When opening apps, iPhone Pros run at 120Hz, but when scrolling through content feeds, they drop to 80Hz. The transition between these refresh rates can cause a noticeable difference and even some screen tearing.
Most of our interactions with the phone is scrolling, which is only at 80Hz.
This is probably done to save battery, but Apple should give users the option to choose. For example, adding a toggle to enable 120Hz across the entire system would be a good solution.

I dont get people defending this because of battery life
I payed for 120hz and i whant 120hz when scrolling
Yes it dosent effect me in anyway but it annoys me.
I switched from the s24 and it just feelt smother and faster because of the constant 120hz
Dont tell, yeah but battery life… fuck that. Get a Samsung or any 120hz android and try it.

This is just ProMotion, they demonstrated the variable refresh rate of the LTPO display. It changes refresh rate as needed during animations so that the image always looks smooth while using less frames, and therefore less battery. It can even drop to 1hz if you're just reading an article or a static image. It will definitely run at 120fps on games and whatnot.
Also, I find it difficult to believe people are genuinely having any difficulty using iPhones for their lower refresh rate. It's already funny enough they felt like pro models were choppy out of the placebo effect, but I use a 144hz monitor all the time and have a 120hz iPad, but I've never cared that my phone is at 60 hertz.
