I think Makeela is meant to be Riju's last name, using japanese naming conventions. They put the last name first when speaking or writing. The Yiga are an offshoot of the Sheikah, who take heavy inspiration for traditional Japanese mythology and aesthetics.
I just realized for the 8th heroine statue puzzle on ToTK, you need to use light and a mirror to open it's face, just like the spirit temple statue in ocarina of time.
Gotta admit TotK can get me super excited then let me down so hard. Cave in the 8th heroine’s face that has a puzzle to unlock it, wow, what’s inside!! ….Tingle hood. It’s the Tingle hood. Come on guys….
05:05 The 8th heroine looks like it always had that gate and cave but the face was blocking them. Something during the Upheaval mast hit the statue because we can found the face laying on top of the statue's hands. The green part could also be there beneath its chest and the falling face revealed it.
Yeah what’s even more disappointing is that there is so much missed opportunity. It’s pretty much the only part of the map that got next to no change at all.
14:50 The birida lookout chasm has weirdly become my favourite one in totk. And it entirely stems from the fact that the pool at the bottom is likely intended to be the flooded imprint of botw's tower. Being a perfect circle with some outcrops and placed in roughly the same location Back at launch that thing drove me to the brink of insanity while scouring the world, trying to learn why almost every hint of sheilah tech had vanished between games
They placed a pool so that players don't faceplant into the inverted pillar in case they dive without any lightroots nearby because of how high the whole pillar goes into the ceiling in the Depths. The loading zone of this chasm is REALLY far down.
8:37 I honestly wonder if you could start the Kohga fight in botw without going to Gerudo town at all, Nintendo didn’t think you could enter the hideout anyway so I wonder if they left leaving it active always even before you started the quest for vah naboris
Thanks for making these! ever since the game came out I wanted to see someone compare every location, and so far I think yours are the only videos doing it! Excited to see the rest!
Thinking back on these locations. The easiest explanation on the disappearance of the Sheikah tech is probably just that Ganondorf decayed it with his Gloom. That's the explanation for all the rusted weapons on the surface and it's not a coincidence many of the previous shrine locations are now chasms. He probably knew about how they were used to help out the Hero in the past so just got rid of them.
I just wish an NPC gave us an explanation, even a weak one. The best we got was an interview from Nintendo saying "It is believed that since the Calamity disappeared, they (Sheikah tech) also disappeared as their role had been fulfilled." Like, I would have appreciated that type of answer so much more if it had come from Purrah rather than from Fujibayashi
@@TheZeldaEnthusiast They could've had a line from Purah in the beginning about how Link and Zelda decided to investigate a strange substance that's been decaying all the Sheikah tech. Then when you go down to the chasms you'd see the remains of all the BOTW shrines and towers.
Love it whenever this series updates :) I think the Yiga hideout is the only notable part of this whole region. The Highlands themselves are unremarkable to me, but I love Karusa Valley - it's colourful sedimentary cliffs are clearly inspired by the Antelope canyon in Arizona. That alongside the "dragon trees" in Ridgeland are two parts of Hyrule that feel uniquely high-fantasy despite being lifted heavily from real world biomes.
09:11 About that. 09:52 on the opposite wall of that door, in the down-center between the frog statues, there is a breakable part that opens the path to that jail you talked about.
6:10 I know that you are referring to the world as is when you start the adventure of each game, but in that location a "Zonai Relief" falls from the sky and occupies that area. So it doesn't remain empty for ever.
Really? A sky rock eventually falls there and remains? That's kinda cool, wish I knew that while scripting this. What quest(s) do you have to complete first to make that happen?
@@TheZeldaEnthusiast Side Adventure: Messages from an Ancient Era. I think it starts from Lookout Landing's southwest corner where an ancient tablet has fallen from the Sky. It's in Zonai language and you have to take pictures of all 13 of them and show them to Wortsworth in Kakariko. The remaining 12 are from the flower islands scattered across the Sky. Pikango, the Kakariko painter, travels across the land to paint them in his canvas. The center part of some of the flower islands can collapse and fall down to surface or even to the Depths and permanently stay there. Translating all 13 gives you for reward something else than just rupees. Fun fact, the flower island above Lookout Landing is the highest object of the map. Free falling takes 1:35 to the surface and 2:05 minutes to the Depths below Hyrule Castle, making it probably the longest you can achieve in the game.
I was just replaying BotW and I noticed something interesting up on top of Gerudo Summit. The canyon that the lynel is patroling right around the abandoned heroine sword looks like a long sword slash right through the middle. There's worked stone broken down the middle in a really long rut across the top, and then another shorter one leading up to where the sword was left. Like something was wielding the sword in a fight up there.
Most definitely! The plan is to cover each region, do deeper dives on each town, do sheikah vs zonai shrine design, purrah pad vs sheikah slate, the temples of time, the castle, the dragons, etc. Suggestions/recommendations for any other comparison ideas are welcome.
Hello! We appreciate your videos and attention to detail. One of my favorite areas is Eventide Island and Hyrule's southern coast. Please take a look at that area next!
Eventide Island sounds like a good place to cover next. I think it deserves it's own separate video. The southern coast will get broken into Faron and Faron Grasslands (Lake tower). Then Lurelin Village will also eventually get its own video bc I wanna do deep dives into each town.
Not yet, but definitely on my mind to get there asap. I believe the music is more dreary in totk bc it's all frozen over, but will have to playthrough and pay attention to all that stuff as I script the videos.
"Don't forget to hit the dislike button and unsubscribe" funny how that works, when someone says to like and subscribe, it makes me not want to do that, and the opposite is true here wtf(srry for talking so much)
I didn't see a talus in that area in either game, but after looking just now, there is a lynel now in totk, just south of where Kema Kosassa was. TotK also has a triple stacked giant skull enemy fort nearby that I did know about, but that didn't make the script.
Just found yur videos and like them a lot Give me a hankering to go back to BOTWild even tho still finishing up the second game. Did you or are you going to do a side by side vid of the terribly.....terribly broken economy in ToTK and the differences of the Fairies?
@@TheZeldaEnthusiastWell, you'd have to double check I guess, but I just found I was able to sell anything for a decent price (even up to 100 R)in BOTW esp cooked food and potions. In ToTK, anything like that is sold for 2R The only thing that you can sell at a decent price are jewels (and I had to be told this)
@@TheZeldaEnthusiastWhich means a lot of Taluses (Talusi?) have to die. However, prices remain the same. minigame? 20R Clothes you can buy 100+R (And then in Hateno, buyback clothes: 3,000 R!!! Fairy upgrades 50...100.... 500!!!! R etc etc. I found it impossible esp in early game to retain any kind of decent money.
"...this region contains the two bottomless pits found in Breath of the Wild..." You're forgetting the shrines! We know the Sheika monks and the Zonai were amazing engineers just because of how many bottomless pits they built into their shrines. :)
Okay, I have something to say. They're not new life form that 1 is already there. I bet, and the one in the Euclid was definitely already leading to the depths. They just had a kill barrier because they hadn't come up with the depths yet. Or at least not fully. 15:16
Yeah, come to think of it, I left vah naboris to stomp around alone in the desert during the previous episode that focused on the desert. I should have at least mentioned it, but focused on the landscape, I guess bc it keeps on moving around and isn't technically part of the map. But now that I think of it, more hyrule comparisons can be don comparing each divine beast to each of the totk temples. So, thanks for the feedback!!!
That Otutsum shrine was genuinely the most disappointing thing, not only is it just a random Rauru’s blessing, but it was also the last shrine for me and just felt so anticlimactic
what about climate? i believe in BotW the snow is more consistent at night, and in TotK, the snow falls are more random?, should do a climate shifts video if you have not made one, temps and weather. it be interesting for the climate data from region to region note 1st video in the series that yt shows to me
Thank you so much for watching! Did I miss anything interesting?
you misspelled highlands
u said highalnds
Fixed. OMG thank you!!! I somehow never titled the video before uploading and just went with the file name, which I did indeed mispell lol
Can You Give Me A Shoutout Please
I personally think a castle/castle town video would be nice. You mentioned it in another video, but when I looked, I found nothing
I think Makeela is meant to be Riju's last name, using japanese naming conventions. They put the last name first when speaking or writing. The Yiga are an offshoot of the Sheikah, who take heavy inspiration for traditional Japanese mythology and aesthetics.
Also she stated her name in her dairy in botw
Oh, did she really? I totally missed that. Thought that was a breaking news story lol.
Love how you seamlessly switched between games while pulling back the bow looking at the sky 💜
Haha thanks! I'm learning how to take my editing skills to the next level for some upcoming videos. Glad you noticed
I just realized for the 8th heroine statue puzzle on ToTK, you need to use light and a mirror to open it's face, just like the spirit temple statue in ocarina of time.

My least favourite region in BOTW. Theres nothing there. Only a couple of shrines compared to other regions
Yeah it's so boring like it's just a tonnn of open space where you walk really slow, get heat damage, and get jumped by lizalfos all the time.
Yeah what’s even more disappointing is that there is so much missed opportunity. It’s pretty much the only part of the map that got next to no change at all.
Not to mention its such a terrible pain to traverse without snowboots and its impossible to get a mount up there
@joshuab.tweedie9688 sandboots you mean? Or the gerudo highlands?

Yeah, hence the editing room addendum I added. I just thought it was funny how dumb that originally was, so I left it in there for a laugh.
