Thare are many programs that can do that, for instance the french Arturia makes a series of Virtual Synths, such as the Moog Modular V, the minimoog V, and many other well-known classic synths; German company Native Instruments is another example; then there's software from Propellerheads, and there are probably many more, now.

You will need to add a heatsink to that VIC-II. Normally the RF shield cover acts as a heatsink and will keep the VIC-II cool. But now that you installed the Lumafix, the RF shield cover doesn't fit anymore and you will need a different method to keep it cool. The VIC-II won't immedeately melt, but it is not a good idea to operate it without heatsink for long periods of time.

Bob Yannes did the C64 soundchip, he later had a company named Ensoniq ! His intention was that the SID-chip in C64 was to be like what the ESQ-1 became, but didnt have time to finish it up in the C64. Some fun trivia.

Yeah if Yannes' original SID plans would have become true, it would have even become a fully fledged WAVETABLE soundchip. But it was too costly and took too much time back then. Still the MOS 6581 and it's revision 8580 are both amazing soundchips and pretty much the most potent Soundchips in homecomputers and consoles, right next to the Paula soundchip for the Commodore Amiga series and of course the SPC Chip in the Super Nintendo :]
