It's only that McD's can be cheaper. But Wendy's, for an extra few bucks - very well worth it. Even their most dubious menu item - the chili - tastes far more like real food than McWhatever.

Wendy's never freezes their beef, so it's fresher and more juicy than they cook it. Wendy and her siblings own about 50 locations in the Midwest. They don't deal with the Wendy's corporation too much. Wendy herself was a spokesperson for a while after her father passed away.
McDonald's has been advertising that, since 2012, in Florida.
The reason the beef patties are square and the buns are round is so you can easily see the beef. Wendy’s first national TV ad was a grandmother loudly asking “Where is the beef?” while looking at another chain’s burger that was all bun and no beef.
Very successful ad, and you could easily see the beef with a Wendy’s burger.
No one will ever be able to drink a Frosty with a straw. Use the spoon they provide with the Frosty. There is a reason do not provide a straw when you order a Frosty.
Dave Thomas' grandmother Minnie often told him “not to cut corners.” That phrase took on a literal sense when he opened Wendy's and included corners..
all the meat is fresh never frozen why I think it is better than most places
The Wendy's they showed right in the beginning is on Broad Street in Columbus, OH ! I worked just down the block - and loved going there for lunch because it was also somewhat of a museum....but sadly they tore it down..... progress . . . sad. Dave Thomas was a great guy - very friendly...big advocate for adoption which I loved (he was adopted / I'm was also adopted)... his daughter Wendy was never really involved in the corporate end of Wendy's until Dave's passing... The reason for the square patties is because a very early slogan was "We don't cut corners" . . . I don't even think about them being square any more...lol Now I'll be looking again! By the way, Frosties are the best - and yes we Americans starting the dipping your fry into a shake !! Delicious!
You all must not have soft serve ice cream....like at Dairy Queen .. . I LOVE Frosties!! They sometimes have strawberry!! Originally you could only get chocolate, then they added vanilla - now they have the strawberry in the spring for a short time.
They have lots of Wendy's here in Canada, too. It's 100% the best in terms of fast food, I just had it a few days ago lol

Yes, Fuddrucker's has a small salad bar with condiments as well where you can build your own burger once you pick it up at the counter.
When Jaimie Oliver was here in the U.S. trying to make us eat healthier, he showed kids what chicken nuggets was actually made of thinking they'd be disgusted, but they were fine with it 😅
You can literally get a 4, 6, 10, 20, 40, and even 50 piece Nuggets so nuggets are just as much a main as they are a side.
Never frozen patties
American Wendys have excellent chicken sandwiches tbh. Maybe the UK isn’t great not sure but the thing I really like about the spicy chicken sandwich at Wendys and in general is they use a full slice of crispy lettuce and a large, thin slice of tomato. McDonalds uses nasty shredded lettuce which doesn’t belong on a burger.
Josh did say where they got the food was not near by, so they probably microwaved the food and did not remove the lettuce ,that is probably why, it wasn’t crispy enough for him.
They are one of my favorite chicken sandwiches. Also their spicy chicken sandwich is good.

I still find it ironic, Brittan conquered the world but never used any of the spices in their food. People think we rebelled over taxes? No, it was culinary differences 😂😂😂, I am obviously joking.

Did I miss the Wendy’s chili? If they give them Chili then they give them the true Wendy’s experience. People literally go to Wendy’s just for Chili and a baked potato. Yes, Wendy’s sells baked potatoes.
Gaynor has a point about the pizza. When its a triangle slice, you pick it up and its all limp and you have to coax it in your mouth, and if you bite too hard you take all the goo too soon. Cheese and all. It went too fast and then you are just left with an empty limp shell. But if its a square piece. Then its more rigid and solid. Every time it enters your mouth, you get the same tangy gooey goodness.
Wendy's was first with drive thru windows.
They advertised "square deal" hence square burgers.
In my opinion "Where's the beef" add campaigne is best one ever for fast food chain.
Dave was adopted and he supported and promoted adoption his whole life.
After he died they changed name of their burgers to "Dave's"
Actually In-N-Out was the first with drive thru. That was back in the 1940's I believe. But I love a good Dave's double. For a burger chain. Can't beat Wendy's.
@@anthonyramirez9003 Yep, it was in-N-out first. Also, square patties having the corners hanging off the bun was done to look like more meat than the regular, bun fit round patties. They've said that's why they chose the square.
Wendy's is so underrated! I'm glad that Brits are starting to realize this. I'll take Wendy's over McDonald's any day. Great burgers, baked potatoes, frosties, and more.
I agree!!! It really does seem like, beyond the other big fast food chains. Wendy's does care about quality, and it shows.

I just got back from Wendy's. Got the Baconator, a vanilla Frosty and a Spicy Chicken sandwich. Baconator was an A, Frosty an A but they chicken sandwich was a little thin and a bit dry so I give it a C.
COnsider checking out 'Korean Englishman' high school series tasting Korean food. Hysterical and very pure responses. The connection with the school and Jolly is the headmaster, Dave Smith. He and Josh were school mates. Mr. Smith is very funny as well. He features with the tastings and when Jolly took some of the boys to Korea.
A Wendy's hot and juicy burger is tops amongst the major burger chains. Their chips/fries are also topnotch. 🍔🍟
Checker's/Rally's have better fries, however, they're only on the east coast up to NJ, and not any further north than that.
That poor guy who couldn't handle the spice. I can't eat burgers anymore, but their salads are killer at Wendy's.
Give me a Baconator, fries and a Frostee to dip them in and I'm home.
The patties are square because Wendy's doesn't "cut corners" in their quality.
Actually it was originally to have the appearance of way more meat with the corners always hanging off the round buns, which worked. They did later add in the "don't cut corners" and "square deal" slogans. The corners of the patties visibly outdoing the round competition led to the legendary " Where's the Beef" campaign.

I had one earlier and it is just as good as I remembered it as when I was those boys' age. The burger always hits the spot.

Square Pizza is called Detroit style - made here in Michigan by Italians who worked in the auto industry and they used parts pans (cleaned) to make pizza in.
Square pizza was called Sicilian long before Detroit style became a thing though.

@@Andres64B Sicilian pizza was a thing in Sicily (go figure) as early as the 1840's or 1860's and then it made it's way over to North America (around 1890 or so) where the crust became a little bit thicker and was made in rectangular pans. Detroit style pizza was "invented" in 1946 at a speakeasy using pans used in Detroit auto factories.

Next to Checkers Baconzilla, and Checkers fries are the best.
Always fresh, never frozen ground beef (mince), and the only national chain that uses whole leaf lettuce instead of chopped or shredded. Left over beef at the end of the day is used to make the Chilli for the next day
i agree with daz , eat the fries/chips first, the clock is ticking on the quality of the fries/ chips the second they get out of the fryer, you wait to long to eat them they arent as good.
If lady G likes square pizza she would LOVE Detroit style pizza. I wish I could send them a Jet's Detroit style pizza.

One of those kids used an expression I've heard a few Brits say: "Oh my days". I know it essentially means 'oh my god', but does anyone know how this became a common expression? Was it just a way to say OMG without taking the lord's name in vain?
I think it’s cute how kids and young adults there today use expressions like that which you’d only hear from an elderly aunt in the US.
Used to have the Big Bacon Classic. They got rid of that for some reason.
I usually eat 1 item at a time, saving the best for last. For a fast food burger place it’s always a few fries, the burger, then the rest of the fries.

Homemade burgers are the best but as far as fast food Wendy's is my favorite hands down, it's not even close. I have an In 'N Out right across the street from me but I hate their food lol.

My favorite meal at Wendy's is a Dave's double w/cheese, fries, small chilli, baked/jacket poatato with cheese & sour cream & chives, with a large chocolate frosty & a large Dr Pepper

Totally agree about the chili Gaynor. It tastes like my mom's used to. My dad always liked it with onions and shredded cheese and I completely agree. (: Notice that these guys don't even mention it!
The other reason I prefer Wendys spicy chicken sandwiches and nuggets over McDonalds is its in the breading. At McDonalds in order for it to be spicy they just add a spicy sauce and imo its too spicy for me. I like the mayo/lettuce/tomato with the spicy breaded patty.
Dairy Queen aka DQ sells the Blizzard. If you invert it and it falls out of the cup, it's free.

As Americans, we have soooo many options. Most people I know don’t go to McDonalds for a quick burger. They go to Wendy’s or Burger King. But McDonalds has the fries!! ❤️
I always laugh when people outside the US think McDs is great. It's school cafeteria food compared to other fast food places like In-n-Out, Five Guys, and Shake Shack.

Fuddrucker's is the place where they give you the plain burger & bun and you dress it how you like from a bar of toppings and condiments. Unfortunately, they closed most of their locations because of the pandemic keeping people at home.

Its funny that the restaurant is named Wendy's after Dave's daughter. But yet nothing on the menu is called Wendy. Its just all Dave's this and that. You don't go to Wendy's and ask for a Wendy's burger. Instead you go to Wendy's and ask for a Dave's burger.
They only started that a few years ago after Dave Thomas died. I still call it a single,double, or triple.

I LOVE Wendy's, but their consistency from one store to another isn't nearly the same as McDonalds. When made properly though, you can't even compare the burgers. Wendy's is so much better, as are the nuggets. McDonalds will always have the best fries though.

Only chicken good at burger king was the chi'king which is gone. McDonald's nuggets arent bad but yeah wendys is the best. When i have their spicy chicken i get it plain but add mustard and american cheese. Sooo good. I do think best fries are mcdonalds though.
Burger King in my area of Vermont has 4 chicken sandwiches, including the chicken king.
