  • A quick and easy way to install footwell LEDs in your Ba/Bf falcon. Don't do a dodgy connection for the earth like I did 😝 however this setup gives an inline fuse for the power using the fuse tap adapter.
    But hope this video gets you on track.
    Cheers

    Awesome, did this on my BA MK2 GT-P... did 2 extra T10 blue LEDs under front footwells and swapped old ones there already to blue LED, Also ran a cable through console to back of the centre console where there is a blank cover plate under the vents ,to fit a Blue T10 LED. You can just buy the clear lens part no. EA13K707A from Ford still, has a built in T10 globe holder for $13, and a cheap simple but great courtesy light for rear passengers! now 11 blue LED Courtesy globes everywhere , looks great! Thank you

      Do you have to use a switched earth location in the video or will any earth point do?

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah unfortunately have to go with a switched earth. I tried a constant earth, which meant the light stayed on all the time.

    I Love the channel and want to see how to change the leds in the Falcons buttons (i.e Fog lights) when you are looking for some more Jobs :P

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers mate. My falcon doesn't have the fog light feature being an XT, but I daresay inside the button would be a soldered led that could be soldered out in place of a whatever colour you want. Probably a little fiddly but best perhaps to test on a spare button. Is your fog light button back lit colour different to the colour of the back light of the speedo etc?

      Hi mate.
      I have a ba fairmont.
      I was confused a bit about the fog lights as well.
      There is no switch for them.
      They are turning lights, should come on when you put the indicator on, handy for seeing the gutter clearer when pulling in the driveway at night 👍

    Hi again
    Could you jus tap into the fuse wires behind ?

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately not, since the dome light fuse circuit is always live. Means the footwell lights will stay on even when the doors are closed and locked. The some light is earth switched to doors. Xr6 models and premium models should have factory wiring for footwell lights. Tucked away under dash I hear. Rooting around you may find them.

      Wow perhaps your Ute didn't get the wiring loom that had the footwell lights. I hear you need to have premium sound fitted to the car too to have the foot well light globes under dash. I'm unsure on this

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi mate, unfortunately this was years ago. However you should opt for some good amperage cable that can support what your LEDs are pulling.

    I've installed some today following this but after a while of car being locked the footwell lights come on dimly light what could cause something like this

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This reminds me of some roof dome lights on some cars. I put an LED bulb replacement in and when car is locked, and dome light goes out, there is a light glow still. I haven't investigated but perhaps some types of leds don't shut off completely Wether its a resistance thing or residual power showing more easily. But I haven't had any dim glows on my led stripes with my doors locked. Mine are a 5050smd type led strip. Do you have any other leds to wire in place of your current ones to see if there's any different result? Perhaps it's just the type of leds you used? What version leds do you have?

    • @anthonygray3994
      @anthonygray3994 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      www.ebay.com.au/itm/263526824993 these are the ones I purchased and unfortunately no i don't have any others to install

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Someone with more info than we have might be able to give you more ideas as to why this is happening, but in my experience LEDs don't draw very much current you wouldn't be facing a flat battery quickly at all

      I was doing some quick research this morning. And seems cheap Leds can be a culprit.

    • @anthonygray3994
      @anthonygray3994 3 ปีที่แล้ว
