I was there last month. I checked out all that I could of the location too. The Carlyle sign is back now. Not sure why. I had to go back an look at my pics to make sure, but it's there. Ate lunch there. The movie, Bird Cage was partly filmed there. That's the name of the restaurant, The Bird Cage Cafe.
I’m glad I was able to go up the stairs where the chainsaw scene happened back in 2012, it gave me the chills lol. On the apartment door it was filled with writing saying R.I.P angel 😢
I just returned from a trip to Miami & I checked out a few of the Scarface locations as well. I learned a few things about the film's filming locations. The Freedom Town interstate highway scenes were filmed in LA using the I-10 bridge locations & the diner scene was filmed in Little Tokyo, also in LA. Another thing I read was that the production crew & actors did not feel welcomed while in Miami. Many of the local Cubans didn't like how Cubans were going to be depicted in the film
The house just north of Frank's home was Richard Nixon's winter home when he was president. The big concrete platform that sticks out into the bay was the helicopter pad for Marine One.
Back in 1996 when I lived in Miami Gloria Estefan owned 2 houses in Star Island and would rent the 2nd one out to movie stars who were filming movies in Miami, John Travolta and Eddie Murphy to name a few.
Great job brother that was awesome! we went to Miami Florida a couple years ago and I also got to see a couple of filming locations but you should go to California next I believe they shot Tony’s house or mansion in LA and Miami
I went to the Fontainebleau and the Sunray motel in 1989. They were exactly the same at that time. Wish I had a camera with me back then. Also, If you rewatch the chainsaw scene, the building had a Sunray Apts sign and Sunray Motel sign on the building. I looked up on Zillow, Frank's home on Biscayne Bay. Today's worth is approximately, $34.5 mil. As Tony told Mel, "Big number".
I was 21 years old when I saw the movie 🎦 came out in theater 🎦 (1983) and of course, I had a Cuban friend who didn't like the movie about the Cuban crime wave in Florida and elsewhere
When viewing this video of the Sunray motel scene, you can see a yellow 1955 Oldsmobile super 88 convertable parked on the street in front of the Avalon hotel. That's the hotel they used as a model for the Ocean View motel in the GTA Vice City game. Just a fun fact because that game had many references to the Scarface movie too.
The great Pepe Serno, who just flew in from L.A. after filming Buckaroo Banzai with Peter Weller, Jeff Goldblum and Billy Vera, just in time to get chainsawed.
I don't think that the Babylon club doesn't even exist no more. I think that building was demolished. And I think the house from Scarface was in California. It wasn't here in Florida
I’m not entirely sure about the Babylon, the exterior of Tony’s mansion is in fact in California along with Sosa’s. The interior of Tony’s mansion was on a set
There's no way any of that chainsaw scene was shot in a sound studio. Between the outside and inside everything matches up exactly, and there's no way they would shoot leaving the door open in a sound studio because they would never be able to match it. I think the only reason IMBD mentions this scene in the sound studio is they may have gone back and added some sound noises, but all the action if filmed right there on location of that motel. That's why IMBD listed at "chainsaw scene" and are being so vague about it otherwise they have said "interior of motel room from chainsaw scene" or something like that. They probably just needed to touch a few things up in the studio but 95% of it would have been shot right there in and out of the motel.

Yeah I’m not sure why the Carlyle sign was taken down. Atleast it’s back up now. Thanks for watching!
I watched Scarface for the first time just a couple of years ago, I'm 30 now, I'm a huge fan, thanks for showing us these locations!

It definitely was, Great video Man 👍

Oh yeaahhh...got this on my agenda if I'm ever down there again!
It’s worth the visit alone lol I recommend it
I was just there and they seem to have restored the Carlyle to it’s former 80s glory with the colors and sign. Looks gorgeous.
I saw a recent video and saw it was restored. It wasn’t up when I was there.
Just returned from Miami, had a great time in South beach. Visited the Cardozo, now owned by the Estefans.
Awesome! Glad you had a great time!
I took my son to that spot in August 2021 at 10 pm. The humidity made us dizzy, we sweat through all our clothes but had to see that stairway.
I love Scarface good ass movie 🎥 I was yr old when came out in 1983 classic

Some of the scenes from Scarface were also flimed in New York.

Outside of the Motel , Franks House and The exterior of the Babylon club, the rest is shot in LA and in a studio.
Part two coming this summer!
The bathroom scene was in fact Filmed there. The bubble window is seen in the shower chainsaw act.
I always wondered that. I know they used a lot of sound stages too. So I thought they jus replicated it.

Only two locations in Miami? What about where Tony use to live? What about where Gina lived? And what about where Tony use to work as a dishwasher?
All in or around Los Angeles I’m afraid
