- Trying American Fast Food Episode 2, this time: Chick-fil-A! Probably Americas most famous fast food chain and one with a really good reputation as well. We were super curious and excited to eat at Chick-fil-A for the very first time and we gotta say... we really ***** it! :D

You can buy the sauce in grocery stores. The nuggets are different sizes because it's actually chucks of chicken not a formed and pressed patty thing.
We bought the sauce afterwards! Soooo delicious 🤤
Oh so chicken chunks come in different sizes 😂
CfA uses real chunks of chicken breast.
McD's uses scraps of rib meat, blended, formed into a paste, and extruded into nugget form.
There's really no comparison in terms of quality. CfA is made with love, while McD's are made in a factory in New Jersey or something.

Just so ya know, It's a burger if you have a ground meat patty, usually beef. These are chicken sandwiches. Chick Fil A invented the chicken sandwich in the 40s in Hapeville, Georgia. They were exclusively in shopping malls for much of their life but started building stand alone restuarants around 25 years ago. That's when their business really took off.
As an American who's lived in Germany for three years I can say that I still crave Chick-fil-A to this day. Whenever someone comes to visit from the US I ask them to bring Chick-fil-A sauce.

I just read on another video the secret to Chick-fil-A. It is:
Flour mixture: 90% flour, 10% Powdered Sugar, salt, pepper and garlic powder
Oil: Peanut Oil.
Chicken: brine chicken in pickle juice for 30 minutes
According to a former worker, that's the secret!
Fun fact: Chick Fil A sauce was invented by a cook in the kitchen of a chick fil a restaurant located in a food court inside a mall in Fredericksburg, VA in the late 90’s. I remember at 9 years old seeing the mystery sauce in a white pump bottle on a stand in the corner with no name on it. Just little sauce cups next to it. I was one of the first people ever to try this sauce.
So a cook just mixed different sauces together/made their own special sauce and then decided to give it out to customers under the Chick Fil A brand? Yeah, no way in hell would that happen nowadays without a lawsuit against the cook.
Chic fila on average is the most consistent restaurant chain in the United States. I love their Polynesian sauce.

I worked for them for 6 years in the 80's. We had only 2 kinds of sandwiches back then. The regular and a toasted chicken salad. Back then they were only in the southeast and only in malls. The nationwide explosion started in the late 90's, and now they are going international. Even after eating there 5 days a week for that long, I still love them!

I live in Maryland and I can recall eating at Chic Fil-A here in the 80s. They were in every shopping mall in Maryland. They did only have 2 kinds of sandwiches back them. The regular with just pickles and then grilled. But always those waffle fries. I used to walk down the entire length of the mall at lunchtime (because I worked in the mall) just so I could get my Chic Fil-A on. Even back then the lines were long. I remember looking over at the Mcdonald's with just a few people in line and feeling sorry for them. hahaha 😁🤣
I don't understand why they stopped offering coleslaw.
The cole slaw, potato salad and carrot raisin salad were really huge sellers back in the day, as well as the chicken salad plates and sandwiches. I worked at the number 1 store at the time. Cumberland Mall in NW Metro ATL. The last Black Friday I worked, we sold over a ton of filet’s and nuggets!

So the cheese that Isabel had is Colby jack(a marbled blend of Colby cheese and Monterey Jack cheese), on the spicy sandwich they use pepper jack(a Monterey Jack cheese mixed with peppers and herbs) for a little extra kick.

You have to get the regular chicken sandwich, as it's the signature sandwich.
The Chic Fil A secret is they fry in peanut oil, it's a great choice for crispiness and flavor.
FYI to all non-Americans eating Chick-fil-A for the first time, you don't need to add sauce to the sandwich. 2nd, just eat and enjoy the sandwich without playing with it and fingering through the ingredients first. 99.9% of American fast-food restaurants in America do not sell outlandish and non-ordinary food. You're not likely to get goat's lips or snail's ears in American cuisine. Finally, Polynesian sauce on waffle fries is worth a try, but to each is own.
The cheese on the first sandwich is called Colby Jack cheese.
We don't say burger. When it's chicken it's a sandwich. Burgers are beef patties.
I always use the fries like a tool to spread the sauce onto the sandwich lol! Fun to see y’all react. I’m American and my boyfriend is South African. I’m planning on taking him to Chick-Fil-A for the first time next month when we are in the States together. Hoping he likes it as much as y’all did!

@@isabelleandfloit's not that different, there are chicken burgers, but they're ground chicken, not breaded and fried or whole pieces of meat like chicken sandwiches are.
Yeah, McD's nuggets are made from a pink chicken meat slime and formed into nuggets. This makes the very consistent but kinda unnatural. Chick Fil-A's nuggs are just fried chunks of actual chicken meat. This makes them more irregular in shape and size but much tastier.
"...kinda unnatural..." Fried chicken is inherently unnatural; frying things in oil doesn't happen in nature. The "pink slime" is literally just ground up chicken with spices. Like, it's fine if you prefer one restaurant's nuggets over another's, but to say one is "unnatural" just because it's more finely chopped up is kind of silly.
I'm surprised you didn't get the original chicken sandwich. Also, their Honey Roasted BBQ sauce is REALLY good, too! It is similar to the Chick-fil-A sauce, but with a bit of a smokey flavor added. Also, try their sweet tea and their milkshakes. I also forgot to add that I currently work at the Chick-fil-A in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania! 😊
McDonald's nuggets are shredded leftover chicken preformed shapes and Chick Fil A are actual chicken breasts cut into nuggets, breaded and seasoned, then deep fried
The yellow and white cheese at least in Canada, not sure about he US, we call marble cheese. It’s a type of cheddar produced by blending white and orange cheddar.
In the US it’s colby and Monterrey Jack. We call it cojack.
I’ve never seen a chick-fil-a that doesn’t have a sit down inside option. But I can say that every one I have ever been to is always packed (super busy) and the drive through is always wrapped around the building. Now you know why 😊

Chick-fil-A is a unique American fast food chain. They were founded in the Atlanta, GA area in 1946 and are maybe the most successful overtly religious business organizations in the US. They were famous for many years in the '60s and '70s as being "only in the mall", but in the '80s began opening typical fast-food restaurants with drive-through windows. However, as different from almost all other US fast-food chains, they are closed on Sundays.
Their products are good. They charge what to need to make a profit and apparently pay their workers reasonably.

I'm so glad Isabelle tried the spicy crispy burger, because that and the original crispy burger are the best by far. If you're gonna have a cheat meal, never in a million years would I get the grilled burger. I could just make that myself.
Next time there you should try their lemonade. The best I've ever had. Also in the morning the Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuits are really good. Btw, McDonald's and Popeye's and everyone else who does chicken sandwiches copied Chick-Fil-A. They were the first ones to come up with that type of sandwich.

The frosted lemonade is amazing and their peach milkshake is different level. At Christmas they have a peppermint shake that is good too.
They're absolutely far as I'm concerned the best fast food chain out there not only for their great food but for their exemplary employees they actually do customer service like I had to back in the late sixties early seventies when I was in high school working part-time in a restaurant. That type of excellence you don't see anywhere else in the fast-food so for that reason alone I would go there and the food is right up there too.
I missed where this location was- I've never yet seen a Chick-fil-A that did not have interior seating.
The workers at my local Chik Fil A are usually supernice and the service is fast!!!!! Only a couple of times was i surprised it wasn't an all time great experience.
I would have put mayo on the chicken sandwiches maybe added the chick filet sauce or the sweet Sriracha sauce if I was feeling something sweet or spicy. To each his own though. I live in Atlanta so I can have chick fi let anytime and I always enjoy it.
Where I grew up the local franchise owner offered to cover part of the cost of going to a local college as a bonus for any employees attending school while they were employed there. Just a few hundred dollars but still, it was considered a really nice place to work in my town for teenagers
Some restaurants cut cost in certain areas by only having the kitchen in the building Checkers, down South does that sometimes. Most Chick-fil-A locations do have indoor seating. It was restricted during quarantine but now most allow it again.
We don’t call those burgers. We call them chicken sandwiches. We only call beef Pattie’s burgers.

Yeah there is another Chick-fil-a that is outdoor dining only. I don’t remember if it’s in Tennessee or North Carolina, but I ate there once when I was in College. It was quite the experience.
The outside-only seating looks like it's location specific, you can eat inside at most locations. Also, don't you love how putting oats on the bun tricks your mind into calling it a "healthy bun"? hahaha.

I've never had a bad experience with Chick-fil-A. Other than sometimes the line can be long where I go but it is worth it once I get the food.
I just like Chick-Fil-A’s commitment to using real ingredients. That’s what sets the taste apart from other fast food restaurants.

Chick-fil-A sauce is a combination of Honey Mustard Dressing, BBQ Sauce and Mayonnaise.
the cheeses may not be familiar to foreigners used to more traditionsl chese bot they are favorites in the USA. the yellow and white is called colby-jack and is a combination of those two mild cheses, the white one is jack chese with bits of chile and called pepoer jack. my favorite is his sandwich with some hot sauce and the waffle fries with some buffalo wing dipping sauce

My wife was triggered every time you said 'burger'... "you would think a German would know what 'burger' means!" (i.e., ground meat). She feels it must be intentional on your part :-) We are from Atlanta where Chik-Fil-A was founded (OK, it's from just south of Atlanta) and eat it fairly often. We use the sauce for nuggets and chicken strips, but not the sandwiches. My favorite is the spicy chicken deluxe (fried).
You can buy the sauce at most grocery stores in a plastic container.

Price really depends on where in the United States you eat, it is not a standard price. For example using a house, my two story 4 bedroom house in PA is about $200,000 to $240,000. In Illinois or New York the same house would cost at least twice as much. Also, love the reviews!

Don't forget your in America where it's a sandwich unless it's made out of a round patty made of some kind of ground meat (ground chicken, beef, turkey, tuna, salmon) or veggies. A sandwich can be on a hamburger bun and not be called a burger. It's all about the round or square (Wendy's style) patty of ground meat

Chick-fil-A is Awesome and I eat there often but Raising Cane’s is my favorite chicken restaurant in the USA.

Just a FYI: We don't call it a burger. It is a sandwich. To us a burger is ground meat weather it is beef or chicken.

i will tell you if your around a big city the cost is a lot higher here where i live close to the borders of kentucky and tenneessee you can but the same foods for about half the price you paid for it there where you was so when traveling stop to eat in small towns on your trip that are a good distance from large cities

agree chicken nugget mcd even on Indonesian was like shredded leftover paste that taste like chicken(as far i know their all was use same product imported from main branch factory for nugget, fried potato and etc), though if it about fried chicken i will choose mcd than kfc here, cause mcd Indonesian use local chicken and it make their fatty juicy meat was so fresh. Instead kfc that use their imported main branch factory chicken and had taste of preservation .

We just had Chic Fil A for lunch, I got the Spicy Chicken Deluxe with Colby Jack Cheese... the one he's eating is made with Pepper Jack Cheese and that's my daughter's favorite. I usually get the Spicy Deluxe but I also get the Grilled Chicken sometimes too. They're all delicious. I didn't see that you tried their Mac and Cheese. I can tell you that it is the most delicious mac and cheese I've ever eaten. I make some really delicious mac and cheese but Chic Fil-A's is better. I'm very glad that you both enjoyed your meal. It's always nice to hear positive feedback from people who come over for holiday and try new things out.
PS- The Chicken Nuggets taste more like chicken because they are 100% real chicken breast deep fried southern style. I love them. They come in different shapes and sizes due to how they are cut before cooking. They keep them smaller because they don't want one flavor overpowering another. If a piece was larger the delicious coating may get lost among the natural flavor of the chicken.

hope someone commented to try the orginal sandwich causes the deluxes are just extra. You get more taste of chicken with the first sandwich. And dipping is so much better if you enjoy the sauce. Oh well, next time unless youve already done it.

I am always confounded that Europeans call sandwiches "burgers". A burger is ground beef or mince, nothing else is a burger here in the states. Plus at Chic-Fil-A a regular chicken sandwich is what 90% of Americans order, not the other versions.
The pricing is about equal to Germany's fast food prices though. If you construct a similar order at your local McDonalds, you'll end up at around 24€ without using any bundles, coupons or special offers.

Of course I don't know if you guys used any special bundles. If that's the case then yea it could be considered a bit pricy, but if you ordered everything as single items then the price is about equal.

This part of Sunset Boulevard is located in Hollywood and that area is filled with homelessness and crime.
The original crispy chicken is the best. Just chicken and pickle. No sauce needed.

Chick fil A doesn’t put sauce on top of their sandwiches. If you don’t wanna eat a plain sandwich, you have to pour the sauce on top by yourself 🙂
