As soon as Trippier went off and Saka was put at LB, we had better balance. But it wasnt until Eze came on to help the left side, did we actually look fluid.
Once eze went to the left side Saka went back to the right
The 352 with saka at lwb and Toney up top with Kane was the most balanced we've looked all tournament, even if it only lasted for 5 minutes either side of the beginning of extra time 😂
@keepitsecret-dl1pr Tripper is left far too often isolated on the wing, Foden keeps disappearing into the middle, the number of times Trippier looked to make a forward pass and nobody was there was ridiculous, it was the same defensively as well, the back four are for too often disconnected from the midfield who keep pushing up and letting the opposing team in between them and the defense, Southgate is a tactical plum.
@@Basman59 I'm hoping after four games of that absolute shit he might finally realise a change of system is what's needed. He did it at the last euros and it worked so we know it's in his locker. I think all the players would immediately look more comfortable with 3 at the back. He did allude to looking at a change of system in one of his post match interviews so I'm keeping my fingers crossed but his arrogance and stubbornness so far in ignoring what's right in front of him isn't giving me much hope

It doesn't matter how bad or ineffective Foden is on the left, "brutal" Rory won't score him less than a 5. And to blame the quality of Trippier's pass for Foden stupidly straying offside is outrageous. For all of Trippier's inadequacies, he put it on a plate for Foden (and with his left foot). Southgate should be getting the 0/10.

Besides Mainoo. He was clearly the best player on the pitch until he got subbed off. Rice was very meh. Way too slow on the ball, very rarely passed forward and those rare passes almost never worked. Besides the one shot, he did fuck all. lol
Only player who deserves a 7/10 is Kobbe Mainoo, the rest was easily worse than him. Really dissapointed in seeing a knowledgable guy like James feeding into the blind Bellingham PR as he has been really underperfoming for the whole tournament.

Watch football with your eyes and stop looking at stats. Easy to have such a good pass accuracy and complete 80 passes when 95% of your passes are backwards or sideways and short.
Defensively, he was mostly solid.
Going forward, terrible. Completely slowed the game down, allowing opposition to reset and get back into position.
He is a quality player who needs to play forward passes more.

He played there 19 times this season, shaw only played 15 games total hasn't played for months, trippiers not a lb, saka is a wc rw apparently so y play him out of position? Gomez is the only logical pick, his versatility is what supposedly got him in the squad and nobody even mentions him or they just wave him off saying he's right footed as well which is completely irrelevant.

- Trippier is turning 34 in a few months, Kyle Walker is 34 already & both have looked poor this season. It’s not like we have a lack of options at RB, so why are these guys even still playing in the first place when TAA is fit. And if you’re going to take gambles, then Reece James is fit now and has actually played games at the end of the season (cough Luke Shaw).
- Foden at LW simply cannot continue. It was obvious after the Denmark game it doesn’t work and even more so after Slovenia. The fact Southgate persisted this far is crazy. Anthony Gordon has been flying at LW all season and is exactly what this team needs.
- The midfield balance is completely lacking & after saying Wharton was a profile we’ve been lacking for ages, Southgate proceeds to not even give him a minute. Wharton is the kind of player you need to control the midfield which is apparently what Southgate’s England want to do.
- The timing of subs is so so bad. Everything is way too late & he’s clearly not capable of making tough decisions (taking off Kane, Foden or Saka when it’s clear things are working).
- What even is the logic behind playing Konsa at LB ahead of Joe Gomez who’s played there considerably this season?
- There is absolutely nothing from this team in terms of style of play or tactics. It’s all relying on individual brilliance & moments, it’s embarrassing. Switzerland are well drilled and actually have a style of play and attacking. Expect them to win comfortably as it’s clear now Southgate is extremely out of his depth. We won’t get lucky again.

Trippier is awful. His only world class trait is his crossing, and thats negated whwn he has to keep cutting inside. Hes slow, weak, a poor dribbler, poor passer, bad defensively both aerially and on the floor, and he is fucking constantly out of position. If he was actually at LB and not sat 30 yards forward, we wouldnt have gone 1 down in the first place. He is far and away the worst England player on the pitch.

The manager has one basic job - to pick the best team. This was an abject failure. It's like working as a drummer, you turn up for a gig and you've forgotten to bring your drums.... Well, you fell at the first hurdle. The lack of a plan A or a plan B or C is mind-blowing.
Wrong. The attitude of “pick the best team” is the reason the Golden Generation won nothing, because it forces you to pick Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes in the midfield when they simply don’t work together. In fact the manager’s job is to actually “CREATE the best team”, which means picking players that actually complement each other. None of the Swiss players would make it into the England XI, but their manager has done a fantastic job of creating a team that all work well together in a cohesive and efficient unit. That is what England and Southgate is lacking.

Ditch Sakov.. full stop..he's a lazee git, play 3-5-2.. with #3 being TAA, Stones, Walker & #5 being - Gordon - Wharton - Bellman- Rice -Bowen (works harder for team than Sakov)
P#2 being Watkins & Palmer
TAA doesn't work as RB in the current system as the RB plays deep as part of a back 3. All 3 at fault for the goal but Walker the least culpable - Trippier high (as per GS's tactics) Guehi & Stones dragged left to compensate, Walker trying to cope with two attackers. Trippier played ok for an aging RB asked to play as a high LB. most of the LB issues are not really his fault, they're GS's. As with a lot of these players, Stones would be far more effective if the tactics were different. He excels when he can step into midfield as with City. He can't here because GS plays with a double pivot and there's no room. Mainoo was perhaps the only plus in the Slovakia game. Rice was a bit better than in the group games as Mainoo's presence allowed him to get forward more. Saka was pretty much tamed by the Slovakian LB who could always get tight as there was no fear of Walker going behind him due to GS tactics. Foden, Bellingham & Kane - three of the best performers in Europe last season - were, for 90mins, poor. Again. Largely due to GS tactics. The simplest tactic Slovakia deployed was to constrict central areas. That worked because GS's strategy is devoid of width and so easy to frustrate. He tries, and fails, to get width via the aforementioned aging RB playing LB. And that's exactly what caused the Slovakian goal.

The brave move is to drop Foden as he doesn't fit in with the system we are trying to play, and it unbalances the team, he can't press and he's too easy to just shepherd away from danger, never runs in behind.. he works in a free role in Pep's mighty team but he doesn't get involved in the play until camped in the opposition box. He's been useless on the left where England have been amateurish. We are looking to play through Foden, it's not working, it doesn't work.
Also, 3 at the back would sort out the building up from the back, which has been abysmal. If we are going to sit off the opposition, then we can make it a back 5.
It can't get any worse than it has been with this ugly 433 we are enslaved to. 2 up front might work as Toney offers something different and will occupy the centre of the pitch and link play better

Ball watching for the goal, runs back & fouls the attacker who luckily for him scores instead of going down because it would have been a second yellow and a penalty. Then your video would be entirely different.
You can't really hold getting booked against Guehi, that was an awful ball from Trippier. That being said, I think a 0 for Trippier is a little overly harsh, even though Phil Neville did a better job at LB back in the day. 😂
Trips had a bad game, he'd arguably the 3rd best English full back at NUFC, but all that being said that was harsh. He's basically playing the left wing on his own, on his wrong foot, stopped a certain goal and had foden of held his run would have assisted a goal. Foden hasn't had a good game in his past 6 at least since the FA cup final, Palmer, Eze and Toney did more than he did in the full game.
I was at the WC game in Brazil. What a toxic atmosphere! I remember seeing a foam england flag coffin. It really felt like the death of English football. Southgate has rode his luck... players can't be bothered

Intense club rivalries are going down to the team level. It seriously diminishes chemistry between players. English football culture is not conducive to team performance at the national level. I can't think of any other reason why England players can't push the ball forwards.
I’ve started to realise that Rice is the problem, he’s really not good enough on the ball at this level just takes too many touches and can’t pass through the lines always side ways or backwards even Arteta realised it last season but couldn’t drop him because he cost £105m. I’d rather see a proper cdm play like Wharton next to someone who can help progress the ball but Southgate won’t do that.
Konsa is a lot better than people give him credit for. He’s a clean tackler and good defender. I think he will do a good job. He’s a favourite under emery and come a long way. He’s coming into his prime now. Deserves to be in this competition. I’m not worried about the defence suffering with him there
What are these clowns talking about? Guehi was absolutely at fault for the goal. He was goalside of the attacker and let him run past. We were very lucky as well because he then made a clumsy challenge and if the goal scorer had gone down from his trip instead of going on to score it would have been a penalty and a red card. 8 out of 10 😂😂
