I’m very close to retiring, and I need to get out of St. Louis, I’ll have two pensions and social security, also some VA disability, I know I will be able to live comfortably anywhere besides here 😢
Yes lots of options!
Small world. My father in law’s name is Willie Calhoun. Best wishes on whatever you decide.
I wanna be like that 70 year old goddess! She’s so inspirational! Just picked up and moved on her own. Love her!
Me too
I am 81 living in Queretaro since 2021. I am a widow with a daughter 43, who teaches English around the world, currently in Bali.
I showed her how t travel from 11 months young. Travel is the very best education and I started at 20 with Mexico, mainly Acapulco,
I do speak Spanish as a second language from age 14.
Great advice!

Perfect!
Happy holidays. I'm fed up as well in US. I would like to know more about living in peace. I'm interested in living in Costa Rica
There are lots of blogs, websites and TH-cam channels out there now or join my FB group Black Expats in Costa Rica
Costa Rica is almost a communist nation now. It has taken away the benefits they gave to Americans. It is on te decline. Also stay away from San Jose the capital at night if you are a foreigner.
I’m costarican living in Atlanta, can’t wait to move back to motherland . Congrats to all of you.
Thanks!!
Absolutely fantastic content! Looking forward to watching part 2!
Thank you!
SHE LOOKS AMAZING FOR 70 MY GOD!!!!
News years ago, said that the US sends out more retirement checks overseas than they do in America ! I see why . Hopefully I will on my way with my chihuahua ...soon.
Hmmm very interesting.
Great conversation
Hello, my name is Debra. I will be in Costa Rica in November 2024. I'm looking to move there within the next 6 months. I have never been there, but with prayer, I believe this place is for me. I love to connect with you when I get there.
I am planning my exit from the united states. I'm just trying to get family on board. Costa Rica is on my radar ❤
Good choice!!!
@blackexpatslivinglifeabroa1178 Would you know if there is list of companies that offer cultural relocation tours in CR in addition to the one the young lady here mentioned?
I visited Costa Rica and really loved it. Stayed in Guanacaste at an Airbnb. It’s been in my radar as a place to move to upon my retirement.
@@Cmizz1 Sorry. No I do not know of a list.
Greetings from Ohio. Very inspirational! Relocation tours in 2023!
My wife and I are moving to Guanacaste CR in 2 years. We would like to connect with Kima and her husband.
Great!!!
Try Kema on her website
I can't get over this 50 year old sister. My girl could pass as her grown up children age. I need some of what she has
This is so inspirational. I’m trying to get my hubby to agree to move abroad.
Thanks and good luck with hubby!!!
@@blackexpatslivinglifeabroa1178 thanks I’m sending him these videos to soften him up. Thx for the excellent content
Good morning, NY time. Would love to become an expat but I have an elderly mom who doesn’t want to move and I’m an only child so it’s solely on me to look out for her. The climate in either of these countries would do a lot for her health wise. What do I do?
That's a hard one and is different for each person. If you think your mother will get used to it once you make the move then you might want to go ahead and try it or better yet bring her for a visit first and break her in gradually. If she is going to be miserable you will be too and eventually you will leave.
I'm in the same boat just the only girl but ready to go so I'm doing research and I'm dragging her with me if only for a few weeks at a time.

I have drawn to sell my house in Metro Atlanta and move to Costa Rica or Bermuda . I AM so excited I found your channel!
Do it!!! I will be in ATL in a few months to visit. Haven't been back to the states in 7 yrs
I'm in Atlanta and looking for change as well.
x2
I’ m in Atlanta and looking to move to CR too. I’m considering Puerta Viejo. Visiting in September to check it out. Let’s connect.
I am a retiree widow Afro Cuban and Ethiopian. I want to visit Costa Rica
ok and what is stopping you? Do it!!!🤣
This is so encouraging and beautiful 😭 my partner and I are 47 and 49 respectively and planning to move abroad and have just started the research because we travel a lot but only want to settle in a place that’s welcoming of our black skin! Like Big Will we are in the DMV and have in the last year started transitioning from our jobs as DC public school teacher and a remote/hybrid government contractor with DHS and launched our health and wellness businesses. I’m a massage therapist holistic healer with lymphatic and postpartum specialties and he is a Vegan Fitness and performance trainer and nutritionist and we want to be sure we can sustain ourselves and have a community of other like minded POC. I hope to connect with some if not all of you! ❤ 🙏🏾
Thank you for your comment. Looks like you are doing your research which is the number 1 rule!!! How to meet you if you decide on Costa Rica. We could use your services here.
Such an interesting video. I loved the experiences of each guest. Everyone's desires and dreams are different. Hearing them speak makes me feel so relieved for them. Thanks for sharing.😊😊😊
You are welcome. Thanks for watching!
Greetings! I am a former Bay Area resident. I lived in San Francisco and Oakland. Left California for DC in 2013. Spent 4 months in Panama in 2011. Time to go back but I want to do Costa Rica first. Where are most of the Black expats living? The US is off the meter. Time for a change.
Hey there - Yes! The Caribbean side near Puerto Viejo has largest group
@@blackexpatslivinglifeabroa1178is it true you can't drink the water on that side?
???@@lucindajenkins8693
@@blackexpatslivinglifeabroa1178 In a video a girl said you cannot drink the water on the Caribbean side. I wanted to know if that was true or not. I would love to be on that side. 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
@@lucindajenkins8693 it depends - in the town on Puerto Viejo and at restaurants it's fine, if you are somewhere else and it's from a rooftop tank you might need to ask. However, you can always ask wherever you visiting to living they will tell you. I usually just get bottle water but it's not like in MX where you don't drink the water anywhere
GM, NY time. Just seeing this. Ocean, I noticed you were wearing a shirt from Moshood. Since you mentioned house music. I do wonder if there is a soulful house music scene in Costa Rica?
Sadly, there isn’t a House Music scene here in CR, nor have I heard it played at any venue. Afrobeat and reggae is the music here in PV.
The lady who said she lives at the beaches for the great IInternational schools , what schools and what Beaches and what schools is she talking about? No names of her location were given. Please advise
which country? Art you referring to Panama? If so I am sorry, I can't answer that as I live in Costa Rica.
thank you so much for this conversation. been thinking about moving to costa rica or panama, this was much needed
Thank you
Ouuu Love love love this video! Can't wait to see Part 2 of 2. Is there a possibility to discuss the emotions on leaving parents, adult children, family and friends back in the U.S?
There may be a little talk about it.
Question, do you all have dual citizenship with US or did you renounce us citizenship & become permanent resident of Panama or CR?
In Costa Rica - We have residency. Takes about 7 yrs before you can apply for citizenship at which time we will have dual citizenship. Not planning to give up US citizenship and also BTW they charge for that!!(hope that doesn't surprise you!!🤣)
@@blackexpatslivinglifeabroa1178 doesn’t surprise me. Just wanted to know how you guys went about that process. Thanks for the continuous great content.
@@TimmerTheChipper Yes quite expensive to give up your US citizenship LOL But it has it perks so hang on to it. We have renewed our residency twice I think the next renewal time we can begin the citizenship process 🤞 And thanks for your support!!!!
72 hrs seen a positive changes the food natural was wonderful.
This is great. I have been doing a lot of research!!! I click on this video and I see my College Track teammate
Kema Ward-Hooper ! I remember the challenges she faced. Shes a warrior 💪🏽 This gave more inspiration to do what I know will bring a peace of mind to my family!! Great video
How cool!! I am interviewing her next week too. Stay Tuned!!
I’m so glad I found this YT channel. I will be visiting Panama mid July and am interested in exploring various parts of Panama to move there within 12-15 months. Would love to connect with the black expats group.

Americans make relocating seem so easy. Wish it was so easy persons from the Caribbean islands to also relocate
I’m YT and I swear it makes me cry when I hear stories like this IM SO HAPPY FOR THEM❤❤❤❤❤❤
video is soo refreshing, and it's true you'll get healthier once you leave the states. I was at my healthiest when I lived in Beijing, the lack of stress was just amazing.
I can't wait to leave again, and hope it'll be permanently this go round.
I sure feel better🤣
Traveling to scout the place in 2023. I need the info on the service for potential ex-pats!
where are you scouting?
There were 2 listed: Black Expats in Panama and Melanin Tours
Prayers sent to Morocco and the world.
Wow sis this is beautiful!!! ❤
Thank you!!!
Quite a few expats or potential expats have brought up politics, specifically Trump, as being a deciding factor for their move. I wonder however in the hundreds of years that black people have been in this country, when were we ever safe? When has living in America been a good thing for us? I must have missed that. 🤔
This has excited me so much !! I’m ready to come NOW
✈ well alright!!!
Wow, this is a highly positive and useful channel for anyone who wants to move to Central of South America. I appreciate the moving and genuine life stories of folks who got up the courage and resolve to move. I am considering such a move, but like many folks my age I feel the need to save up more $$ and/or pay down the mortgage. Ahh. Also, I was impressed by the young woman who moved to Germany and later to Panama (I think) with her school age kids. I know there are online schooling possibilities,...but the wife is concerned about this. Kinda like a stopper. Any thoughts?
Hola - I don't have much info on Panama but you can try contacting the person directly. I think they gave out their contact info at the end of the video. Good luck and thanks for watching and your response.
do it
I hate to hear that about Boquete I’m yt and I don’t want to be around racism
Good information, thank you for sharing.
Thanks and You are welcome!
Been following you all for a couple of years. Still don’t know exactly how to start. Best way to narrow down where to live in Costa Rica?
Probably time to make a visit. Visit the Central Valley and choose a beach town or 2. i.e Puerto Viejo, Tamarindo, Playa del Coco, Jaco and go from there
good timing, bc I'm seriously considering costa rica
Happy to have helped!
What are your thoughts on Belize?
haha I don't really have any. Haven't been. but..I heard some folks really like it. I was a bit turned off due the crime stats. Prob depends on what you are looking for.
Puerto Viejo is next on my list!!!
WE have a small tribe going over there!
Thank you for all the info and perspective 😌 I’m considering moving there by the end of the this year. I’m planning on visiting Panamá next month for a few days. Any advice?
So how y'all deal with leaving family behind though?
LOTS of videos on this topic. For me, it's a short ride back to the states and social media, face time etc makes communicating so easy. The world is a lot smaller these days LOL however, if you are someone who just can't stand to be away from the family it might be hard to do or try MX, as it is closer to the US.
@@blackexpatslivinglifeabroa1178 oh no, I'm heading your way as soon as online income is secured
