Same here. It was the season ending episode where he was shot and you didn't know if he made it or not. Great scene. Couldn't find the scene on TH-cam. But the song fit
Same here, I watched every episode of Magnum pi. I have all the series as my kids have been giving me them for Christmas. Got to watch him in Hawaii filming a episode on the beach playing volleyball. After the episode Limbo, I recorded the song from the show. One of the local DJ's helped identify it for me. I wish I could get a copy of Limbo but as far as I know, they still haven't released it.😢
as a very, very young child growing up in snowy MN, I would sit and listen to John Denver albums...over and over...for hours...Looking for Space was one that would make me tear up...as a 4/5 year old...His music was just that real, rich and touching....
Me too. Childhood in Minnesota spent listening to my parents' John Denver albums over and over and over. This song is vying for my all time favorite of his.
I was doing the same thing in Southern California. I’d play my parent’s records of John Denver and Neil Diamond. I was doing some work in Seaside on the day John died. I was so sad. I thought he must have flown right over me before he died. I miss him.
I was not in MN back then like I am now. Stacked the JD albums on the turn table to listen to a whole stack to bring joy, peace and relaxation. I have been listening to his music tonight for about 3 hours and still not filled up
Have you ever heard a guy sing with such clarity as this guy, crystal clear and with such harmony , i'm really struggling to even think of a singer who comes anywhere near to this voice, it wasn't in my era but my god i wish it had been, we just don't seem to have these kind of quality singers nowadays, what an incredible talent this guy was
Mikey Drake Smith you have amazing taste in music. Don’t wish it was your era tho because that would make you that much older lol Listening to John Denver right now and longing for my younger days..
@@brurade Isn't that the rock solid truth. About JDs talent AND being older. I graduated high school in '75 when this album, perhaps his best some would argue, came out.
Lost my 4 yr old son tragically over 3 years ago and fell into deep despair. This song helped me heal to the point where I am today. The words communicate a beautiful message to me and helped provide answers I desperately needed. Thanks John for helping not to stay in the bad place I was in. Brings me tears so often when I hear it.
Flying over Rockies many times in a year, How can I not sing his songs along with Danny Fogelberg….. GOD, I wish they were still with us.. Please take care them both!
When one hears JD, it feels that the words are coming out from your inner self or own soul. So connecting and natural. No other singer comes even 10 percent close to him.
I was looking for space for eight years after losing my mother and only brother in the same year and this song helped me make it through ... Thanks John
Couple of weeks ago, my 36-year-old son called me saying that he felt a little bit lost. I told him to go sit in his riverside cabana and listen to this song. He texted me later telling me thanks for the relieving cry😢.
Mine, too...when I hit the Rockies, my JD cds hit the cd player in my car and this song expresses exactly how I feel when I'm surrounded by their majesty...it's bittersweet because it so sad that he's left this earth...his music touches every piece of my soul. :)
I just watched the final episode of Magnum PI -- Season 7 where Magnum dies, and walks off into the clouds while this song was playing . . . It was intended to be the series finale, but then they did Season 8. Still, this song brought a tear to my eye, and I really miss JD. Odd, too, that he died flying out into space . . .
His Christmas album with the Muppets was one of my earliest memories. As I got older I warmed to the rest of his music. He also cared deeply about wildlife & environmental issues. So his death was indeed a huge loss.
Isn't it wild how a song can trigger memories. Growing up as a kid in the 1970s, mom had John's albums playing constantly. I can remember sitting in the playroom carving an apple for my new shrunken head kit. Wow, that's bizarre but it's amazing how we hear a song 1000 times as a kid but one time sticks in your mind. We grew up on the best music!
Many wonderful artisits with angelic voices but JD had the best for me. A very special singer that wrote so many songs that touched so many in so many fitting ways. His songs bring many tears sometimes but I thank God for giving us this wonderful singer song writer. He has to have a special place !
This tune is so relatable in anyone's life who is struggling with life's issues. John Denver was an American treasure in our history of humanity and music. R.I.P. John Denver 🙏❤️
I've always listened to lyrics. So much music just doesn't touch you with it's lyrics the way this song can and so many of his songs. Iced passed this song down to my 26yr old daughter who "gets it". JD was an incredible artist who never got the place in music history that he deserves.
I miss him so much! Cool, crisp, well written, meaningful, loving lyrics and music. He continues to have relevance in all our lives, even in his absence.
I discovered this song only about 6 years ago and it has morphed into Of my all time favorite songs. It gives me such a profound sense of joy and hope even in the darkest times
I got this feeling long ago when I was away from home studying. Now I'm much older and I have this feeling again, after years of struggling and finally having some of my dreams start to come together. I've been through hell. I'm still smelling of sulfur but I have hope for the first time in forever, after so many rug-pulls.
Höre diesen Song zum ersten Mal und frage mich, warum er relativ unbekannt ist, denn er ist wunderschön,richtig zu Herzen gehend.Auch die wunderbare Stimme von John Denver kommt hier so richtig zur Geltung.
I LOVE THIS SONG!!! He wrote it about the est Training in the '70s, which I experienced in 1976. It changed my life. As a 21 year old I learned: We created our own reality. Life is a mirror. Needs and wants distinction. At that time I began my becoming a clear and powerful woman. I am so grateful for those day. Tears now. :)
This and Sweet Surrender, songs of youth and solitude and searching, made the 70s, my 20s idyllic. You can always go back there on TH-cam and enjoy fellow comments.
On the road of experience, I'm trying to find my own way. Sometimes I wish that I could fly away. When I think that I'm moving, suddenly things stand still. I'm afraid cause I think they always will. And I'm looking for space and to find out who I am, and I'm looking to know and understand. It's a sweet, sweet dream, sometimes I'm almost there. Sometimes I fly like an eagle and sometimes I'm deep in despair. All alone in the universe, sometimes that's how it seems. I get lost in the sadness and the screams. Then I look in the center and suddenly everything's clear. I find myself in the sunshine and my dreams And I'm looking for space and to find out who I am, and I'm looking to know and understand. It's a sweet, sweet dream, sometimes I'm almost there. Sometimes I fly like an eagle and sometimes I'm deep in despair. On the road of experience, join in the living day. If there's an answer it's just that it's just that way, When you're looking for space and to find out who you are. When you're looking to try and reach the stars. It's a sweet, sweet dream, sometimes I'm almost there. Sometimes I fly like an eagle and sometimes I'm deep in despair.

Well said. This is an extraordinarily beautiful song.
Same goes for the inverse, really. Helps keep things in perspective for me, and to remember that things will eventually get better when they go awry.
Beautiful description of this song

I saw John every opportunity I had from 1979 forward. I lost track at 17 concerts. His voice now still a treasure we all enjoyed and miss terribly.
How much I would give to see a concert.

He Left us too early. Unforgettable music that will survive for many many years
His music touched so many people. Life was so much simpler then. I miss our innocence.

John Denver will always be remembered for so many generations...
One of Very Few, who truly sang from the heart. You know because it resonates through you.
So sad he's gone. What a gift. A part of us went with him.
Yep.
Yes a piece of each of us who loved/love his message and music went down that October Sunday evening.
John Denver is a legend and his legacy will never die. His music is timeless.
His Christmas album with the Muppets was one of my earliest memories. As I got older I warmed to the rest of his music. He also cared deeply about wildlife & environmental issues. So his death was indeed a huge loss.
Fortunately, he left behind a biggest part of himself with us... for generations to come.
