.
Truly inspiring! you're on off the calisthenics athletes don't got me interested into doing calisthenics. I started last year and never want to stop. #monkeybargym
Do you use yoga to compliment your cycling?
I do yoga all the time however these moves are brilliant, My wrist and along the shoulder are always sore. You know the brilliant roads we have, yes pot hole , more in Britain than on the moon.
That is hard, the shoulder one but Dan did fantastic, hot yoga is just brilliant, it was easy to stretch..
Wow! Dan did you YOU were that flexible. What's Dan doing with hus toes.
I am beginning to. I went to a class a few weeks ago, it was a bit advanced for me.
The Pigeon Pose I love, as it is the easiest for me.
You could rename this video "10 exercises that I will never do." :D
This has to be one of GCN's most unintentionally entertaining videos
"I've already inhaled, give me a second." 😂😂
😂😂😂😂👍👍👍
Usually, when I watch 20-minute videos with the tag "Yoga", yoga itself ends somewhere around the 5th minute. GCN expanded my mind today. Thank you, Dan
Glad to see you in with an instructor! I’m a 41 year old 4 season car free commuter and yoga is THE saving grace for an older rider. Keep it up!!
For someone who doesn't do much yoga Dan's pretty flexible.
Every time I need to do stretching or yoga exercises, I come back to this video and jump straight to 13:07. Then I feel so much better, thanks so much Dan, I can relate
Well done, Dan. Anyone who says yoga isn’t exercise is mad. Staying flexible not only strengthens your body, but also your mind.
Blimey! Well done Dan. No need to worry about that historic VO2 score, now you've proven you're a Yoga master!
This is the kind of content that makes me always come back to GCN even though I live the GMBN life! Thanks Bex!
the main idea of yoga is to feel the stretching of the muscles. Holding the "aasanas" for long enough also increases muscle strength.
Thanks for the video Dan and Bex, I should have done this years ago. Inspirational!
Thanks for this video! I really appreciate Bex's very clear instructions on how to do the different poses. It would be great to add more videos like this to the GCN Training video library!
I've been doing yoga for about three years now and I'm nowhere near stiff as I used to be after a long ride...unfortunately my wife thinks so too .
Lol
😅
😂😂
😂😂😂
She's not a yoga teacher then?
This is a brilliant video. I'm a cyclist and yoga teacher and absolutely love the combination. My boyfriend is also a keen yogi and avid cyclist and has really found the benefit with stretching out the body, becoming more intune with it and strengthening other muscles which aren't always activated whilst on the bike.
Yoga is a great wake up call. Made me realise quads are a lot tighter than they should be.
More Bex please! 🤪
Indeed! Always interesting watching a pro work.
Dan is stiffer than my bottom bracket
that's hard
Boss is a stiff man
Yeah, looks like he's saying - ah come on GCN, why are you making me do this.
LOL Stiff as a board
Hambini, where are you? :)
have to be honest , started to watch this to see how Dan falls over but damn it this is good, think will need to start doing some of these particular Yoga exercises and they are so well explained that I can do them from home
Well done Dan, you have encouraged me to pursue yoga to improve my riding. Thank you.
I'm 48 and never done any yoga before but loved that and will try the 35mins session tomorrow. Thank you and well done Dan.
Bex is amazing
Thanks Dan! What a man! I hate doing yoga because I get just as frustrated and I can’t do half of the crap! Very happy I’m not alone! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Three times a week. Good video. Thanks.
That is soo good to hear & see the corrections of a professional :) Dan is doing really good actually in comparison to meeeeee aaaaaah!
I saw this clip March last year. It inspired me to start with yoga, first on my own and then in August at a studio. I do Vinyasa yoga now two times a week and it is indeed a good thing for the cyklist in me. Thanks for the inpiration!
Get it Dan! Zero to Hero no doubt, I'm rooting for you! Great informative video, will be using these techniques in my workout routine!
Legendary! Admirable and inspirational effort, Dan. Hilariously entertaining. Much respect to you.
... And relax.. Dan, I was expecting a 4 legged spider with dribble on his chin (like me) but no.. that was pretty good mate.. I'm feeling inspired sipping my morning coffee.. might join a yoga class..
Well done Dan. I think you did really well. Yoga is great for cyclist
Thank you. I know that I've needed to integrate yoga for about a year, now, but haven't done it.
Ace video. It just goes to show how stiff our bodies get over time without stretching/yoga, especially when in a cycling position. I will definitely add these into my routine!
I do yoga for both running and cycling...enjoyed it so much I did yoga teacher training too!
I freely admit I've never gotten to the point of objectively enjoying yoga/strengthening/stretching, but it also seems crucial to keeping me injury free on my bike and running. It's worth it!
Great Video Dan you did well i must try some of that yoga .
6:28 this is when I lost it 🤣 - but seriously inspiring, nice video Dan and Bex
Dan, you’re doing much better than most of us👍
Youre a stud Dan...well done mate
Good effort Dan! Whenever I attempt yoga I sound like a bowl of Rice Krispies....Snap....Crackle....POP....
dan have a go at jump into the arm balance , shoulder to arm pressure pose. youll be able to do it because you did a vid on how save yourself from going over the bars with the same technique.
Dan, you're a good sport. You've inspired me to give yoga a try. But maybe not on camera.
This was brilliant. Thanks! I do lots of yoga to assist my cycling.
Dan mate, you surely are flexible! Quite impressed
Bex still knocks me out 💪 💪 💪
Bravo 👏🏻 Dan. Nice 👍🏼 Work!
Well Done dan. Yoga and pilates are both hard.
استفد صراحة ، اخيراً وجدت ترجمة باللغة العربية 😍👌🏻
Yep, great work Dan, yes her voice is so soothing I'd have been out like a light, fair play for staying awake :-)
Great Video! I'm a sucker for the ones with Dan and Si... I'd like to see a video of Bex and Peter Sagan doing yoga
Won't be surprised to see the likes of Pete doing stuff like this, tbh. Those sprints can be pretty demanding.
A lot harder than it looks isn't ...nicely done dan. Dolphin is always a challenge
13:07 my face when I realised that I've forgotten my helmet at home, halfway through the ride
Watching Dan struggle with poses makes me feel normal. Fat, but normal.
Very good teacher, and great exercises ! Thx
Dan Dan the slightly stiff man I Could watch this video all day it would not make me bend like you Dan well done keep it up great video why not get all the shows presenters to have a go ( John u can do this)

kudo s dan like the excersies will have to try them, great video
12:36 "Feel ok Dan?" Dan all concentrated: "Uhu"
Thank you for the video. Well done!

This was a really lovely practise, thank you :) I actually made a yoga for BMX riders people may also find helpful :) x
Thank you
Really good Dan, I have a feeling your fellow presenters will be bugging you about this though. Shall we start preparing for the caption contest? Either way great work
Hahaha that could be wise...
If this'll be a competition, I've a feeling that Emma (obviously) and/or Hank/Chris (possibly) have a huge lead. 😁
Well done pal Awesome.
Great video I'd love to try yoga bex is amazing
Dan you survived the yoga class! Now my artificial hip hurts!
Great yoga teacher, she corrected the same mistakes I was doing. 😂Is she giving online lessons?
Yoga is incredibly beneficial, but I am much like Dan. I do it at home but who the heck knows if im doing it right...
Wow, go Dan!
How about a yoga video for beginning cyclists who are old men? i.e. simple moves that a person can progress from to these more complicated contortions.
I had a yoga course once at work, just to try out. I am flexible but I cant coordinate movements, hold and breathing all together. xD
Try Pilates, much more engagement with the relevant muscles and tendons. However I must compliment the Yoga instructor in targeting the right groups!
So Dan, are you still using yoga? I've been thinking of adding yoga into my routine, it would be great to know if you've seen a benefit over the past few years.
So relaxing
Is good to see Dan is as "flexible" as I am. ;-)
Plz more 😊
Good effort Dan.. Its like me regards frustration.. I really really want to add yoga to my workout but..... Frustrating as I'm shite! I was waiting for her to say. "Dan, your option is to walk out the room with your tail between your legs.... If it's available Dan".... Kudos

Yes that's right
Dan Dan the yoga man
Nicely done, Dan and Bex! I've been road cycling since 1989 and went through a 10 month yoga teacher training program in 2011. Quieting the mind for cycling... This is underrated.
I do Pilates twice a week Made a huge differance to my cycling
Gonna stick to regular stretching
Recognised a lot of these from karate warmups
Oh was Dan in there only just seen him .
Great job Dan. Not as easy as it looks. 😉 One step at a time. Start with going from zero to pillow thrower. Lol.
Girder Dan!
Truly inspiring! you're on off the calisthenics athletes don't got me interested into doing calisthenics. I started last year and never want to stop. #monkeybargym
@DanLloyd Nice scare on the right shin. Racing?
That was where I raced Oli Bridgewood up a hill in a kids park and tried to remount my bike. Dan
@@gcn So does the GCN Health plan cover the wounds acquired while making videos?
Done
Bloomin eck, I can't even do the first one, my limbs just don't go there!!
Does anyone know what all those technical words mean? Piraformis?
It's a musle that lies under the glute in the buttock region. Google can help you out further.
no fart at all, nice job 👍
this mustve been Dan's longest training session so far
Encouragement...boom.
After five months of (nearly) daily yoga, I STILL don’t/can’t bend into most of these shapes.
I look at Dan , and always reminds me WHY I never wear shorts!
Yoda is wise.
Dan the man still has game, and he didn't even say much.
I use Pilates instead
Wow
