Review Turkish Airlines - Airbus A330 Economy Class Flight from Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul

- Turkish Airlines Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul Tripreport. Another Turkish Airlines Long-haul flight. This was our second Long-haul flight with Turkish Airlines. Our first flight was from Istanbul (the New Istanbul Airport) to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia onboard a Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 in Economy Class. On this flight we flew with Turkish Airlines from Kuala Lumpur Airport (KLIA) to the new Istanbul Airport in Turkey also onboard an Airbus A330 in Economy Class.
In our first Turkish Airlines Flight Review / Trip Report we mentioned that we were not particularly happy with the Economy Class Cabin space and seating. The Turkish Airline Economy Class Cabin felt squashed and dated onboard their Airbus A330. We had a feeling that we had flown with an older aircraft that had perhaps not yet been refurbished / upgraded. Therefore we were very excited to once again have a chance to try flying with Turkish Airlines. We were very interested to see whether the Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 Economy Class cabin would be a better one on a different aircraft. Watch this Turkish Airlines Tripreport to find out what we thought of our Turkish Airlines Economy Class Long-haul flight experience!
In this video we include Boarding of the aircraft (walking through the entire cabin), views of the Turkish Airlines Economy Class Cabin, Pushback of the aircraft from the Gate, Taxiing to the Runway, Takeoff, a look at the legroom of the Turkish Airlines Economy Class Seats, A look at the Tray Table, Headphones, USB Port, Code Hanger, the Inflight Entertainment System (IFE), the Inflight Entertainment System Controller, Seat Pocket Accessories such as the Inflight Safety Card, Inflight Magazine, Inflight Duty Free Shopping Magazine and the Air Sickness Bag. We also take you on a tour of the Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 Economy Class Lavatory and have a quick look at the Rear Galley where all the Inflight Meals are heated and prepared. The video also shows the Inflight Meals served by Turkish Airlines on this flight. We were offered a Dinner Inflight Meal and a Breakfast Inflight Meal. The video includes our descent and approach towards the New Istanbul Airport, Landing and Taxiing to our Gate. The video ends after we have Disembarked the aircraft and arrive in the Istanbul Airport Terminal. Hi there Muhammed, greetings back to you from Denmark! Thanks for watching our video and for taking the time to let us know that you enjoyed it! As we mentioned we very much enjoyed the Inflight Meals and onboard hospitality provided by the excellent Turkish Airlines Cabin Crews, but the older cabins and limited legroom (Maxi is over 6 feet tall) really spoilt the experience on a 10 hour + Long-haul flight. It would be nice if the Economy Class Cabins were refurbished or if they replaced the aircraft to ones with newer Economy Class Cabins with more Legroom. After our experience we would be reluctant to fly Long-haul Economy Class with Turkish Airlines again. That said, we did have an absolutely fantastic Short-haul Turkish Airlines Business Class flight from Copenhagen to Istanbul, and would love to try the Turkish Airlines Business Class product on a Long-haul route - we are sure that we would enjoy that!! Waited for 12+ hours since I received the notification to enjoy the video with my evening Tea. A lovely trip report - good looking meals and generous portions as well. The Inflight meals on all our Turkish Airlines flights were good and so were the portions and the cabin crew were also fantastic (on all flights). Yes, the ready to use headphones are also preferred by us as opposed to those where you have to put those spongy ear things on oneself! Meals were good, flight crew fantastic and the amenities package was a very nice touch! We (personally) did not like the cramped Economy Class Cabin. Thanks for watching and for sharing your opinion :-D
I always really hated it to fly at night. You sit in a tight seat the whole night instead of lying in your comfy bed. Although the flights are much smoother always during night time due to less termic. Since i hated it i fly at day time. Last time in January 20 from Perth via Doha to Berlin. I spend two nights on my way back in Doha in a fantastic nice hotel with a service like in on of Sindbads adventures. Radisson blue it was. I never flew with Turkish but i heard a lot of good things about them.
PS Your wife is the best travel companion you can get. She always smiles and she's positive. She never complains. Keep her. 😉

Brilliant honest review of a decent flight that could have been better in terms of the leg room (crucial for me) the dated fit and the time to clear the meals away.
The breakfast looked superb, I would be pleased with that.

Good morning Derek, so nice hearing from you! How do you feel about not being able to fly to Asia? We can assure you that we are jumping to the walls here and are really missing our trips!! Glad to hear that you enjoyed the video! Honesty is the best policy when it comes to reviews and personal opinions. We had really looked forward to flying with this airline as so many other TH-camrs have raved about how good Turkish Airlines was, as far as we can remember even using titles like "The Best Airline". We loved the Turkish Airlines Business Class experience on our Short-haul route and would love to try that on a Long-haul route also. Economy Class food and onboard service by the crew was excellent too, but unfortunately for us the Economy Class Cabin and Legroom overrules in terms of whether we will fly with or try to avoid a particular airline in the future! @@TravellerYT stir crazy is how I would describe it. I flew back from Thailand landing in Edinburgh via Doha on 03/03/2020 and I was meant to fly again on the 16th of September, that trip had to be cancelled.
I know that there are ways to get to Thailand but a 14-day de-icer listen in a nominated hotel is required.
We will get there it will be safe to fly again
You just made it back in time!! We have cancelled a trip to Malaysia and Thailand this year already. We are just waiting to cancel our next one for December which was supposed to be on a new airline to a new continent :-( We will not travel to any country that our government advises us against (regarding coronavirus) because our travel insurance will not cover medical fees in the event that something happened while abroad ;-)

Never flown with this airline. Interesting video as usual. I liked the detail of the food even though I’m not a fan of airline food. So missing overseas travel. In Leeds where I live (in the UK), we are about to go into tier 3 lockdown which is pretty gloomy.
Good morning Jonathan! This was our first trip with this airline. We flew two Turkish Airlines Economy Class Long-hauls between Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur, one Economy Class Short-haul between Istanbul & Copenhagen and one Business Class Short-haul between Copenhagen and Istanbul! The Short-haul Business Class flight was excellent and we loved every minute of the flight, we would love to try flying Turkish Airlines Business Class on one of their Long-haul routes in the future! As for Economy Class, the Inflight Meals and Cabin Crews were fantastic (cabin crews on all flights were so good!) but the dated (we think) cabins and limited legroom in Economy Class were not appealing. As a result we will avoid flying Economy Class with Turkish Airlines in the future. We have been following the Corona Situation in UK on Sky News, awful to see that Lockdowns are returning for you and also for so many other cities around Europe. Our government has now marked every country in the world as a "Not Recommended to Travel to" advisory. We also now have to use masks indoors at all public places! Hope a solution comes in 2021! Thought it was a very nice airline as in food etc . The legroom would definitely stop me booking these at present . Food looked amazing and the little amenity kits were exceptional 👍 great review. Funny as I don’t watch movies flying either absolutely not interested as so excited to be in the air . I imagine I’m just a geek lol but movies don’t interest me
The food and the crew were very good on all our Turkish Airlines flights, the only fault we could give them was the dated Economy Class cabin and limited legroom! The cabin and legroom are the most important factors for us on a 10+ hour journey so despite the good food and onboard service we will try to avoid flying Long-haul Economy with this airline! That said, we had an excellent Short-haul Business Class experience with Turkish Airlines and would love to try flying Business Class with them on a Long-haul route! Amenity Kits are always a good touch and somehow always make us Economy Class passengers feel a little special, HeHe! I (Maxi) want to watch movies as I love them, but nowadays (even on the ground) I battle to watch a full movie without falling asleep! I am an Avgeek and also getting older, HeHe! The Amenity Kit is always a welcome gesture and always makes arriving at your seat in Economy Class a little bit special ;-) As we mention in the video the food and crew of Turkish Airlines are fantastic, we were just not happy with the limited legroom and dated cabin. We have heard others tell that it was an old cabin on our aircraft, so hopefully the Economy Class cabin is better when refurbished or on a different aircraft type. We will not be in a hurry to fly Long-haul Economy Class with Turkish again because of the "squashed and dated" cabin (our opinion), but would not hesitate to try their Business Class on a Long-haul if the price was right - we had a fantastic Turkish Airlines Business Class experience between Copenhagen and Istanbul! Hi there my fave frequent flyers ! You probably thought I had abandoned you, never ! , just catching up on your recent videos.First impression was that you both looked tired , not having that usual Zip !, but soon found out that you had both been ill, shame , and I truly hope you are on the mend now.The amenities cases look really neat , do you save them as souveneirs of your flights?
Such a shame about the legroom , would be really bad if the passengers in front were to recline their seats, yes I would imagine Maxi that getting out to stretch your legs or to go to the loo would be a pain.
I thought the menu for dinner looked quite good , and when it appeared , it really looked good , especially your chicken Maxi , and I did def fancy your beer and almond cake ! Did you wash behind your ears Maro ? cheeky Max !

Good morning Dave, so nice hearing from you again!! We have been wondering where you have been, we hope all is well on your end!!! We were both still recovering from over 14 days illness ( we were sick throughout our stay in Malaysia) and that can be seen on the video. We are fully recovered, hopefully we will never experience a trip like that again! The amenities bags are always a nice touch in Economy Class. We keep these bags to store our external Hard Drives as they give a good protection from dust etc. Legroom was not good on the Long-haul flight to or from Kuala Lumpur and for that reason Turkish Airlines will never be our first choice on a Long-haul journey. That said our experience with all the Turkish Airlines crew members was very good, very professional but at the same time warm and friendly! The same goes for the Inflight Meals, all good cannot fault them there, just a pity about the old Economy Class cabins and limited legroom we experienced. On a scale of 1-10, we give them a 6, had there been more legroom they would have scored at least an 8 (legroom is the most important for us (Maxi) on a long-hail flight. Have a good day Dave! Really love the meals on Turkish airlines. Hopefully they’ll start replacing the older a330s with their brand new a350s and 787s. It’s pretty unfortunate that you got the older version of their a330 economy class since they’re now upgrading some of their a330 interiors.

The food was good and the crew were fantastic, unfortunately Economy Class Cabins and the Legroom available are the most important factors when we choose an airline. Maybe we will give Turkish Airlines Economy a chance again in the future if they replace these aircraft or refurbish all cabins. Not quite a weekend without watching you guys, brill trip report once again 🤩. Shame on the legroom for you, looked very uncomfortable when the person ahead reclined. The meals looked nice though, the cod, mash and butter sauce (?), looks like a winner, poor you maxi! Lol. Was there many big/feature movie titles on the IFE? I only saw Godzilla. We flew to the states about 2 weeks after you guys flew, got home just in time as lockdown happened 3 weeks later, Marc and I were really ill with Covid, hope you guys were ok 😪. I hope we can go back to the good old days, bet you do too. Keep up the hard work, happy Halloween!! 🎃 xxx
Happy Halloween all of you, we hope you had a fun evening!! Glad you enjoyed the report. Turkish Airlines was a flight we really looked forward to on account of the raving about this airline by other travelers on TH-cam. The airline was good both food wise and cabin crew wise but unfortunately (in our opinion) failed on the Economy Class Cabin and Legroom side - the most important things on a Long-haul flight! The cod had a "Parsley Butter" to accompany it! The Pasta was good (for a pasta) but as mentioned in the video I (Maxi) would also have preferred getting the fish - always enjoy that! The IFE had a very good selection of movies all the latest ones too (that have been released on video) so there were plenty of choices! Nice that you got to the US before the Lockdowns but sorry to hear that you had Covid, it can be quite a hard illness, hopefully you are both fully recovered!! We hope that Long-haul travel can slowly begin to resume in 2021 and that something like the "Good Old Days" we used to know will make a comeback in late 2021 or 2022! Let´s see! Thanks guys, another interesting report. Shame they shove so many seats in and make it so uncomfortable, to the degree that you wouldn’t fly with them again. Like Maro, I’m vertically challenged so legroom is never an issue😏. But hubby is 6’2 so flights are never a comfortable experience for him unless we pay for an exit seat. Stay safe. ❤️🇬🇧
You are welcome Lynn! We were very excited to fly Economy Class with Turkish Airlines as there was so much hype about this airline from other travelers on TH-cam!! As we mention in the video we really enjoyed the food and the Turkish Airline crew members are fantastic (warm and welcoming), unfortunately (in our opinion) this airline fails in the most important area and that is the Economy Class Cabin -its comfort and Legroom! Maxi is also over 6 feet tall and found the legroom to be very limited especially when the seat in front was fully reclined! The exit seat is always a good option for us tall people but unfortunately it often does not have a window to film out of which is a big part of our Trip Report videos, therefore we cannot book them! Singapore is served by the Boeing 777-300 and the new additional flights are on the787-9. This is for the 3 extra flights leaving IST at 6 pm and a day deoarture back to IST. Hope it atarts soon.

Another good video. I also have a Ozmo Pocket but have yet to try it out on holiday...they keep getting cancelled :-( however I think that i will need to invest in a microphone for it! Turkish looked an interesting airline, they can be quite reasonable. Like Maro I have little legs so am not too worried about leg room.Food looks good! Maybe one for the future!

Wow nice ear phones. Great legroom. Smoked salmon in economy? Have not seen this since 30 years ago. You were sick? That is why I was scared to go to Asia and kept away from the Jungle in Thailand. Only went to Phuket. My Doctor gave me antibiotics (Cypro_ if I got a temperature and Pepto Bysmal if we had no temperature. And we always buy travel health insurance just in case. A shame you got sick. The salad looks fantastic. On US / European airlines you get lettuce with a tiny piece of tomato if lucky. Sorry but you are a bit of a fusspot!!! LOL. And you also have the salmon.

Smoked Salmon or a small shrimp cocktail starter is something we have had in Economy Class on Long-haul flights before, it is not that uncommon. We were ill from the start of this journey to the end, we have our suspicions of what illness it was! Travel insurance is SOOO IMPORTANT and we never travel without it!! Maxi is not a big fruit or salad fan, so what looks delicious for some is not always appealing to him ;-) Thanks again for watching and for sharing your opinion! :-D

Last time I saw a meal like that it was advertised as the daily BLUE PLATE SPECIAL and cost a quarter. Next time spend the extra 600USD and get a semi-restricted business class fare and you will not have to eat hog slop.

Hi that backpack you were carrying is that your cabin bag or just the personal bag? I am flying on the 22nd and we were told that 30kg baggage plus the 8kg cabin will all be checked in. Only 4kg personal bag is allowed inside the cabin.
The backpack was our cabin luggage (up to 8kg). We have heard other airlines lowering the amount of cabin baggage allowed, probably on account of the coronavirus.
@@TravellerYT I see. Our 8 kg cabin bag will be checked in as well according to Turkish Airlines new policy due to corona. Only a 4kg personal bag is allowed inside the plane. Thank you so much for the response.

What is your seat number?
I didn´t enjoy my flight with Turkish Airlines at all, flew Istanbul - Mauritius.. really tiny space.. there were some metalbars at the back of the seat in front of me..since i am tall my knees kept pressing towards them..my legs hurt really bad after the long flight..also the seats are really short so no support of the legs
Good to hear that we were not the only ones who have not been impressed with the legroom on this airline. We enjoyed the food and the cabin crew were fantastic on all our flights but that does not make the cramped Economy Class Cabin better. For that reason we will not fly Economy Class with this airline again if we can avoid it! That said, we had a fantastic Business Class Experience with Turkish Airlines from Copenhagen to Istanbul and can highly recommend that to fellow travelers. It is a good seat! Seat numbers can be different depending on how an airline has decided to configure the cabin. Go to the website SeatGuru to find seat numbers for the airline you are flying with. Hope that information helps :-D
