These are great loc maintenance tips. I love that you recommend washing your locs once a week. My starter locs were too short to braid so I banded for about the first 18 months. I’m 2 years loc’d. No regrets. A little oil after I wash and spritzing my locs with water and peppermint oil daily provides enough moisture. So far no lint. I made two satin bonnets when I established my locs and I use them. I do shake out my locs at the end of the day or in the morning to keep whatever from sinking in. Have you experienced any thinning? I’m in this for the long haul.

You have a great routine! I have not experienced any thinning
I interlock my roots when I twist my hair. I always undo them though after 4, 6, 8 weeks, just to refresh, even though I recycle my parts for as long as I can. Lately, I've been seriously contemplating NOT undoing my roots and just continuing the interlock and letting my roots lock up and leaving the rest loose! Is that crazy? My biggest issue with my loose natural hair is my roots puffing up. I figure locking them could be a solution.

Not crazy at all 😅 just sounds like you are wanting to loc your hair!
Any recommendations for a good clarifying shampoo?

I really like Pattern Cleansing Shampoo. A lot of people like the Suave Clarifying Shampoo as well (I haven’t tried it). I usually wash first with a clarifying shampoo and then a hydrating one.

Thank you for sharing. I'm almost 10 months locd and I'm loving it ❤

I totally understand. My edges are full but my crown is thin. Ugh!! Is a double edge sword! 😂
It’s so annoying lol

Thank you that’s good to know because as a loose natural my hair loved Pattern products!
Use a bond repair treatment on your locs for 6weeks and it’ll be fine
Thank you! Any brand you recommend?
Have you considered steaming your locs?
I’ve done it in the shower! But I don’t own a machine. That might be a good idea!
@ Keep us posted. I've heard good things about it. I'm only 5 months in so I'm sticking to the basics right now.
I may have braided and banded my hair twice before shampooing. Some of my front locs show it 🤦🏽♀️
😂😂😂😂 we live and learn!
