    Gday, I’ve been wondering how this project was going, the engine shouldn’t give you any trouble for a long time now, I’m looking forward to seeing how the engine runs, thanks for the update,

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Matty, getting there. Have been delayed as parts have been difficult to find. Shouldn't be too long before I get this back together and running.

  • @m5p944
    @m5p944 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nope.
    You absolutely can mix those cylinder head stretch bolt washers.
    It won’t change valve clearance in any way.
    There’s all the same

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi mate, I mentioned you need to mark the valve buckets. I wasn't talking about the head bolts or washers as they don't matter.

    Hi i have a 451 1.0 and going to replace the crank shaft . I think there are stretch bolts on the assy so have bought them . I can not find stretch bolts for main journals is it a bad idea to use them .

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi mate, I reused all engine bolts and haven’t had an issue. Ideally they should be replaced but for me I didn't think it was worth it.

      I can not get the crankshaft main bearing bolts back order . So will have to re use them . Would you have the setting you used . Great iTunes channel good info

    I have 150k miles on my smart And when it broke down there was white smoke and it has been down since. I took out the oil drain plug and it seems the coolant got into the engine; is my engine done for it can I get it working again? I’ve lowered the brake and remove the top cover and I’ll be taking the oil pan off today to check more

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate, anything can be fixed but will depend on the problem. It might be a blown head gasket or could be cracked head or damaged piston like mine. A compression test will help identify the issue. Will be a reasonable size job either way

    Do you know the specs on those valve springs cause I can’t find anything. I have two bad springs and was hoping I can use another spring from another car by chance 🤷‍♂️

      I already went there, but nothing stats the specs on the springs. Like it’s a top secret spring or something lol well thanks for your quick response back 👍🏼 keep up the great videos. Oh do you know the torque lbs for the cam bearings or the clamps that hold down the cams? I saw someone posted but i just wanted to make sure thanks 🙏

    Hi! Help! Do you set repair sizes(+0,25 mm or 0,10 inch) for pistons, piston liners, and crankshaft liners? I don't understand much English:(. If so, where did you buy them?Thanks

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes I used 1mm oversize pistons. I used the current bore liners and just bored them to size. My crank and bearings were still in excellent condition so I didn't replace them

    • @alekseevrodion3452
      @alekseevrodion3452 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mezzmoengineering Very interesting!Sorry to bother you. And what kind of pistons are these +1 (!!! I think this is a very large tolerance)? Please give me a link to where you bought them? Thank you.

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alekseevrodion3452 Hi mate, I went 1mm oversize because parts are hard to find and I also figure that if the piston fails again then I will use a different engine. Check this link, www.ebay.com.au/itm/182732648335?hash=item2a8bb6ef8f:g:wyoAAOSwDQJZtnw0
      1mm works fine and still works perfectly without trouble. I've bored other engines more than this, some 2mm and one even 3mm oversize. The Smart 451 wall thickness is thick enough for 1mm oversize.

    OMG why just not heat the rod? U can easily demage the rod like this.

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate, it’s no problem as the rod is a clearance fit. The press fit is into the piston and not the rods…heating the piston is not a good idea

    • @miro_yo
      @miro_yo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mezzmoengineering there is two types of assembly, the normal clearance is about 0.02+ - into the piston, (if is not hot assembly), with oil that should be easy without any effort.

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@miro_yo interesting, my pistons were definitely press fit. Quite a heavy fit too, pistons were after market, engine went together well with good compression etc

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@retiredbore378 You can heat it if you want but it should be using an oil bath or induction heater. I wouldn't use a naked flame or water. I found pressing them in was fine as it was fully supported against the piston side wall so the pin was taking all the load and not the rod. There are always more than once way to do things, I just prefer this method.

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@retiredbore378 Yes, oil bath as it provides even heat distribution. At 80 C is not heated treatment. If you already know what you would do then not sure why you're asking this question. Remember there isn't just one correct way to do things.
