Hellcat ESCAPES @180+mph

  • Stolen Charger & Challenger Hellcats run from State Troopers. Law Enforcement Pursuits are usually 5.7L 345 V8 Hemi or 3.6L V6 Chargers or Ford Explorers which puts them at a massive disadvantage chasing Hellcats both Charger and/or Challenger. The Hellcat has a 6.2L Supercharged V8 Hemi making 700+hp - almost double the 5.7L V8 Hemi. The Hellcat top speeds can exceed 180+mph again making it hard for pursuits to keep up (which top out at 155mph).
How do Police Pursuits catch Hellcats in a chase on open HWY at night? It's almost impossible unless you give them faster cars.

I think giving the cops faster cars will only increase the danger of these chases to the public as well as the police, if most of these chases involve stolen vehicles then they need to find a better way to track the criminals which will lead to the cars location when it is parked. Sad truth is there are way too many criminals in our society these days and it is only going to get worse.

There is a time and a place to settle who has the faster ride and it is not in heavy traffic or any traffic if one can help it. Seems that everyone has a cell phone these days. I live in a rural area and back in the day we would make arrangements to meet at a certain location, do what we had to do and take the back roads home, but back then there were no cellphones, and our population was less that it is today. Also running from the cops wasn't a felony and they enjoyed the chase as much as we did and most of their patrol cars topped out at 140 unless they had a hemi or a sixpack, I had a hemi so I never got caught and only once did I have a patrol car that was gaining on me until they came to a corner at speed and for some strange reason they decided to go out into a cornfield and chase deer or racoons, I'm not sure which as I didn't go back to ask.

I have a Ford Edge with a twin turbo V6. I happened across this guy in an Audi that likes to race on his way home. We had several 100 mph plus encounters on urban streets where the limits are 30 - 45 mph. Adrenaline fun has limited returns . About eight weeks ago the Audi guy disappeared. Not sure what happened but I hope he is ok.

My opinion is chasing. Stolen vehicles is not worth the risk to the public. They are insured. Let the owner collect from the insurance company. Having one car going 180 mph is bad. Having it being chased by a trooper, also going 180mph quadruples the chances of a tragedy happening. They should only be allowed to chase in the event of a serious felony. ( ie: kidnapping/ abduction) or serious injury to a person or persons.

They shouldnt be chasing them for minor problems, period. I think the police cruisers should be limited at 90mph to deter these high speed chases, ego takes over and then someone gets hurt.

You have to be able to drive at that speed. Love it! But not when it's stolen. I like the videos where the Challenger/Charger baits the cops and then outruns them.

Cops have ruled long enough it's about time we out ran our on tax dollars..... I think it's incredibly funny how all these cops are just rough on the police cars and everything that they use but taxpayers will buy all that so if we can't afford to pay for the cops to have something faster maybe like the dude in the video says they need to figure something out cuz how much can we help them before they do something.

I don’t think police need a faster car , a car got stolen the criminals got away , they will be caught sooner or later. But also no one ways hurt . So if you give police faster cars the pursuit goes on longer which puts the public and officers in more danger. How many cars would have been going 180+ in these videos if the police had faster cars ? Do your job but come home safe

  • @MrDamien1963

What people got to realize everyone that runs isn’t criminals it’s just the fact that these cops pick and choose who they wanna stop and what they wanna do so individuals choose to use their fast cars and not be the victim and a group of people I know choose not to be the victim

Disagree completely. I think the authorities shouldn't take the bait and chase these guys. The chance of them catching the HellCat's is so slim, it's not worth them taking the chance of innocent collateral damage. If they didn't take the bait and make chase, there would be no crazy driving. Eventually these guys will make a mistake.

You also probably don't agree with the idiots that think people are supposed to be ready and move right over when cop comes up on them at 150 for their 70. Or think that it is so smart when cops cut to the right nearly causing accidents for the people that are trying to get over to the right. So much wrong with all of this. Cops need to cool it unless there is a real good reason to chase someone.

Police departments need to look at other means of apprehension methods besides pursuit. Many companies developed propellants which wrap a cord around the subjects tires and effectively stop the vehicle

Here in Atlanta they have a pretty crafty way of doing it. They just show up on your doorstep. No kidding and kick your door in. Take your car and take people to jail. Their camera system is pretty good down here. There’s so many cameras not unless you’re someplace out out side on some old dark road😂 oh yeah, I just ordered a Whipple for my vehicle should be in within the next two weeks😎👍

for the most part pursuits are pointless, stupid and dangerous. get the plate and back off. if not oh well get them another time. i dont want my tax money spent for faster police vehicles. it wont stop people from running. itll just make things more unsafe. its time to make it a federal law of no chase policies with certain exceptions. takeovers i do have a problem with. theyre disruptive and unsafe. perhaps have a police presence at common spots but unfortunately they cant be everywhere. i want to know why ASP has people running constantly where i hardly ever hear about this where im from. perhaps its because for the most part cops dont waste their time on this crap and are concentrating on actual crimes?
