Maso Mode, eh? Assuming we are factoring in the potential for S endings I wonder how they'd play considering how the plot functions. Before it made sense due to the lack of urgency, but here you have Termina's rules with a three/four day time limit.
As far as I know, it's still the traces of Rher, Rher left between Fear and hunger 1 and 2, and his departure left as traces the moon god we fight here. (Yes, it is the traces, not the real Rher) After all, there is no way a human can survive an encounter with a real Old god.
@@GTtwothousand But remember, in F&H ending B, the character the player uses got to see Gro-goroth's true form (or the real shape of fear or whatever) and died of the sheer horror. It is possible seeing Rher's real body would instantly kill the character we play as via being too horrendous/incomprehensible to human sight (in fact, Rher's failed coin toss consists pretty much of that).
@@kirby771 Just thought of something, isn’t it possible that Rher is a lesser old god also? And maybe that’s why it’s not an instant kill, but seeing his true form DOES kill.

You are on a timer after leaving a few screens on maso mode. If you go left, timer begins at that shack with the asymmetrical circle. If you go right, it begins at that river. You need to get inside as fast as you can to reset the timer. I recommend gathering as many plants as Olivia before entering either of those screens.
I never had to fight Rher. I was getting the Ending C where I killed everyone with my own hands and Per'kele has different dialogue. He sees me as a worthy champion of Rher and to take up the mantle. I only had to fight Per'kele for either Ending B or C. Here he says you're not worthy and then you fight Rher.
@dumbvillage9253 Pav you can just stomp on at the tower after kaiser fights him, it counts (since going there is required anyways). August though, yeah they definitely need to add more ways to find him.

At first it appeared as though the god was gone. But if the god grew disinterested, that implies the traces either had a mind, or that, perhaps, the god's interest was piqued for a moment. Idk how the traces of these gods work, since they each seem to be mindless violent beasts essentially carrying on instincts. But did the moon god just reappear for this one instance?

Either he is lying to help with the illusion that his whole manipulation of the festival of termina is more appealing to new potential members or he simply doesn't know rher is still here. That or Rher's traces is very connected with the festival and it brings it to you maybe.
How are you using a Hexen in Maso mode? When you use them, the gull brothers come and destroy it. not to mention casually walking outside as opposed to sprinting. you were outside for at least 15 seconds, and not once did you start getting the warning ringing from being in the moonlight (starts at 5 seconds, gets louder at 10. green gets deeper at 15. 20 the haze is everywhere. 30 you're dead) I get the feeling this isn't actually Masochism mode and is just F&H mode This is further suggested because lunar meteor should be doing 40+ damage even with guard+ up (Everything does double damage in maso mode) And how your 'strategy' is "hit them in the middle until they die" while everyone knows in maso mode unless you're completely broken, you rush right arm on pere as feather rain can be dodged. But Meteor can't be dodged. Then you worry about body, or go for legs for a head quick kill. Rher you focused on the main and yet didn't get a single coinflip aside from a scripted one. Plus the eyes weren't healing him which is why they have to die first in maso mode.
The second hexen table doesn't break, the first one in the orphanage does. This is in maso mode, I don't know what to tell ya. You can whine about all the proper strategy, but tanking with blood golem worked and didn't require much more.
What even is Rher’s deal with fighting you? He(?) quit watching over humanity and Per’kele isn’t even his servant (anymore) so why does Rher even bother fighting the player?
Don't question THE MOON. It does what it pleases. But I believe it was theorized that Rher just notices you because you're on day 3. This is his festival (albeit a co-opted one). What if he isn't fighting you, but his sheer presence attacks you in the process? Old gods, man!

To begin with, it is good to specify that what you fight in this bossfight is not the real Rher, but only his residual traces. A mere human cannot even remain in the presence of a true Old God, without dying instantly....and as is hinted at the end of the bossfight, Rher's traces attack you basically for fun, as they find you curious, after the your victory over Perkele....except getting bored at the end of the bossfight and drifting away in the space, luckily deciding to leave the player alive. There is no need to think about it too much, especially considering that the traces of an Old God no longer contain the actual "consciousness" of that God (demonstrated in F&H1, where the traces of Gro Goroth speak of the real one, referring to him in third person), but only his memories (at least apparently). The real Rher probably wouldn't have attacked you in this situation......maybe.

I managed to beat The Heartless Angel on Maso. Whole fight was a lot of trial and error but I got em.

You only fight Rher if you get to the tower on day 3. On days 1 or 2 you don't fight him

You can not only save at 6 garunteed points, you can also get a number of save books too.
You'll need them. One of the hazards in Maso mode is that the moon will kill you if you're outside for too long. On top of other things.
