Amoxicillin is very good for bacterial sinus infections and well tolerated by most people. I have a deviated septum which has caused me to have problems over my lifetime with allergies. I am 56 and have had and ENT look at images a few yrs ago but did not think the septum was deviated enough to have surgery. My problem now is that I used Afrin too long as steroids sprays did not work very well. The rebound was very bad and I was able to get away from the Afrin but unfortunately I am dependent on Phenylephrine spray. My primary dr. prescribed Prednisone but I am unable to tolerate it do it causing a high heart rate. I was trying to get in to another ENT but he lives in another state. Is there any advice you could give me to help with getting away from having to take the Phenylephrine spray.? Every few hours I have to take it due to bad rebound and after I have slept I wake up breathing thru my mouth and it causes me to have to hack up and throw up phlegm stuck in my throat. I have been taking Guaifenesin but if I could get away from the spray I know it will help all of this but I understand getting away from decongestant sprays can be very difficult. I really need some help.

I do not have real experience in that field. But you definitely should consult an MF surgeon.
