I enjoyed this video and the game. I have no idea if I was playing it right, but I had fun. Ordered the bulge and upgrade kit. GMT says the Bulge will have the new style rules. Looking forward to it.
This is one of my Desert Island Games. Nice to see someone trying a different mission to the first Normandy battle. Throwing your weapons teams up front is a move I've never seen. That could be costly given you don't know what enemy will show up
A little late I suppose lol But at 27:58, that unit should have automatically opened fire on the contact it generated since it entered spotted. Then all other units within LOS from the Rice Paddy card should have opened fire automatically as well and keeping the crossfire. Think of it as simulating your soldiers thinking for themselves or getting trigger happy. Also at 29:45, the embankment cover should use the smaller cover number as the green border represents the larger cover value as well as LOS limits. Or if, say, arty or mortar fire lands on the card, the natural barrier proves useless so you would also use the smaller cover number in that case as well. And don't forget the that the Automatic VoF also includes an additional -1 modifier for the combat value. But it was still a HIT anyways!! Glad more and more people are getting into Fields of Fire and for a 1st playthrough, you certainly did WAY better than me on my first try!
Looking good! Nice to see the Naktong campaign in play. Tough mission this first one, you won't get through it in 6 turns. :) Bazooka is S rated, they fire rifles too. So placing a PDF/VOF for it was OK. And don't forget the NKPA are Veterans in this mission. :)
11:33 There is 'no contact' so you should have gotten 6 commands for the CO. Per the rules, the CO must spend all of his points activating the Plt Commanders before any Plt Commanders take any actions. 15:45 That would be two commands, one to break off a Assault Team, another command to tell them to move out. As a strategy tip, the CO should always command the XO and the 1st Srgt, because without activating them, they only get 1 command. The Plt HQ's will get more than just one command even if the CO doesn't activate them. Plus, the 1st Srgt and XO can issue commands to any units on the map with the exception of the CO and the other 1st Srgt or XO. Meaning, they could double as a Plt CO in all aspects of the word. 16:46 You never gave the 1st Srgt nor the XO their one command before moving onto the general initiative phase. 17:00 I'm surprised you didn't use the 2 general initiative commands to seek cover for the men you move onto the cards. 22:03 You should also place VOF markers at this time. I believe you have Automatic weapons on the card (-1) along with crossfire as there is fire coming from two cards (also -1) for a total of (-2) modifier. 25:12 You actually are engage now, because you have fire onto one enemy card and Incoming on one of your cards of two cards have firing going on, so you only need to draw 2 card this time, not 3. 30:00 In the setup, I do believe you mentioned on first attempt that the enemies were veteran. You can see that here.... 3:20 34:10 I can't see, nor can I recall, but if the bazooka team has a S with a superscript G, that means they put out small arms fire in addition to being able to putting down bazooka fire. So, if there is a S with superscript G, then there is cross fire on that enemy card. Overall, for your first playthrough, you did very well. I've seen many other players make gross errors. All of yours were minor. Overall, you got the gist of the game play and the meat of the rules correctly executed. Well done!
Man I wish more people would upload playthroughs of this game. Excellent job thank you!
Great to see Fields of Fire getting some love.
Looking forward to the next game turn.

A great fan of FoF I will certainly watch the whole series of videos. It’s a very good idea to play Korea missions that don’t get that many love.
Well done Tony. Not a bad start and very enjoyable. Thankyou. I agree with Andrew, the Baz is a Small Arms primarily with grenade ability.

Fantastic video! So glad you chose a Korea mission but you've had a tough start. Looking forward to see what happens next!

Figured I play knowing that I would make mistakes and can implement the corrections the 2nd attempt.
Subbed. i've owned this game 3 separate times and I could still never get into it. Excited to see more videos on YT

Good start! Using weapons teams to scout is an…. Interesting… decision. We’ll see how it goes.
I believe when you break up a squad that's one command, and ordering it forward into the adjacent card is another ~15:27.
Yes I catch that later in the play through.
The mission says to clear rows 1 and 3, not 1 through 3.
Thanks, I plan on restarting once the deluxe editions are available on line.
CONTACT.... this one word will be your downfall... I am erasing those letters off of my cards... this makes the game much easier to play...
