    It's no longer equal opportunity country, used to be you could work hard and save, maybe open a small business or afford a few night classes, no longer Tru, have to work a few jobs just for basic survival, or even from childhood, public school so behind now, opportunity is now depending on what womb your born into, wealthy or poor. So much lost talent and opportunities, especially for our kids futures so sad.

    • @ChickenCaesarSalad
      @ChickenCaesarSalad 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cara Crabtree it also depends on what job you go into, how good your people skills are, how good you are at your job, your experience on the job, how much you work, and where you work (location). Do u think an entry level sales position should make the same as the accountant? Do u believe in equal opportunity or equal outcome? Why could people rely on the government for their income as opposed to providing more working opportunities?

      I wasn't born into a particularly wealthy family. I never broke the $30,000/year salary mark until I was 30 years old.
      The main problem is that people constantly try to live beyond their means. They seem to need to "own" expensive cars,, have a ritzier house/apartment than they need, $1,000+ Iphones, too many dogs to feed, blow it on cigarettes and booze, crank the air conditioning, go to expensive colleges because they like how the place looks.... boy, I could go on a really long time regarding this.
      There's something to be said about Grandma's rotary dial phone that hung on the wall for fifty years. Now people have the predilection to buy these gizmos that cost a grand and only expect to get a year out of it before they break it.

Bernie himself also claims his tax plan will affect anyone with an income of 29,000 and above. Socalism swaps the 1%, and the middle class takes a beating somewhere in between. One need only look at the United Kingdom to see what government housing is like. Large swaths of inner cities in the North and Midlands are Stalinist dystopian nightmares.
    But to make a larger point, just because people need a thing does not mean people have a right to a thing. Yes, we all need food, but when has a “right” to food ever been supported by argument? If you want to claim a right to something, you have to actually make the argument, not merely assert it. We certainly have a need to obtain food for ourselves and our families( or clothing, or housing etc) through lawful means, but why would we have a right to just get food through public subsidy? If ALL of our physical needs are rights that must be provided by public subsidy, then government will be ENORMOUS. It will tyrannize.

    • @mzismamacow
      @mzismamacow 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jonathan LeBlanc what about all of OUR SUBSIDIES to the wealthy class?? Subsidies to the fossil fuel industry, to Big Corps, to Big Pharma, military industrial complex, medical industrial complex, etc.? That’s all fine and dandy, right?
      In 2015, we (US) gave $649 BILLION for direct and indirect SUBSIDIES for coal, oil, and gas in the US, according to IMF reports (IMF-least known for being environmentally friendly). On top of that, same year, we funneled $599 BILLION in Pentagon’s military spending. Those figures have ONLY been INCREASING year after year.
      Please justify how we (as a society, as a country) can spend money like that on things that are fundamentally wreaking havoc in the world and destroying our planet and not to UPLIFT our people in our country? We haven’t even gone into true $$$ figues in subsidies we spend in other prominent industries... all common denominator benefiting the wealthy class.
      Btw, these kind of $$$ subsidies are the ONLY thing Republicans AND Democrats seem to agree and come together in passing peacefully. No surprise, they represent the wealthy class... not us 99%ers.
      Then ppl like AOC who are actually doing her JOB (instead of fundraising BRIBES from the wealthy) are getting push back from ppl like you who. No matter, she will still fight for you, bcoz she’s doing her job fighting for us 99%ers-the ppl... our representation.
      ...unless you are in the royalty 1% class.
      Otherwise, buckle up and wake up to the sign of the times.

    • @mzismamacow
      @mzismamacow 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You asked for an argument... here is mine:
      Poverty should NOT EXIST in a society and we human beings are advanced enough to know that it is a glaring symptom of a socioeconomic and political crisis/issue in OUR society for US to RESOLVE.
      In this way, we are ALL ACCOUNTABLE for this problem if it exists in our society-if we truly are a democracy-INEQUALITY and INJUSTICE are OUR failures/shortcomings in OUR society and it is our CIVIC DUTY to address these issues and TAKE ACTION to ADDRESS them until they are resolved.
      Thanks to Trump’s permanent tax cuts for the wealthy class, giant monopolies like Amazon paid $0 in federal taxes in 2018... AND received $129 MILLION tax rebate ($$$ check /handout from the gov’t-not bcoz they overpaid in taxes as is the case for tax refund, but an arbitrary $$$ handout amount decided by the Gov’t... courtesy of the people... you know, the rest of US who actually PAY taxes(!!)) The wealthy class are breaking the backs of the middle/working class-NOT the poor(!)
      We live in an oligarchy... not a democracy.
      It is destroying this country w/it’s insatiable greed and destroying our planet.
      All things scarier than supporting public goods that intentionally will UPLIFT impoverished communities to a path towards self-sufficiency, healthy living, overall stability and productivity of family units and less susceptibility to crime... all the while being environmentally conscious and humane.
      Oh, and in the long run, it will not only pay for the initial investment cost but reduce what it costs us to sustain the cost of how we address poverty now (throwing some money at it and LOOKING AWAY).
      PS: Unless you are part of the wealthy class, then like the 99%ers of this country, you are one devastating medical illness/condition/injury or layoff away from poverty EVERY second of your American Dream life.

    There's nothing wrong with things being free. Every problem there is can be narrow down to not having enough money. If they are not for things being free then they are for control. Yet it supposed to be the land of the free and home of the brave. Although that's what we thought but I guess not. If you are not free and independent then you are a slave being dependent on them.

      @@mzk123ify Robots. Just keep in mind nothing can be free as long an economy main function is the use of money as a means of exchange. Free and money do not go hand to hand. But yes everyone working to pay for these "free" things for people who don't want to work for what they have should also stop working and let the robots have them. Robots taking jobs is a good thing, not a bad thing that most people portrait it to be. It's a bad thing if your livelihood depends on you having that job to make ends meet and you are forced out of work due to being technologically unemployed. But that's just it, the ultimate root of the problem which happens to be job dependency. Too many people depend on having jobs but not enough of getting ahead in life. Job dependency is why there are so many struggles. No one should ever be forced to struggle in trying to survive the rat race when they should just simply live their lives the way they see fit. Not what society tells them to do. Robots would be far more efficient and more than happy to serve you. If robots did most of everything then you can think of your life as a vacation on a resort. Just being provided services free of charge.

      @@LukewarmEnthusiast I see a different picture. Overpopulation. Supply and demand apply to labor rates just as they apply to materials. A generation ago, people were having kid(s) because: they wanted to, or they were unplanned. Nobody thought, "I should have a kid because there will be an American labor shortage." And now we have too many in the workforce. Some manufacturing jobs were outsourced overseas, and some have been lost to automation. Some studied and got rich. Some inherited. Most didn't. And they're jealous. They see what the rich have; they hear the politicians promise, and their sense of entitlement kicks in.
      OK - I'm done ranting. Tell me: what's the correct wealth gap? And who decides? A politician looking for votes, or the market? Wages stay flat because there are people willing to work for that wage. If Worker #1 says, I'll do the job for $15/hr, but Worker #2 says, I'll do the job for $7.50/hr. who would the employer hire?
      Also, the unemployment rate is only loosely affected by people working two, three or more jobs.
      The formula for unemployment rate is: Unemployment Rate = Number of Unemployed Persons / Labor Force.

    These billionaires employ most of America and this is how they contribute to the tax collection. Grant you they need to pay a flat tax for their earnings but not tax them so much they leave the US. If these people get their way most of the people in this country with serious money will leave this country and abandon or close the businesses in the US in which they own. This will stop all the tax dollars their business generates.
