Carole, your video was great. The sound of the engines goes right through you. For 57 years I worked for a company that makes jet engines. I used to love to go to the air shows. Your new clothes this week are beautiful. I missed this video somehow and when I saw later videos I wondered what had happened to your elbow. Thank you so much Maureen for your kind words on my elbow. I think it is on the mend but I am told will be at least 12 weeks before I know for sure if it has worked! At least I have been able to sew during recovery. What a fabulous business to work in, my son did a year out from Uni at Airbus in Toulouse which he absolutely loved! Thanks for watching 🧵😊

Well, I don't know which rock I've been living under, because I've never heard of your Red Arrows. I love jets and planes, too. I recently started working as a civilian for the US Navy at an air base and watching the jets fly over never gets old. It's remarkable. I think that's why I always loved working in an airport - people coming and going and I was always curious where and why. I bet you're always one of those people on the plane who's a pleasure to chat with - I'd do that with you anytime! I am still so envious you worked in an airport! That linen was just a dream to work with and probably the best I have ever bought, it did help to actually see it in person. I don't know much about fitting trousers other than taking seams in or out etc so maybe because you are a far more skilled seamstress you look for a more perfect fit, .i.e. you know when things are wrong 🤣. Thanks so much for your thoughts on my Op, it is lovely to know you are thinking of me. Not sure on how much I will be able to use the arm but whatever I can get away with I will, let it me machine sewing, hand sewing or just doing a jigsaw left handed 🤣. When the Snowbirds come into town for a performance, they fly, in formation, over my apartment. I get a great view from my 3rd floor balcony. I agree. Planes are cool. By the way, invisible zippers can be inserted without a special foot. Sometimes with better results. Again, all the best! 🛫 Bernadette

I'll be here listening to whatever you have in your vlog. If you can't sew or move your arm for a bit don't forget you have lots of expertise you could pass on just by talking or showing us a technique from a previous garment. I'm always game to learn something new or just listening to whatever you're up to. I have a hard time taking time to sew in the summer. It's so short I hate to miss it. I believe most of us that watch your videos definitely enjoy the sewing you share with us, but it's your lovely personality that keeps us tuning in. I saw the Blue Angels one time, and it was unlike anything I had ever seen. I can imagine your excitement because it is definitely something to see up close.

Lovely makes! Good for you hemming Dad’s pants. It made me remember that I have some repairs my husband asked me to do, and I need to get on them. Mending isn’t the most fun, but it is satisfying. I used to use hem binding on all my hems. I loved it. I kind of got away from it for a while when sewing went by the wayside a bit in my 40's and 50's, and when I started up again I forgot how much I liked using it. I'm glad you mentioned it. I used to hand hem everything back then and it gave a nice sturdy, finished edge to sew into. I've been using my sewing machine to hem this time around, but the hand hemming gives a much nicer finish. I think I might go back to using it, now that you mention it. I do think the weight is likely why they used it in those trousers. It helped in floaty skirts and dresses the same way.
I have to say, having that binding on the hem did make the trousers hang much better than they would have done without it, not surprised you used it. I do prefer hand hemming rather than blind hemming on the machine as I think it is less noticeable but I just wanted to do the most professional job for my Father. Oh, Carole, you remind me so much of my deceased hubby. He, too, absolutely adored planes. When we went on a trip he always had to have the window seat and though he grew to be clearly an elderly age before he died, he always was like a little boy with excitement. He’d point out different plans and tell me what type they were. Such a wonderful memory. Thank you! We will patiently await your return. I, too, have to have rotator cuff surgery in August and I’m already distressed about all the things I will not be able to do and quite anxious about the procedure, as well. It is also my right and you guessed it! I’m right-handed. Please come back and visit so we will know how you’re doing even if you aren’t sewing.

I am fascinated by planes and get hypnotised by watching them fly over, my son is the same as me but he can tell straight away what they are even if they are 1000s of miles up. Every year the Blue Angels practice over San Francisco in October (they perform for what's called Fleet Week). They are different to the Red Arrows in that their planes are bigger and are famed for flying close together rather than ours that do 'displays'. Wow that fly over gave me goose bumps and I was not even there. All the very best I have had an elbow op it was painful so keep up the meds every 4 hours for the first few days and some good quality vita C and D definitely for healing. You will be sewing in no time.

Hey Carole! Beautiful blue linen shorts! Fit you perfectly. Your daughter's beach bag is so cute!!! The fabric print is adorable and perfect for a beach bag. Yeah, I want one too! 😉 Recently, I bought 3 needle point plastic canvases to use in the bottom of some of my fabric grocery bags. The original thin plastics in the bags had gotten bent up and broke, and I stumbled upon these plastic canvases for $0.49 ea. at Hobby Lobby. What a deal and perfect for this type of application! I bought the largest ones I could find there, but will be on the lookout for larger pieces in the future to keep in my stash for bag making. Carole: I do pray for your surgery going super well and healing is very fast. I will stick with you with whatever you put out for a video. Be assured of that. I do sooooooooooooo love the fabric of the top you are wearing in this video. Your recent makes are lovely and it is wonderful that it all coordinates! I had cataract surgery in May and I was very worried about it too but all went very well and I am sure all will go well for you and you can be pain free. We all deserve that for sure.

I am so glad to hear your cataract surgery went well, I hear such good things about that, my Mum had both eyes done last year and her eyesight is brilliant now! Hi Carole. Love your linen makes, both colours are fantastic. Shame you didn’t get on with the t-shirt pattern but that’s just how it goes sometimes. Wishing you all the best for your operation and that you make a speedy recovery. We will still be here whether you put content out or take a few weeks off to recover, although I do understand the boredom factor which will probably propel you to be sewing and vlog making. I used to love seeing the red arrows when I was a little girl. I can remember being at St Anne’s on Sea one year at the hotel we were stating at and they flew over. Oh the noise and the unexpected excitement. Happy days.

Wow! Fabulous video and photos at the end. Best wishes and prayers to you on your elbow surgery. 🙏 I am at the end of an 8 week stint from a broken bone in my foot and it’s been driving me bonkers! I can put no weight on my foot and it been very frustrating. The only way through it is through it…I do what I can but everything takes so much effort.

Carole, your video was great. The sound of the engines goes right through you. For 57 years I worked for a company that makes jet engines. I used to love to go to the air shows. Your new clothes this week are beautiful. I missed this video somehow and when I saw later videos I wondered what had happened to your elbow. Thank you so much Maureen for your kind words on my elbow. I think it is on the mend but I am told will be at least 12 weeks before I know for sure if it has worked! At least I have been able to sew during recovery. What a fabulous business to work in, my son did a year out from Uni at Airbus in Toulouse which he absolutely loved!

Well, I don't know which rock I've been living under, because I've never heard of your Red Arrows. I love jets and planes, too. I recently started working as a civilian for the US Navy at an air base and watching the jets fly over never gets old. It's remarkable. I am still so envious you worked in an airport! That linen was just a dream to work with and probably the best I have ever bought, it did help to actually see it in person. I don't know much about fitting trousers other than taking seams in or out etc so maybe because you are a far more skilled seamstress you look for a more perfect fit, .i.e. you know when things are wrong 🤣.

When the Snowbirds come into town for a performance, they fly, in formation, over my apartment. I get a great view from my 3rd floor balcony. I agree. Planes are cool. By the way, invisible zippers can be inserted without a special foot. Sometimes with better results. Again, all the best! 🛫 Bernadette

I used to use hem binding on all my hems. I loved it. I kind of got away from it for a while when sewing went by the wayside a bit in my 40's and 50's, and when I started up again I forgot how much I liked using it. I'm glad you mentioned it. I used to hand hem everything back then and it gave a nice sturdy, finished edge to sew into. I've been using my sewing machine to hem this time around, but the hand hemming gives a much nicer finish. I think I might go back to using it, now that you mention it. I do think the weight is likely why they used it in those trousers. It helped in floaty skirts and dresses the same way.
I have to say, having that binding on the hem did make the trousers hang much better than they would have done without it, not surprised you used it. I do prefer hand hemming rather than blind hemming on the machine as I think it is less noticeable but I just wanted to do the most professional job for my Father. Oh, Carole, you remind me so much of my deceased hubby. He, too, absolutely adored planes. When we went on a trip he always had to have the window seat and though he grew to be clearly an elderly age before he died, he always was like a little boy with excitement. He’d point out different plans and tell me what type they were. Such a wonderful memory. Thank you!

I, too, have to have rotator cuff surgery in August and I’m already distressed about all the things I will not be able to do and quite anxious about the procedure, as well. It is also my right and you guessed it! I’m right-handed. Please come back and visit so we will know how you’re doing even if you aren’t sewing.
Oh dear, I really do sound like him as I ALWAYS demand the window seat! I am fascinated by planes and get hypnotised by watching them fly over, my son is the same as me but he can tell straight away what they are even if they are 1000s of miles up. Every year the Blue Angels practice over San Francisco in October (they perform for what's called Fleet Week). I looked up the Blue Angels today on TH-cam and they are really awesome. They are different to the Red Arrows in that their planes are bigger and are famed for flying close together rather than ours that do 'displays'. Wow that fly over gave me goose bumps and I was not even there. All the very best I have had an elbow op it was painful so keep up the meds every 4 hours for the first few days and some good quality vita C and D definitely for healing. You will be sewing in no time.

Hey Carole! Beautiful blue linen shorts! Fit you perfectly. Your daughter's beach bag is so cute!!! The fabric print is adorable and perfect for a beach bag. Yeah, I want one too! 😉 Recently, I bought 3 needle point plastic canvases to use in the bottom of some of my fabric grocery bags. The original thin plastics in the bags had gotten bent up and broke, and I stumbled upon these plastic canvases for $0.49 ea. at Hobby Lobby. What a deal and perfect for this type of application! I bought the largest ones I could find there, but will be on the lookout for larger pieces in the future to keep in my stash for bag making. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your father's pants hem. Will keep that binding shaping/weight theory tucked away in my brain. Again, this is a reason why I enjoy your channel so much! Hi Dori 🥰 I remember plastic canvas! I have a tissue box holder I made with some many many moons ago. I think I may still have some so could have used that instead of cutting up a chopping board. That bit of fabric was a bargain remnant I picked up, she had better use that bag!

Carole: I do pray for your surgery going super well and healing is very fast. I will stick with you with whatever you put out for a video. Be assured of that. I do sooooooooooooo love the fabric of the top you are wearing in this video. Your recent makes are lovely and it is wonderful that it all coordinates! I had cataract surgery in May and I was very worried about it too but all went very well and I am sure all will go well for you and you can be pain free. We all deserve that for sure.

I am so glad to hear your cataract surgery went well, I hear such good things about that, my Mum had both eyes done last year and her eyesight is brilliant now! As you say, I am sure I am over worrying however there isn't a great success rate with this procedure but I am trying to remain positive.

I used to love seeing the red arrows when I was a little girl. I can remember being at St Anne’s on Sea one year at the hotel we were stating at and they flew over. Wow! Fabulous video and photos at the end. Best wishes and prayers to you on your elbow surgery. 🙏 I am at the end of an 8 week stint from a broken bone in my foot and it’s been driving me bonkers! I can put no weight on my foot and it been very frustrating. The only way through it is through it…I do what I can but everything takes so much effort.
