    Also power of tensor won't show in benchmarks. It uses 2 X1 cores. 888 uses one X1 core. The extra X1 is dedicated to separate task. By splitting task on different parts of chip it allows for them to do things on device with no internet connection. Unlike other devices. The GPU is faster then the GPU in the s21 ultra as well. The multicore on for CPU lower cause Google use to less powerful low performance cores for battery life and to handle simple task. Performance is great now and will be better after optimization to Android 12 and tensor.

I use videos like these to see how apps open on various devices, did it stutter? Does it do some funky landscape opening? How's the ram management? Is it deloading certain elements?
      People mentioning that these things don't matter are usually butthurt that their device didn't 'win'.

  • @muhammedaytekin6665
    @muhammedaytekin6665 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    The results are just as expected. The faster load up times are due to the Samsungs MUCH faster storage. For some reason(obviously because of the cost) Google decided to go with slower and cheaper NAND chips on the Pixel 6 then other flagship devices.
    Once the apps are loaded, the Pixel 6 should be faster because of the faster single-core speed. (and that's exactly what can be seen here)
    Multi-Core speed on phones is almost completely irrelevant in my opinion, the phone should have one or two incredibly fast cores and some other cores for background tasks. Although multi-core performance would be lower, there are almost no apps that would benefit from multi-core performance. Thus the active app will be much much faster. That's also kind of the approach that Google has seemingly gone for.
    And also, the true competitor of the Pixel 6 will be the SD888 successor in the long run, so lets wait and see how well it holds up against those.

    • @mysticzais6511
      @mysticzais6511 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      sorry for asking, what app use single-core and what app use multi-core?

    • @muhammedaytekin6665
      @muhammedaytekin6665 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@mysticzais6511 because of the way how android works, I'd say almost every app uses more then one thread in some way or another. But that doesn't mean, that your application is limited to one core only, the system scheduler can still dynamically assign the processing to a preferred core.
      The point is, that most heavy tasks on a phone will be problems that cannot be parallelized and thus depend on single core performance, since it has to be processed sequentially. The scheduler will(or should) automatically assign the heaviest task with high priority(if the task is in the foreground) to the performance cores while assigning light tasks to efficiency cores, since they won't affect the users perceived performance anyway. With the high amount of background tasks like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, etc. The demand for multiple cores increased, since they would constantly block the main thread on the core. But things like WhatsApp etc. are all lightweight tasks that don't need much performance, thus the BIG.little architecture of today came to live.
      So generally speaking, you could in a way say, that everything that the user perceives is probably handled on the performance cores AND most likely is something that cannot be parallelized. Also parallelizing the code isn't as easy as many people think. It's not a simple matter of telling the system to just use all cores for the app. Breaking the task down to different tasks that don't depend on each other is a very hard task in itself but in most cases it's just not possible. Often you need something to be calculated first in order to calculate the next thing, which makes (usefull) multi-threading impossible.

      That's a lot of text to say the tensor isn't as power packed as the Snapdragon.
      The whole multicore / single core argument here is reading like a piece circa 2014. If you open a CPU monitor, then you'll notice that nearly all apps utilise each core to some degree or another; oftentimes splitting the load equally between each. In fact, I would say it's harder to find an app that isn't written for multicore use these days.

    A quick heads up for anyone with a S21 Ultra who has switched over your sim from your previous device. Check your sim card. If your sim doesn't say R15 on it check the one that came with your phone In the box it should say R15 on it. If so you need to activate it for SA(standalone)-5G. Can't believe this whole time I didn't know about this up until a few days ago smh. I would think to myself why isn't this 5g all that much better/faster then 4g when im not on wifi. Then learned about the new R15 sim that I had the whole Time in the box smh.
    Now my phones performance has dramatically increased. I don't even need wifi anymore its so much more faster and responsive. So yuh just a heads up to anyone out there with the same issue. Grab the sim that came in the box with your S21 Ultra, if it says R15 activate it. You'll be glad you did ✌out.
    ( PS. I have T Mobile but it should be the same for other carriers as well. My old sim said TM- followed by 4 numbers.)

      @@jeromegold3216 it still isn't as powerful. The Geekbench doesn't tell the story. I have a s21 ultra snapdragon 888 and pixel 4xl. They both run anything like day one. The on device computing without an internet connection, dedicating another part of the chip to camera. It's just more efficient and pushing AI forward.
