1978 Eurovision Presenter Denise Fabre Born Sep. 5 - 1942.
She is 78 years old as of this date.
The Second Presenter was Leon Zitrone (1914 - 1995).
He died on his 81 st Birthday.

Colm Wilkinson was the singer representing Ireland in 1978.
He was the First Unshaven singer Ireland sent to the Contest.
He was also the first of THREE members of the original Les Miserables cast on West End to take part in Eurovision!

Ceux qui disent que l'Eurovision 1978 n'était pas bien, dites vous que beaucoup d'innovations ont été réalisées comme le multi-écrans , pendant le vote. C'était totalement inédit, également l'orchestre qui pouvait tourner. C'est une année avec de bonnes chansons. Le travail de lumières et de projecteurs sur le fond de scène était nouveau. Bref, regardez les anciens Eurovision et vous verrez les innovations de cette année

Bravo Israel a worthy winner - we love you! Izhar Cohen & Alphabeta gave a great performance. They also included surely the tallest backing singer in Eurovision history ? It is impressive to see him towering over everybody and dancing so well.
It made me wonder if any of Alphabeta went on to solo careers too?
Jean Vallee certainly sang well and merited his points. This was a strong contest over all. I think Ireen Sheer deserved more for her performance of Feuer, but all in all a good show.
Oh! Unforgettable Werner Veigel. Best German commentator ever!

Israel became the 13th Country to win the Eurovision Song Contest.
So it's male domination that year. Most of the top 10 countries are male artists, with three on the Top 3. France (charming 😊), Belgium (gorgeous in white suit), and Israel (has the most adorable afro hair IMO)

A memorable contest in Paris with some great entries, but the camerawork and lighting were both beyond atrocious. The UK strangely got their first ever placing outside the top-10. I've never been able to get on the love train for the rather half-composed Belgian song, but Luxembourg deserved to finish a lot higher than they did. Even though the scoreboard is very ugly, it was very innovative to split between the green room, presenters and scoreboard at parts - something Italy should've thought of in 1991!
We've seen uglier scoreboards precisely in 1991 and also this year 😅

Aslında sahneye asansörle de çıkılabilirdi..diyerek espriyi patlatıyormuşum..İyi ki asansörde kalmadılar..Ayrıca hemen hemen bütün ülkelerde dikkatimi çeken bir şey var..Sürekli 4 kişilik bir grup öğrencilerin musamere gününde sergiledikleri gösterileri gibi şarkılarını söyleyip gidiyorlar.O yıllarda 4 kişilik grup saplantısı vardı herhalde..Yada modaydı diyelim..Bu arada Nilüferin ve Grup nazarın emeğine sağlık..Gönüllerin birincisisiniz..

The winner was very befitting of the era in music where disco reigned supreme. I don't mind the winning song quite honestly

United Kingdom should have won. Great catchy tune, typical Eurovision winner. And nice stage presence. I believe this shocking placing destroyed the band, Co-Co. Sadly.

a very weak year in between two strong ones.... Israel's entry is the only one to remember until today. Deserved winner. The rest was forgettable, old fashioned and outdated.
True, both 77 and 79 were the best of that decade.

Un mauvais orchestre pas du tout capable d'adapter du pur disco (Luxembourg-Allemagne).
L'Orchestre de Paris n'était pas préparé pour. En 1978, les instruments pour le disco n'étaient pas assez développés.
Donc oui, ça fait plus tache qu'en studio mais c'est compréhensible

La verdad este fue uno de los años mas flojos, este y el anterior me parecieron mediocres en canciones y esos aburridas intervalos, aburridos conductores y ni hubo postales. Festival olvidable👎
