      I like the look of the bigger rally tank and the wind shield looks like Batman designed it. I’d probably start wearing a cape.
      You know you’d look cool in a Arai Modular Bat duel sport helmet. Flip it up when you yell at the boy blunder so he can see you’re pissed. (Mouthing “Vacuum”)
      BUT I knew I’d mess up the fairing.
      And even If I was strictly street and rode like a goon it still wouldn’t have enough power to travel long distances with a bunch of stuff strapped to it.
      The Rally version should have been the 450 IMO.

    Great looking bike! Quick question regarding the front sprocket guard, do you think that the stock “case saver” is sufficient and an after market sprocket cover like zeta would be alright? Just trying to keep the mud out of the thing. Have you seen any aftermarket sprocket covers that have a built in case saver?

    • @184racing
      @184racing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the oem metal guard is sufficient. I do t like any of the oem plastic or any of the larger aftermarket case saver / sprocket guard. The reason is that they either have so much coverage that mud, weeds, sticks etc is going to get caught in them. The other reason is if you look at pics of bikes with case damage it’s usually from the case breaking where the bolts screw in. I feel the larger metal guards like the zeta increase leverage when the chain wraps around it and rips the hole in the case. I’m currently using a Dirtd Factory case guard. I’ve had zero issues with it, around 1k miles. I believe if the chain broke with this guard, because it’s plastic it will act like a sacrificial pace and take the brunt of force if that chain broke and most likely break and fall apart in the process all while you still have the oem metal case guard behind it. I’m sending dirtd factory my own case guard / sprocket cover for the 300 tomorrow so he can design something similar. You can look in the community section of my channel and see pics of an older version on my 450 and then a newer version. My input helped design the newer version. Feel free to message me on Reddit or insta if you want more pics of more info. I will be adding more info in the community section of the dirtd 300 case saver.

      @@184racing I'm looking at all Honda options. I'm 56, LE and about to retire which means I'm not young and don't want a 350 lb off road bike. I have a 1991 DR250 (headlight, tail light, odometer, but no speedometer or brake light, and don't laugh but the rear shock is a fully adjustable piggy back and both the forks and rear shock are better than the Honda 300L). Kick starting however is becoming a pain. I'm looking at any Honda (I have my original 1980 XR80 completely rebuilt to concourse quality in my garage) off road capable bike with electric start. I am looking for off road ability first, and just enough street legal to get me to the dirt legally. You have more recent riding experience than I do and more recent on more bikes. I like the 300 for it’s ease of maintenance and good fuel mileage. The bike can be built to whatever you want it to be. I ride 90-95% off road and how I have it setup it’s perfect. I’m 50 and got tired of checking and adjusting valves on the crf450’s. I can do everything on my crf300 that I could do on a 450x as long as it’s not over 80mph. They are great bikes.

      @@bbaz6729 Just adding my 2 cents, these 300 crf's and klx's are so much more enjoyable to ride on/offroad than any of the newer high strung enduro bikes or the older XR and DR's. Super light clutch, smooth throttle, perfect fueling, bullet proof and 60mpg. Most fun bikes I ever had, hands down. Iv had a ton of enduro bikes. A 13t front sprocket, and the oem tires air'd up/down for on/offroad will get u anywhere you want to go to get you out there having fun. U can mod from there to what suits your need. Unless you ride at race pace, you wont be disappointed in the Honda or Kawi.

      Definitely. I originally just had the 550 stage 1 ecu, with the exhaust, twin air filter, airbox mods and Cbr intake boot. It made a significant improvement over stock. I then added the Cbr cams and got the 550 stage 1.5. The cams improved the top end without any loss down low.

    • @184racing
      @184racing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Look at the community section of my page I have a 450rl also. FYI the 450 is not gods gift to dual sports. If there is certain things that bother you about the 300 such as seat, vibrations, on off throttle it’s only worse with the 450. Then add the price, not the price of the 450 but a tuned ecu and exhaust is over $2k. The fuel milage I get on the 300 is between 50 and 55 on the 450 it’s 35. The other thing is suspension the 450’s suspension is horrible on slow Rocky terrain, I’m actually faster over anything under 50 mph on my 300. The 450 is a great bike but you will end up doing all the mods that you will do to a 300. I like both bikes and think they are great. I’m taking the 450 into get the suspension done after Labor Day, I bet it will be faster then the 300 over all terrain then.

      @@184racing I have a 450L. Love the bike. But I didn’t fall for doing all the mods. Mine is fueled perfectly with a JD Tuner, and runs stronger with the stock pipe. Even my buddies that did ECU swaps are jealous how well my bike runs, and how little I spent. (New controls, steering damper, seat, windscreen, and Tuner.) The advantage they have is they are still making power up top when mine is signing off. But living in ‘eastern’ terrain I don’t want or need top end.
      I wasn’t being critical as I just asked the question. Some live to mod. Me, I just want the bare minimums. I’m one of those ‘the less bling, the better.’ But I’m an old guy. Carry on.
