Had to mute one of the solos because it got a copyright claim. You'll had to guess it only by watching 😂 Edit: I trimmed out the copyrighted parts of the video, so now we have 8 solos
I only got half of them, I think the biggest issue for me is the mismatch in tone for a lot of the songs. Every solo normally played with a strat and pretty low gain I picked up.
@@areyouavinalaff That's why we get the ones we do, but the tone was seriously lacking here. It's a shame because the playing is on point, it just would have been worlds better with any cheap generic overdrive pedal
The effects on the guitar are also what make solos recognizable. I think that by neglecting to add any effects on the solos that are heavy on them severely takes away from the solo, and completely changes the solo.
I agree, but all these solos are played on multiple different guitars (which I don't have). Also, you need lot of equipment (pedals/amps) to get close to the original tones. I have neither, but I don't really care to be honest 🙂 this video is made just for fun
the issue for me is that I am not a dad rock head. I did get sweet child 'o mine though, without distortion or any other effects. edit nothing else matters and little wing are another two that fit right in my ball park. cant go wrong with hendrix or metallica.
I feel quite the opposite actually. Some of these songs I've (embarrassingly) never really listened to, but the ones I did I usually had to wait because the tone and everything were so far off. Let it Be is also an extra special case as the single and album had different solos, as well as the 2003 Naked reimagining.
Tough to recognize some of them from the very start without the right tone. Guns n Roses and Metallica with no distortion don't hit that immediate recognition for me :(
@@shep751 plus slash uses a les paul which has humbucker pick ups that have a more distorted voice but i was able to recognize them either way having listened to these solos like a million times
Why wasn't Let It Be in the version of the video that I watched? I thought maybe I missed it but I re-watched and still didn't see it... I saw other people comment on it so it wasn't auto correct changing a different song, as far as I can tell.....
Very enjoyable. You produce a lovely clear and precise sound. I don't know why so many commenters are whining about the "tone" making it hard to recognise solos. It's the same notes fellas. Dig the turf out of your ears! 🤣
That was a whole lot of fun. But I only guessed one of them. Most of the songs were ones that I never really listened to. But still, it was fun. I love solos.
I knew #1 right away after those three tones you gave us, I listen to zeppelin bootlegs on a daily basis for almost a decade now. recognised the other songs flawlessly with some extra seconds, however, except 'let it be' and 'little wing'
I think some of these are definitely instantly recognizable to an electric guitarist who’s learned tons of solos, but to someone who does more listening than playing, I needed about 5/10 more seconds than you gave to get them. Also agree with some other comments that making them all the same tone makes this a much harder game, although I don’t think that’s a bad thing.
Man something about your videos really help me learn these songs way more easily than other channels. I was wondering do you have a video that shows you playing the full Stairway to Heaven solo with the same format in this video (like with the tabs underneath while you're playing)? Just watching the brief snippet of you playing it here has helped me out learning the first part so much
Thank you for the nice words! Really glad my videos help :) I have an older video for the Stairway to heaven solo th-cam.com/video/0oYK1NQvlkg/w-d-xo.html
well i guess i have to brush up on my rock and roll instead of listening to the chili peppers and a few other bands over and over... i only got comfortably numb and another brick in the wall because those were the first two solos i ever learned... and californication of course. and little wing because i've been listening to it and playing it :D
I recognized Another Brick in the Wall, the others I don't think I've ever really heard, at least not more than once. And Bohemian Rhapsody not being on here was criminal
To the musicians/guitarists saying that the tone is not right and that's why they couldn't recognise them: Don't take this the wrong way but you either don't listen to rock or you should really start paying more attention. These are all insanely popular solos.

Agreed
The tone made me think a lot of them were Dire Straits.

if you know the song well enough you should get it regardless of tone.

I recognized most of them by the backing track lol
Same, I kept recognizing the solo but the backing track is what made me remember which song half of them were from
I feel quite the opposite actually. Some of these songs I've (embarrassingly) never really listened to, but the ones I did I usually had to wait because the tone and everything were so far off. Same here 😊
Doubt it. Unless you have been only listening to the backing tracks, the melody is way more recognisable and potent

Extremely clean. Wonderful playing.
Unfortunately I don’t think I knew a single one.
Absolutely wonderful, though.
I think a solo in isolation is hard to pick up, without all the other instrumentation before it as build up.
Such a cool idea! Big congrats for the format, adding the pause and the 5 more seconds!

I really like the inclusion of the circle of fifths.
3 step string bends are always a giveaway for David Gilmour. No one does that better.
Notice how in "Another Brick in the Wall" how he didn't do one of those bends though

I really like the Pink Floyd-Gilmour video's on your channel , nice playing .. keep bringing these vids man , awesome stuff.
