  • @luisdaniel75
    @luisdaniel75 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome work, I've been here for a while learning from you guys to make my own project in the near future. Just a comment, I realized that in the front A arms there is no the same distance in height in the frame side than in the steering nuckle side, as a consequence, when your tires move up or down, you loose your camber alignment. And I confirmed my suspicious when you drop the kart from the front part, you can see how the tires loose the camber alignment.

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s called camber gain and it’s on purpose. Thank you for joining in on the fun.

  • @Devin14747
    @Devin14747 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Could you put longer arms to give it more ground clearance or would it mak it to weak im thinking of making one of these instead of a rzr but i would want taller for ruts and more general off road

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The arms don’t need to be longer… they can be set up with tons of clearance and travel and still have a 62” width. Shocks, tires and setup is how you get all of that. That’s why it is a “VF” for variable frame, you decide how you want it set up.

  • @Chango99
    @Chango99 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice work man! Awesome projects! One question, how do you know what shocks you have to use in your designs? or how do you choose them

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks man! My choice of shocks is definitely used. I look for threaded bodies for preload adjustment and I look at spring diameters to see if the springs can be swapped out. And obviously I look for good deals. $100 bucks per corner for a good used name brand adjustable shock is absolutely worth every penny. As far as shocks for my design; I design to have a lot of options for mounting and ride heights using triangulation and crossmembers. My chassis could use 25” shocks as well as it could use 12” shocks.

    How are you liking the 459? I've put one in an old Honda Odyssey. No governor with a 34mm mikuni and Robertson's torque tube header, it's pretty quick. I'm running a 40 series with 9t and 60t. 23" rear tires.

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the 459 is fantastic! It was easy to set up, it has plenty of power and I haven’t even upgraded it yet! The budget build is quickly turning into my wifes/daughters kart. Although I definitely like to get some wheel time in on it too!

    • @Lochlan112
      @Lochlan112 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How were you able to actually buy something from Robertson's Torque Tubes? Everytime I've tried (multiple different times about multiple different headers) to no avail! He always says he doesn't have whichever header I'm wanting in stock and that he'll email me in a couple of weeks, never does. 🤔

    Total cost for all parts minus the motor? I bought plans: vf-2 build, vf-1 parts list and rear carrier?

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish this were easier to answer, you can find great deals on used parts or buy all new factory fresh parts and the cost varies wildly. You can ask the guys that have built them in the build group since you are a plan holder to get some real world figures. And thank you for joining in on the fun, exciting isn’t it?

  • @amateurbuilds682

    Well done. How much would building this cost but with a solid back axel like the budget kart?

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Metal costs and components you choose to use vary the overall cost wildly. I really wish I could answer this better. I can tell you this is the least expensive way to get your own high end build.

  • @antoniobarahona7908

    When will the full list components be available? Thanks for all your Time. Can’t wait to start one.

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll probably just merge the components list into one. I’m using a lot of the same parts for both VF’s. I’ll update when I finish it to make sure it is accurate. You could probably just get the VF-1 component list to get started and get the update when it comes out for anything that might be different. I cover all the parts I use in the videos as well.

    To get your track width did you use rzr 800 or 800s control arms

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They were on ebay as 800s. I would have preferred 800’s I think. Not sure what the difference is in width.

    • @need4speed069
      @need4speed069 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KJRaycing The 800 has a track width of 50" The 800S has a track width of 60.5", The 800S wheels front are 4\2 rear 6\2 vs 800 wheels are Front 3\4 rear 3\5 , 800 RZR guys want to upgrade to 800S arms for better stability and 60" track width , the RZR 900 spindles are the same dimensions just have a larger brake rotors and 4 piston calipers, I wish I had figured this out before purchasing the 800 spindles. If the front control arm mounts is the same between the 2 seater and single seater than builders now have several other choices for front hubs and spindles but RZR'S are 4\156.I have 800 control arms already and when I get the 800S I will post measurements on the Facebook site. Hope this helps FYI , I am going to use the RZR 900 front diff and rear transmission on my 2 seater.

    Could you explain the reason for placing the steering rack behind the axle in stead of it front of it? (As it should be). Could you also please explain why the shocks were placed without taking into account the relationship of the shock and control arm angles when fully extended and fully compressed? I'm struggling to find any reasoning and think I should now find another channel that gets into the real geometry of suspension. Good luck.

    • @KJRaycing

      You can build a roller yourself for around 2k or I’ll build you one for 20k. The whole point of this is no one wants to spend the money to have them built or else there would be a huge market for these. Get in the garage and build yourself an awesome machine 👍. I wish you the best.
