    My interview was very straightforward. With the US CPB officer it was super quick, he only needed to see my passport and drivers license. For CBSA, the officer asked if I have ever had fingerprints taken so I said yes for my PR application but what he meant was if there are any on file from a criminal record lol
    But overall it was a very quick interview for something I’ve been waiting for 3 years to conduct (bc of pandemic) 😷

      Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s good that you mentioned that fingerprints were for PR and not for other reasons😀

      You betcha! Not only were the CBSA and CPB in the same building, they were in the same office and sat side by side to each other. This allowed them to resolve issues and clarify any technical questions quickly.
      The close proximity is quite the contrast compared to how completely inaccessible it was for applicants over the last 3 years because of the pandemic just to get an interview to complete the final part of the NEXUS application lol

    I have my interview tomorrow. Thanks for the info. I recently applied for my husband and put through his application last week. When I did it I’m not sure if I filled it in right. He was born in Hong Kong when it was under British rule. So he had ( it’s has since expired ) a British passport. When I was filling in his application , I didn’t even think about it and said he only had one citizenship. I can’t figure out if in fact, he does have a second citizenship. He has a Hong Kong birth certificate but he is not of Chinese descent ( he’s south Asian ). He’s not a citizen of Britain … so I’m thinking, he only has one citizenship (Canadian ). Can’t figure this one out.

    • @natashtepa
      @natashtepa  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi there! That’s a really good question! It can be tricky with the countries or territories that changed the name or jurisdiction. But in your case, I think you provided all information to the best of your knowledge. If your husband only has Canadian citizenship now, and doesn’t have UK citizenship, you stated everything correctly.
      The officers might ask your husband about where he was born or whether he ever had other citizenships - in this case it would make sense to elaborate and tell them what you described here.
      The interview is more of a conversation rather than a test of your application knowledge:) so answer the questions they ask calmly, be concise, don’t dive too deep into explanations - just a “question-answer” format.

    I have a question, I am Canadian, living in Canada. I'm conditionally approved and I'm travelling to the US on April 20th, coming back to Vancouver on May 6th. Everywhere I read it's kind of conveyed that I need to take the Canadian portion of the interview and then the US portion. But I wonder if I can take the US portion first before I depart to the US, and only then, when I land back, the Canadian portion? That's because there are not appointments available for the Canadian portion before my next flight to the US. Thank you!

    • @natashtepa
      @natashtepa  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! I’m terms of order of interviews, it seems that Canadian part needs to go first before the US part.
      You can also try to schedule a joint interview for both Canadian and US side at the same time - this can be done at land border crossings. This would be a location in US and would probably require a separate road trip for you, depending on where you reside.

    • @natashtepa
      @natashtepa  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there, Unfortunately, there’s no option to book an interview for the whole family through single process. There are several work around.
      On of the solutions would be to book each interview through your individual portals, but for the adjacent time slots. When you arrive for your interview, you may ask the officers to conduct the interview for the whole family at the same, but it is up to the officer to decide.
      You may also try to call in advance to your enrolment Center, but there’s no guarantee they will be able to do it for you🤷🏼

      2. Split interview in Canadian land centre followed by US land centre
      3. 2-step interview in Canadian airport enrolment centre.

      We’ve replied to your comment under another video. Passport is a mandatory document for nexus interview

    My husband and our elementary-aged son and I all have our interviews next week at the same time. Will we all be interviewed together? Or will my husband and I be separated and our son go with one of us? I'm really nervous but I don't know why!

      Hi there, if you booked your interviews from separate accounts, then you will have them with separate officers. It shouldn’t matter much though - if they are scheduled at the same time, you’ll be close to each other but will be talking to different people. This shouldn’t affect your interview results in any way. Try to be calm and answer precisely what they ask. It’s going to be like a conversation, all based on the information you provided in your application, so they won’t be asking something you don’t know:)
      Best of luck and let us know how it goes!

      Thank you!! I assume they won't make our kid interview alone, will they?? He's not even 7 yet. 😬

      @@sunbakedbear they actually have a requirement that a minor needs to be accompanied by their parent. So if one you takes your child through an interview, it is totally acceptable.

      @@natashtepa A few updates! We went today for our interviews (thanks for helping calm my nerves! It was a piece of cake). They took our whole family together but asked if it was okay that we were interviewed together or if we wanted to be interviewed separately. They DO require both your passport AND birth certificate now; this is a recent change and you must have both (apparently before they were letting people through with just a passport but now they're saying that's changed/changing). Also, if you've had a name change, they require the name change certificate, which also isn't stated on the website. (I thankfully took mine "just in case" as a last-minute grab as we dashed out the door!) They're now saying it's four weeks until cards will be shipped.

      @@sunbakedbear Hi, did you mean birth certificate of the child? My son is 15 years old and not born in Canada? We have the interview coming up, so was wondering, and as usual I’m a bag of nerves

      It’s pretty straight forward. Just takes some time to be processed, but benefits of time saved at security checks are very notable! Have you already submitted your application or just planning to apply?

      i think it was pretty easy. 10-12 mins - including the finger prints. but i can see it being intimidating for some, as the officer may be overly confident and speaks firmly (not rude) to you. i was told i was approved at the end, and afterward, i spent at least 3-4 mins asking him questions.

      That’s great! How long did it take you to be invited to the interview? And how much time did it take for your Nexus card to get delivered?
