It's not the form of bread--slices or buns-- that makes it a burger, it's the meat. The word burger is short for hamburger, which is ground beef. What you had is a chicken sandwich, regardless of whether the chicken is between a bun or bread slices.

Dave Thomas is the founder of the restaurant chain and named it after his daughter... Wendy. They actually used to do commercials for the restaurant together.

A burger is made with ground (minced) meat weather it be beef chicken turkey pork or lamb and a sandwich is made with sliced meats or whole meats and it doesn’t matter about the bread or bun

awesome! we call it a burger because it is made with hamburger meat. that is why the the type of meat changes the name. for us at least. you can call it what you like, great video!
