Car Prices AREN'T Hopeless After All...!

- Cars Are Hopelessly Overpriced...or are they? A sudden turn of events, never have I been more happy to be so wrong. My incessant doomposting of rising car prices has finally been met with the greatest realization ever, that car prices are finally consistently going down! HALLELUJAH! Hold on, give me a second, Huffs Hopium Ah yeah that’s the stuff. So being a Car Enthusiast lately has been pretty daunting since it seems literally everything we do just leads to bankruptcy. Don’t get me wrong, we weren’t that great with money in the first place and this IS an expensive hobby, but then Inflation happened, then Gas Prices happened, then Car Insurance went up, then Car Mod Companies started raising their prices, the price of Steel went up, and obviously the price of Cars has just been going up for way longer then they had any business doing.
. I noticed some cars are Depreciating again. Hallelujah! Despite it being Summer Time, which is usually the highest time for Sports Cars Prices, we see a decent amount of Sports Coupes actually falling in price, pretty substantially too. This is completely counter to the stupidity we’ve witnessed in Winter when most cars hit their Peak High from November 2022 to February 2023.

Hopefully a gallardo goes to like 60-70k so i can get one. Can justify spending 70k on a gallardo rather than 100k
For sure! Im hoping "entry level supercars" become a thing again. So weird near 20yr old base models were 100k+

that's a _great_ sign

Unfortunately, stealerships are still up-charging for service/repairs on cars. I needed to have my alternator replace, and the dealership wanted $1,800. I found a repair manual online and found out that it isn't that hard to do it myself. I bought a remanufactured alternator for $350 and did it myself. Dealership prices on everything is literal pure bullshit.
Each contractor, mechanic or any other specialist will try to charge top dollar for their services. Doubtfully that you'd agree to work for low rate. Same dealerships. Try to estimate real time of alternator replacement plus a cost of brand new part plus fees here and there and you will receive more or less asked by them price. They might upsell though or do unnecessary work (extra money), but if you'll find the honest ones, you will not need to do car repairs by yourself any more.
@@AK.__ Your answer is the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. So I guess you're just ok with a dealership charging $500+ over for a part just in the name of "tOp dOlLaR!" and "sErViCe". And no dip sherlock, I did calculate the time and effort of installing the alternator and it doesn't make sense. All of the places I called said it was a 2.5 hr job and the pay for that actually does make a lot more sense than the bullshit price they charge for their parts. You answer just shows your lack of knowledge of anything about this and it's really sad and pathetic to be honest.
W H A T? 1800? I recently changed my clutch and starter which is honestly a lot of work (lifting the engine, pulling out the starter, then the gearbox and the clutch) and it cost me 700€ (~780$). How the fuck did they come up with 1800
@@deBussyLicker It very depends on specific cases, mechanic and overall dealership rules and atmosphere. I was quoted $1000 (!!!) for cosmetic work as grill replacement and part. Part costs $300, the rest of the work I can do myself in 1.5 hours. But dealer says "no, it very complex, we have to send the car to our body shop"....... I've done the work in the other dealer for $400 overall.
yeah inflation has hit repairs for sure. I still repair all of my vehicles thankfully. If space, time and knowledge is available, I recommend most to do it as well. Good to see you did the job on your own!
I just hope the drop in sales doesn't make the manufacturer think there's no demand and stop production on the cooler cars. Just because I don't value the Supra or GR86 above MSRP (or what some dealers claim MSRP is) doesn't mean I won't buy one for the right price
Ive been eyeing up a few newer sports cars, but they are just too high. The worst part is a lot of them are "no mods until its paid" too
THIS! Limited production and inflated prices don't make people buy our cars more?? hmmm. What a concept? I miss the days that you could go to a dealership and test drive a car before you put money down on it.
Let them kill their own brands tbh

I feel a huge problem we have as a society now is partially clout culture seeping into mainstream culture, but also having an impulsive buyers market. Since we had a "Car Shortage" people felt inclined to purchase now because it might not be available later. It felt very real when PS5's came out and you saw all those people scalping the prices on ebay. Thing is people were paying those prices no matter the fact everyone online said not to buy it. Impulse purchases were very prevalent in 2020 and 2021. The issue I'm seeing is that mentality is still there even though the availability is going up. The demand never went down when the supply started going up.
Impulse buying is also what those working in sales rely on
That hot rod in the beginning was sick 🥵🔥🥵
Lately my gf and I decided we just need one car for our everyday life, so we agreed that we can have a second car for the weekend and road trips. Everyone: *Going mental over $10 more on food*
Also everyone: *Completely fine with a car going up by $20,000*
It’s kinda valid though cause food is a necessity so people notice it more hence the daily expenditure shoots up but cars aren’t that essential so people are willing to wait and see what happens. Everyone knew the situation would cool down it was only a question of when.
I've been busting my ass for a hellcat and this has really given me hope, I've noticed small thousand dollar drops recently in all the cars listed on cargurus and Im hoping it drops hard into the average 40k range, I seriously want my dad to feel the power of a hellcat and relive his old muscle car days

Honda's are no longer the go to cheap car. Now it's the mustang 2010 and under. I have a 00's mustang and at the time, there was 2 other mustangs of the same year in my area. Now, I see 10 at the supermarket, 7 around my work place, literally an entire lot of 30+ of them at my old highschool parked near each other. I swear there are less Silverado's and F150's combined against the 00's mustang alone. They even beat all other year mustangs combined. Im upgrading my turbo setup and tires soon. I wont tell you where but if you're driving through, you have a 90% chance to be surrounded by mustangs and if you're in a mustang, you've joined the pack, even if it's for 15 minutes.

Great advices, thank you. So do not be greedy, there are many factors involved in cars pricing. If you need a car or want a car - go and buy it. Cause who knows what will be in the next few months.
I had to just take a 2016 Camaro ss that was dented for 23 k everyone else wanted 30k for the same car
As far as I know, CarGurus doesn't "project" prices. They use the prices dealers are putting on them, to create a "trend line" using Price vs Mileage for each model year.
This creates a function that can predict the value. But it is crucial to understand that the price drops are initiated by the dealers.
May sound counter intuitive, but if a dealer can sell a car faster by showing them as "Great Value" and unlock their capital to get more inventory, they'll drop the price.
Seeing the C5 and C6 be more affordable than a GT86 while being something you can build for 200mph with little effort makes me happy. Too bad I already replaced my GT86 with an RX8
