Do you still have control with the 7.3 update? I originally had to go with an older BM firmware to control my P4K. I'd love to get that Gen 5 color, but don't want to upgrade if I can't control it from the LH5H.

This is awesome. I also believe there is an app for 5 dollars on the App Store that lets you completely control the whole camera through Bluetooth as well. Thanks for the video. I'm in the process of buying my BMPCC6K. This is helpful. I'll stick with the FEELWORLD.

Great video! Considering this monitor for the blackmagic 4K….One thing I missed, are you able to view/ control playback with this monitor ? I love the touch scrubbing on the back of the camera it would be great if it retains this… thanks !

Hey everyone, I’ve talked to several DPs in the Southern Michigan area and we all experienced the same issues with the portents monitors. The camera control functions via Bluetooth don’t connect very well, the interface is clunky too. My port keys BM5 2 worked 3 times and stopped connecting to the camera. Contacted support about firmware but the update didn’t help. Same thing with the other DPs I know who went for it, they all said they never used it. In the professional environment we need gear that works 99.9% of the time, and the other 0.1% should be user error or a problem that the manufacturer helps us fix. Don’t waste your time or money on this product…
How’s this version working for you Garret after a year?
Come on black magic let’s see the cinema box camera or a camera control monitor from you guys!

Hey Nate! Good to see a fellow SE Michigan filmmaker in the mix. A DP buddy of mine is still using this monitor today. I’ll ask him again, but I’m fairly confident it’s still working slick. I do no Portkeys discontinued this model shortly after this video went up in favor of a “newer” one. Completely agree on the UI. Also, BM could change the game if they came out with a true, compact, ergonomic cinema camera.

Both cameras are great. They both require a fair amount of rigging to the the most out of them. It really comes down to the kind of content you’re filming. If you’re primarily a content creator, I think the S5 is great! If you work in production primarily, I think the pocket will probably serve you better.

there is one more thing. You've plugged a monitor and the camera to the same power supply and then youve connected a monitor to camera via HDMI. So there is a risk of burning HDMI port in camera...

Bluetooth doesn't transmit video so you'd need a Hollyland Mars or similar to get video. Also, the bluetooth control only works up to about 6 feet away, at least in my test with a bmpcc 6k and an iphone 13 running Bluetooth+.

You’d have camera control, but no video signal. You have to plug this in via HDMI to see the image. But if you just need camera control, you don’t need HDMI for that.
Even with RED cams, they don’t need cables because they have direct contact points on top of the camera. BMPCC don’t have any type of contact points.
