    they're called torque to yield bolts. they are one use only bolts because they stretch, it's the same as the head bolts on my 1990 ford ranger, torque to 55ft LBS then turn 90 degrees after 5 minutes

    Gday, that’s amazing there’s not gaskets and only relies on the sealant, I guess that’s a cheaper option and the sealant that you get now is higher quality, just thinking out loud there, the engine and gearbox looks like it’s a press fit in the cradle, what’s pain in the ass to fit that would’ve been, more patients then me mate, the new lathe is paying for its self nicely also, take care, Cheers Matty

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Matty, yep, it was a pain in the ass to fit. There must be an easier way. No gaskets isn't too bad, keeps cost down for the build. Not sure its cheaper as the surfaces all need to be machined and the sump heavier duty to avoid any flex.

    Thanks for sharing these great videos. Can you enlighten me regarding the drain plug on smart 451? Is it true that one is better off just sucking up the oil from the dipstick hole rather than risking cracking the sump pit by unscrewing the sump plug?
    Kind regards

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alex, is your plug has a shoulder on it like mine then I would just unscrew it. Cracking the sump is more likely with tapered threaded plugs that expand the further it goes in. This plug doesn't have to be super tight, perhaps use a new washer. I think you will be fine.

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Josh, boring to that size is fine. The engine will run perfect as the oxygen sensor will deal with this small change. Only thing to consider is you should really do all pistons otherwise it wont be balanced perfectly. It will still run well but if you do just one piston you might notice a slight imbalance. If you want to just get it running I think thats ok, if you want to do it properly then change all pistons to the same size. Up to 1mm oversize is still no problem.
