    For anyone who doesn't have this yet, when you're building the models read the German instruction side first
    Edit: For idiots like me, the Germans have the smooth helmets. I wish someone told me that beforehand XD

    Just picked up this set, the Fury set, and the Open fire Starter set, so i'm going to be building models for a very long time.

      @@randallcase1009 yeah, but like
      John said, the old Open Fire Set had pretty bad models made of casted plastic, not like metal and resin or the new plastic versions

      but now im going to have an extra 18 Shermans (6 Sherman 75s, 4 Sherman 76s, 6 Shermand V's, and 2 Fireflies), 4 StuGs, 3 Panzer 4s, a Tiger, 4 PaK 40s, 4 Panzer Grenadier Platoons 9 (+2 Command Platoons), and 2 Parachute Rifle Platoons, which I cannot complain about

      @@tigerterrorist79 I know. I have about a company + of the things and they are pretty sad compared to the stuff out now. The current "Hit The Beach" set has the same models that are in the current M4A1 set from the Mid War range which are excellent little models. I have one HTB set and plan to scarf up another here soon so I can have a solid Sherman company.

    And as to the question of "if two new players split the box, who gets the rulebook?" Folks, ask _anyone_ who already plays the game. Even if they've only been playing for a short time, they likely have several extra copies and they'll gladly give one away (you can pay it forward down the line)

    • @gadget19k76
      @gadget19k76 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I keep extra copies in my game bag so that if someone comes by and shows serious interest in maybe getting into the game I offer one of my rule books to them.

    The Open Fire box that I bought had the exact same hard plastic infantry and PAK 40 sprues in it. I don't know where people get the idea that they were softer plastic. That set was the first of the big push by Battlefront to start getting rid of all of the old metal and resin minis in favor of HIPS plastic kits that continues today and that change is what many complained about. These sprues do still have the British tank commanders on them, so make sure you don't use those in the American tanks.

  • @HeadHunterSix
    @HeadHunterSix 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm a dice elitist too :D All of my factions in any game are also specifically themed.

  • @randallcase1009
    @randallcase1009 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Yes, in Open Fire you had a British Armoured Company with Sherman Vs and a couple of Fireflies. The Germans had STUG IIIGs. The German infantry were also grenadiers vs this set being panzergrenadiers, so you get rifle/mg teams trying to be mg teams. The quick start section is just a reprint of the quick start section in the main rulebook.

    • @randallcase1009
      @randallcase1009 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are still doing the soft plastic from what I can see. The upcoming US Airborne troops all appear to be the soft plastic types. They should be coming out sometime this week. This release was FUBARed by customs. : / facebook.com/BreakthroughAssault/photos/pcb.2291848944267661/2291848000934422/?type=3&theater&ifg=1

  • @markskelton73

    I understand some people, even lots of people like to build models but so many people must be put off by having to build the armies before playing. Is it a cost thing? Or an assumption that most players like to build and paint before playing?

    • @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall
      @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think there are so many different types of players out there. Some only paint and collect, never play, some just play, could care less about painting. and every thing in-between.

    Still a great value starter, to me for the unique German grenadiers and the pak 40's already worth it, set costs about 54 Euros, one grenadier platoon with 7 bases is already over 20 euros and this set contains two of them.

    The miniatures actually look in good proportion which is what I like. I’ve often found them to be in heroic scale and although it’s easier to pain I find it very ugly. Thanks for the great review 👍

    I'm confused about the Parachute Rifle Platoon. Except for the Bazooka and Mortar teams, all the rest are labeled as M1919 and M1 Garand rifle teams, whether they have a M1919 LMG or not. Is the platoon given a full platoon with no optional M1919 LMG heavy teams, or a short platoon with one M1919 and Garand team having a M1919 LMG figure and 2 optional M1919 LMG teams? Whats the difference between a M1919 and M1 Garand team and a M1919 LMG team (figure wise)?

    • @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall
      @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I remember right every other team has a m1919 modeled but you treat all the teams the same for sake of simplicity.

      For the Americans I might suggest another box of Shermans or maybe Stuarts. Eventually you'll want some Artillery. My all time favorite is the 81mm Armored Halftracks. Some armored recon can be helpful as well. For the Germans maybe a platoon of heavy armor( Tiger or Panther)? Also some form of Artillery or 88s.

  • @Gothmetalhead13
    @Gothmetalhead13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just going to put this here:
    The Shermans are incorrect models for the period, and a US tank company was 18 tanks, not 8. And paras are a shit choice for generic 1944 Europe.
