Nice walk in Williamsburg, not too familiar with Brooklyn as I’ve only been there once but this video looks like it’s been tidied up quite a bit from what I remember……enjoyed the video!
Thanks, Richard! Very interesting video. Quite a stroll you took. And it is a fascinating contrast tween the older & newer buildings. Nice to see so many trees on some of those streets! Too bad the memorial area was fenced off. Would have been intriguing to read what was on the memorial itself. Talk about an eclectic neighborhood! Keep up the good work, Awesome Mr. A !!
Recently I did a story on the Pullis Farm and that is something that this memorial could do with. For the Pullis Farm they gave the keys to the castle to a local area resident, who in turn looked after the small cemetery, that is what this needs, a local area resident to look after it.
Pretty decent looking neighborhood - of course to me as a non-NewYorker they all tend to look somewhat alike - I wouldn't know the difference between Brooklyn or Queens if it jumped up and bit me! I love the way you argue with yourself as you're strolling along about how much more you want to do 😀Like you said, you can never have too much footage, might come in handy sometime! I think what I like best about this particular area is it looks quite clean and not a lot of graffiti everywhere, which I'm no big fan of. Nice walking with you!
Haha, yeah, it's funny, be all New Yorker's know where to go and where to avoid. This Winter I am going to venture into an area called Bed-Stuy, which is one of those areas that "can" be dangerous, though not as much as it was 30 years ago. The area itself isn't really that bad, I have been there many times, but I haven't tried it with a camera yet, lol.
September not August!😀 Why was the memorial garden shut off? It was a nice size compared with some others you’ve shown us- very peaceful in a busy area with shade from large trees. I see you are approaching 3000 subs! Good going! I haven’t looked for ages so a nice surprise! Thanks Richard!
This was my 'Lazy Bones' video ;) I was supposed to have a story ready for this week but I have been putting it off. No idea about the memorial, and it wasn't just that it was closed, but it was really overgrown and uncared for as well. I'm averaging about 50 new subscribers a month so I should hit 3K by the end of October.
I can't get over how mellow that neighborhood became.. Williamsburg was a whole different world there in the 80's.. I remember that place, you would see drug addicts passed out in the street, garbage all over the place and whatnot..
I didn't move to Queens until the mid 90s so I missed those glory days. However, I do remember being caught out in Bed-Stuy one night at like 1am in 1988, that was an awful experience, lol.
There is a video on TH-cam from 1985 where I can see myself, and in the same video there is a close up view of my late brother getting arrested 😂 There was also a wrestling video from the 90s that was shown on the TNN network that I can be seen in clearly, but I haven't been able to find the video for years.
I was born on Metropolitan, between Leonard a Lorimer. Many great years as a child there.
I used to hang out in the area about 20 years ago but haven't been there for a while.

This is a no effort video :) A video saved for a rainy day where I can't be bothered to edit and narrate a story!

@@richardarthur-nycstories Indubitably! A caretaker would be just the ticket!

Hurrah yes 3,000 subs very soon! I knew it was an old video but you thought it would be shown August but actually September! Thanks Richard!

That must have been a night from hell.. Bed-Sty was even worse than Williamsburg..
I went to P.S.132 on Metropolitan Ave
I will have to Google that to see where it is.
I'd love to see myself in the 1960, 70s or 80s but no such luck, so forget about spotting me in a 100 year old video. Keep dreaming! haha!
