I REALLY wish they'd make a hefty tome of an art book for this show - one that's filled with character designs, background paintings, animation techniques & storyboards, background paintings, and any other juicy development tidbits/interviews they'd like to throw in there - and more background paintings! Maybe if Genndy ever gets around to making his Samurai Jack movie it could happen...
I'm an old fart who has been living under a rock and am only now seeing this show on Netflix. Love the art/design of it. It's the most clever use of limited animation I've ever seen I think. Brilliant!
Genndy Tartakovsky is a marvel of a creator. Every one of his works has shined and developed into a masterpiece. No other director of television animation has inspired me as much as Gendy.
Genndy Tartakovsky, You are an Inspiration to me. Samurai Jack is one of my favorite cartoons growing up and I wanna say thanks for all you've done in the world of animation.
What really brought me here is not to go on a nostalgic trip but the pay respect to the great Chris Reccardi he was one of the storyboard artists on Samurai Jack and many many many other shows this man will definitely be missed RIP😞
I've definitely watched and appreciated each of the 52 episodes, thank you for such a unique show, so epic yet so serene, it inspires me to live a life of sorts...
aku has to be one of the best looking design for a badguy I've seen. the people who worked on this are awesome. I really hope they deliver with the new season of samurai jack.
DEAD EYE STUDIO i really hope that!! but i m concerned about the animation too!! For example,DB,DBZ were so beloved and DBS is not that much..even i dont like DBS much!! so this continuation of the show is really bugging me!! i mean, would it live to our expectations??
Abhishek Pal oh man, i couldn't even get through the entire dbs series it was so bad. apparently dbs was just a rehash of one of the dbz movies. i have a feeling that somehow the samurai jack series will come back more bad ass than ever. its gonna be sort of interesting though with the fact that its going to appear on adult swim.
This will always be considered a classic to me and will always be were I set the bar for quality in an action show. Truly one that should never be forgotten.
I remember watching this show when I was VERY little, so all my memories were very vague. All I remembered is that I thought Jack looked really pretty with his hair down XD I went on Netflix and saw Samurai Jack and I was so excited to watch, I almost forgot just how awesome this show was. When I watched Cartoon Network in my living and I suddenly heard that opening start, it was a great feeling, even if it was a re-run it was almost like seeing something new and exciting every time it aired. You just don't feel that kind of pure joy with cartoons these days. It's really sad that later generations won't be able to experience these gems.
It's shows like Samurai Jack and Sym-Bionic Titan that make me want to keep following my dreams of being an animator. Thank you sooo much Genndy for being... well, for being so dang awesome! :D
How fortunate of the people who worked on the show to come back and give the show what it once had with a bit of flare of newness and twists! Paul Rudish sounds like an awesome imaginative guy and although it is a shame hes not working on s5, his career still carries on! Best of luck to everyone and congrats to Genndy Tartakovsky who has achived what many creators would not :)
LOL hell yea. His Grievous is my definition of murderous psychopath, cutting down clones like fruit. And I LOVE the way Tartakovsky made Mace Windu look like such a badass, his death in the movie really pissed me off after seeing his skill in Clone Wars. The whole bloody series was just excellent. I honestly have to meet Tartakovsky someday, and just express my appreciation for his work. The Action, romance, and humor in all of his shows is just on point.
Thank the Lord God for creating these brilliant minds responsible for the greatest series I have grew up on as a kid! I feel so blessed to live in a world where this show was created with the epic cinematic and emotional scenes!
Watched it before my kids were born & loved it. Now my kids love watching the reruns. They keep asking what happens at the end. Would love to see the movie wrap it up, although it won't be the same w/o Mako. He was awesome!
for a while i wanted to go into film as a career but slowly changed my mind to tv animation. I can honestly say this show gave me the most inspiration to make my own show and go into tv animation
I really felt betrayed when I found out they stop making Samurai Jack. Man... this cartoon is the best cartoon ever, has everything... he sounds and act like a real person with real feelings
It was - among these who were able to understand and apreciate it. I didnt knew Genndy Tartakovsky was this young, jesus he created Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, Ed Edd Eddy and clone wars, I love them all. He is a genius and a true inspiration.
I never imagined Genndy Tartakovsky to look like this, but he is right there and he is the man! And it's great to see all those other people, like Paul Rudish amongst others, all those great, great artists who transformed cartoons to another level. This is true artwork and whoever thinks it would be worth less than the "classical" arts must truly be considered a fool.
Samurai Jack was a great show. I think the fact that the series is overflowing w/ both originality and style to the flow of an action cartoon is what makes it so amazing. I would love to see Jack finally make it home though, what an amazing show this was
this has got to be my favorite cartonn of all time... =) i never had cable but loved to watch it as a kid whenever i went to my grandparents house... and they too eventually even started to like this show i never found out why it never continued and i wish they had of kept going with this because its amazing ad is random with its mix of comedy, action, and charm overall a great show and it will always be my favorite cartoon! =)
After watching season 5, I both feel emotionally sad and glad Jack's journey has finally come to an end. However I was pleased with episode CI. The action sequences is a bit rush and the bittersweet is a bit too much. I mean Jack deserves better then being suffered from his lost of Ashi. Hopefully Genndy would come up with an alternate ending plus some extended scenes on DVD or Blu Ray. I'm grateful to have this show a part of my childhood and it's been a great ride. Thank you Phil LaMarr for being his voice, and to you Genndy Tarakovsky for building one hell of a show!!!
They're right... Samurai Jack is a one-of-a-kind cartoon, it has it all - action, emotions, great music, actors who's actually getting into their roles, suspence... more cartoons should be like this. I would love to have the artists' and actors' autographs. They have done a great job. Mako did also make alot of people happy, too bad he died... but he sure was honorable. :o) But I wish we would find out if Jack ever got home...
I wish that they were able to still create more adventures with samurai jack because this show is just so unique compared to every single show out there. The sad thing is though I personally feel that they cannot continue because of thesadly past away Mako(RIP). Because him as Aku brought something else to the table. So I hope many people do appreciate this as much as I do
THANK YOU. Clone Wars was one of the most amazing, and emotionally deep stories I had ever seen as a child. It really helped me understand Anakin's descent on a personal level, because I actually saw the shit he went through. My young cousins just think that Anakin was "some traitor jerk", such a shame they missed out. Tartakovsky gets WAAAAAY too little respect in my opinion. His show Sym-Bionic Titan was pure gold imo, and it got cancelled for stupid reasons. It's sickening.
I remember loving Aku as a villain. Like who would have thought that a demon from outer space had so much charm and humor? Had me laughing several times! :D
I have been watching and appreciating this show for a very long time :) Can't wait for the movie since I, for one, really want to know what happens to Jack
I can summerize this entire video like this: "We wanted to create the best damn cartoon the world has ever seen" Congratulations you hands down made the best cartoon ever made
@DragonHeart956 That's what I'm talking about! This is seriously a childhood favorite that I think everyone will be happy to see again. It's so great to know he's coming back to life. We deserve to see our old school hero on the big screen! Thanks for letting me know about tha! I will definitely be on the lookout for more updates!
I'm really great fan of Genndy Tartakovsky's work/art, especially Samurai Jack but I can't believe that it doesn't have any connections with Frank Miller's Ronin. It's almost the same story... Still I think never heard or read about how it has affected Samurai Jack.
this show really is a form of art that belongs in some sort of animation museum.
agreed
Absolutely
"watch and appreciate years later" a decade and a half later, he was right!
I KNOW. It would be the bestest, most awesome, epic coffee table book EVER! :D
They should now that he's finished the series
Imagine watching Samurai Jack in live action IMAX screen
I'm an old fart who has been living under a rock and am only now seeing this show on Netflix. Love the art/design of it. It's the most clever use of limited animation I've ever seen I think. Brilliant!
Best show ever
This show was a visual masterpiece.
ADULT SWIM IS BRINGING IT BACK, BAAABY!
+Liam Joseph I can't wait til it premieres!
it's back BABYYY
ye.
cool
this show is still talked about to this day because of it's originality. gendy and his team are geniuses and much kudos for Dexter as well.
Genndy Tartakovsky is a marvel of a creator. Every one of his works has shined and developed into a masterpiece. No other director of television animation has inspired me as much as Gendy.
yeah and i came here after battle through time
Samurai Jack was my favorite show when I was a kid.
Same here. He was the stuff Saturday morning cartoons were made of. And the animation was visually striking.
THIS CARTOON. Truly one of the greatest works of art in our time. Some of the scenes and ideas will just be burned into my mind forever.
This show is the meaning of art like its so beautiful especially if you're older and rewatching it
Samurai jack is in the pop culture .
Genndy Tartakovsky, You are an Inspiration to me. Samurai Jack is one of my favorite cartoons growing up and I wanna say thanks for all you've done in the world of animation.
The Best Cartoon EVER!
Genndy Tartakovsky is the best man to ever be placed on this planet!
This was, the best show ever. I remember me and my dad used to sit just us to watching this. Even if we had seen the episodes multiple times. Memories
What really brought me here is not to go on a nostalgic trip but the pay respect to the great Chris Reccardi he was one of the storyboard artists on Samurai Jack and many many many other shows this man will definitely be missed RIP😞
RIP Mako-san.
Samurai Jack is really one of a kind...no show can ever compete to a masterpiece like this
I've definitely watched and appreciated each of the 52 episodes, thank you for such a unique show, so epic yet so serene, it inspires me to live a life of sorts...
aku has to be one of the best looking design for a badguy I've seen. the people who worked on this are awesome. I really hope they deliver with the new season of samurai jack.
+DEAD EYE STUDIO sadly Mako(the voice of Aku) is no more!!
Abhishek Pal i heard about that. dude was a really great voice actor. hopefully the makers of the show could find a good replacement for him at least.
DEAD EYE STUDIO i really hope that!! but i m concerned about the animation too!! For example,DB,DBZ were so beloved and DBS is not that much..even i dont like DBS much!! so this continuation of the show is really bugging me!! i mean, would it live to our expectations??

+DEAD EYE STUDIO Mako's understudy did a very good job continuing the role of uncle Iroh in avatar: the last airbender, he's probably the best bet
That laugh... I just love it! R.I.P. Master..
Yup, no one could do it better. It travels from here to the moon and back, and I think that is as good of a description that laugh can be
This will always be considered a classic to me and will always be were I set the bar for quality in an action show. Truly one that should never be forgotten.
Samurai Jack is timeless - love it - thanks for that
I remember watching this show when I was VERY little, so all my memories were very vague. Such a great team that work so well together to create such an animated masterpiece that will be beloved by all who witnessed it in its glory
This is truly the greatest cartoon i have seen in my life so far.
It's shows like Samurai Jack and Sym-Bionic Titan that make me want to keep following my dreams of being an animator. Thank you sooo much Genndy for being... well, for being so dang awesome! :D
i love the art-style, and the tracks in this show
The Greatest Of All Time
6:13 R.I.P. Mako Iwamatsu (1933-2006) Mostly Mako Voice of Aku from Samurai Jack and Uncle Iroh in Avatar The Last Airbender Honor and Righteousness
One of the finest animated series ever!
How fortunate of the people who worked on the show to come back and give the show what it once had with a bit of flare of newness and twists! It's like when Jules says to Marvin "I don't remember askin' you a godamn thing!!" Phill Lamar is good at staying quiet for the majority of scenes.
one of my favourite childhood cartoons!!

Probably the best show on CN. Fits kids and adults as one and has so many memorable moments. Can't wait for the movie to come out!!!
I come back to this when i need motivation to write and draw.
Thank the Lord God for creating these brilliant minds responsible for the greatest series I have grew up on as a kid! I feel so blessed to live in a world where this show was created with the epic cinematic and emotional scenes!
One of my favorite cartoons.
R.I.P Mr. Mako I always thougth you were awesome as Aku among your many roles
One of my ultimate favorite shows when I was a kid. Still enjoy rewatching an episode now and then today :'D Samurai Jack ftw!
Watched it before my kids were born & loved it. Now my kids love watching the reruns. They keep asking what happens at the end. Would love to see the movie wrap it up, although it won't be the same w/o Mako. He was awesome!

If there's one show I wish to be endless, it'll surely be this one :)
one of my favorite tv series, the best animated series since "Batman: the Animated series"!

I remember loving Aku as a villain. Like who would have thought that a demon from outer space had so much charm and humor? Had me laughing several times! :D

Congratulations you hands down made the best cartoon ever made
Love this cartoon. Very atmospheric. Shame it never got a proper ending.
