That emerald ring in Claude's cut...
I just realized he's the one who gives YOU the ring, instead of you giving yours to your chosen. And it matches the green color scheme they share; Verdant Wind, Sothis, little things like their eye colors, Byleth's hair, etc.
I think between the four, there's a reason why Edelgard and Dimitri are pitted against each other, serving as the foil to Byleth and Claude's harmony. While Edelgard and Dimitri need Byleth, Claude's always seem functioning without them. It's quite interesting. I could write a whole essay on the subject, but it's pretty obvious.
Dimitri is the only one who needs Byleth.
Both Claude and Edelgard are in charge of a force, while Dimitri is alone and LITERALLY CRAZY from story reasons in every path.

I think its to show that although Claude isn't royalty, he clearly has all that is required to Rule, especially compared to the other 2.

After beating the black eagles route, and the golden deer route, and currently doing blue lions, I can say golden deer was my favorite, it got me emotional and just all around Teary eyed from everything. And then hearing this song as I finished it got the tears going.
This cover is fantastic and really reminds me of those feelings the golden deer route gave me. Your covers never stop amazing, but this takes the cake for me

Its confirmed, the song is sung by Edelgard herself (her point of view) which kind of makes you think that the whole story could be centered to Edelgard since the OST of the game is sung by her :3

@@frozenyukimori The Song is about Edelard but the game was actually started around Blue Lions path as its focus, at least that is what the dev said in an interview.
@@EverydayYounglife dang this reminds me of Re:Creators. Edelgard reminds me of the anti-hero/antagonist of that anime, Altair. The whole story was in the point of view of the "Heroes" or the supposed "Protagonist" of the anime. But it was revealed at the end that Altair was the actual protagonist and the people everyone thought were the Heroes were actually her side characters or antagonists of her story. Epic. Hahaha that's how I kind of view this song about Edelgard XD

hearing sapphire's cover has me convinced to get this game for my birthday
so far after starting with blue lions and considering im nearing the end of that route, i can say with certainty that it was a great buy and i am happy to have gotten it

Every time i here this song makes me so happy I did the CF route first, but it also gives me sorrow fir what i must do in the other three routes.
This song is such a specific sorrow that I will never know, and yet it's so beautifully conveyed that it still makes me feel sad all the same.
As much as this is Edelgard's song, I feel it can also be Dimitri's. After playing the Blue Lion route(Which was my first route), I can visualize it being sung by them both. This mainly comes from first verse, in which the lyrics "Yet still I hide, behind this mask, that I have become" and "My blackened heart, scorched by flames, a force I can't run from" stand out the most, and the first line of the song "Reach for my hand, I'll soar away". For Dimitri, he hides behind the mask of a person who moved on from the Tragedy of Duscur when in reality that event changed him into a boar seeking only revenge, his heart blackened and scorched by flames of that event and the ghosts he can't run from(Which to him is a force he can't run from). Yet that mask he wears is what so many have seen it has become him, which makes his change so drastic to so many. By reaching for his hand, he truly regains himself and is able to soar like he always should of been able to. I know that it is Edelgard's song as it relates to her more than anyone else and the fact that the route in which you do reach for her hand, the song doesn't play as there's no need for it. At the same time it can also relate to Dimitri.
That being said, this was a great cover. Well done!
I can see that yeah. Edelgard's foil and parallel might be Rhea but they do share a lot with Dimitri as well if no where near the same extent. And being able to take parts of the song to represent the other two lords is imo why it also doubles as the opening for all the Edge of Dawn is Edelgard's own character song. And the longing for the mostly carefree academy days is one that rings true for most of the students as well come Part Two such as Dorothea.

this was amazing I'm simply blown away I've been listening to this song a lot in the past couple weeks and that includes other peoples covers but this has made them all fade away this was so much better and that has to do not just with the translation and instrumentation but with your singing as well the fact that your a veteran singer comes across so strongly in this song since you make so many inflections as you sing certain words that not only sound better but also make the words fit better in the context of the song other people try to rush through them to make them not as noticeable but you fit them in perfectly and it makes this cover stand out that much more not just a work of art but a masterpiece thank you for the fine craftsmanship you have put into the song I'm going to listen to the heck out of it!

Or rather the opening version is a happier abridged arrangement to the full more somber version that plays at the end of 3 of the routes.
There is a full version of the opening called "Lady of Hresvelg", but it is not included in the game. I believe it is considered owned by the Japanese singer as one of their singles. So a full version of the opening does exist, it just isn't found in the game and it is only in Japanese.

I love the japanese version but what a voice of yours. I discovered the game last week and wow, what a thing, certainly one of my favorite games of all times, its story is such beautiful, THAT is a GAME.
Some (End Game) plot SPOILERS concerning my thoughts on the story:
That's funny how everyone seems to dislike Edelgard after playing the game, but for me it's literrally the opposite.
I wasn't into her at all, the only interest I had were the students of Black Eagles, she seems like a blend character and Claude was my boy. Then I did the four routes of the game and wow, I see her kind as a martyr (I don't know if its the word but you know, the kind of person who suffers hatred from anyone in doing bad things by wearing a mask in order to improve the world and litteraly erase the corruption from the land).
But like I said, "erase corruption", you think you're leaving a peaceful life but since all the better you could get is hidden from you, you don't see it, you accept your fate what so ever without thinking about how you could get a better one. You're in an illusionnary realm you can't question because on the outside you don't see the truth. If some of you know about Bleach, I'm seeing Rhea as an Aizen kind of person, calm and calculator knowing (time betrays? ^^') what she's doing so far.
In Claude's Route, Rhea survives but since the Empire and the Kingdom are gone, she knows that in several years everybody will continue to see her as a hero who saves the world from a crazy and corrupt women.
In Dimitri's route, Rhea is kind of imprisonned but still alive, and since the Kingdom is a theocracy.... well Rhea just have to wait until she's on the way again. Oh and if I'm right, Dimitri wants to kill El on a simple lie, that being that she kind of kill his father and stepmother but we don't know the real truth about that.
In Church route, obviously we won't see Rhea as the mad entity and we don't know about Nemesis real motivations in the past and why they fought each other. I know we fight him in Claude's route and he's seen as a bad guy so technically this would be proof for him to be bad and for what says El in her route, this being that the story is false and it was at first a simple quarrel but resurrected Nemesis is manipulated by TWSITD, those who hate the goddess and the cult so it could just be a manipulated Nemesis having his mind corrupted by TWSITD.
Oh and about time betrays, that's the whole plot. Rhea as a deity can live for centuries or even millenials, yes time betrays, in a human life but time also forget from a deity perspective aka millenials. The problem of the game is that we don't see how much damages emblems do in the worlds.. oh yeah I remember, nobles are over the top, experiences are made to get better emblems in the royal family, it's a race for emblems since the... beginning.
Rhead wants to keep her place in the society, her throne and her crazy mind is just about "yanderee-ing" Byleth 'cause of her mother which technically is in Byleth who will serve as a receptacle body for the goddess to take her place in this world. (But seeing how Sothis is, I think she just doesn't care at all about that).
It's also a reason why I think the Edelgard's route is a secret ending, it's because the whole game wants you to think Edelgard as a vilain completly corrupted by her own vengeance.
But that's not false either, in three routes we see her doing some bad things, but what the game told me is: "it's all a matter of point of view".
In her personal route we understand what are her desires and why she's doing all of that, it's kind of a vengeance disguised but also a way to stop Seiros's cult machinations. It's the same as the TWSITD, they hate the goddess but we don't know why (and I won't speculate about it). She wants to end this quickly in fact that's why she seems crazy, she makes quick and emotional decisions most of a time (and when Byleth "revives" 5 years later he's like an entertaining figure to her (oh a professor), she thoughts that Byleth would side with Rhea because it's what he is, technically part of Rhea's family.
I'm sure if you've done Claude and Dimitri routes before, you can't join her after, because you see her as a bad person, and I was in that case, thinking that the world is peaceful, even with the mad cult of Seiros hidding so much things so she's betraying everyone but after thoughts the game got me.. trapped in the corrupted state of Fodlan, on the surface I was just seeing a peaceful world but when you dig into you understand the problems of the emblems and the nobles (Sylvain support dialogues are pretty self explanatory, trapped in his destiny of noble, he knows he will just marry with a random other noble for... noble dignity ? family dignity ? Useless stuff you can't do nothing with, you don't choose, you suffer and shut up like everyone and you think "that's what the world is, you can't decide on everything, that's nothing important".
I would finish that by saying this: It's possible that if Edelgard never began the war, Rhea does it herself, she first created the Empire, Kingdom and Alliance in order to divide Fodlan to keep the total control, and like you know in church ending, Rhea wins and every other political system cease to exist. That way nobody can ever counter the cult again...
In my opinion I find the golden deers route to be the best. All the students have no fights or grudges against eachother and are actually a band of buds, Ie felix hatin everyone was annoying. Also the claude doesnt rely on you unlike the other 2 who need you, he works with on an equal ground. Even the ending felt more satisfying by breaking down the walls between kingdoms to work as allies rather then enemies, plus he gives you a ring rather then you giving him one
