used this today with all extensions, large foot and small foot to push out damage on a garbage truck canopy. had issues with it not pumping the ram. make sure hyd fluid is free of air bubbles (take line off ram and press against the ground and pump) make sure its full... once i did that, all was well. pushed out some serious dents in a canopy
This is one of the most versatile tools you can have. Not just Auto/Body. Construction work (moving a wall an inch to square it up). Removing a twisted box blade from a tractor. Pulling T-Post fence posts. Removing or installing Hydraulic rams. The jobs this tool can do are near endless. I have a big "name brand" one, and it needs a new hydraulic extension cylinder (bought it that way at an estate sale). It costs almost as much as this whole kit from HF. Personally I recommend the bigger of the 2 at HF. Once and done, and like I said, it's the same price as the replacement pieces on the "name brand" one.
Yea their pretty good, bought one from eBay once, couldn't get the dam thing to work, had issues with valve system, getting stuck .Bought one from harbor freight 7 yrs ago, doing good so far.
I have both and they have been a time saver on some jobs. Never had any issue with them. A great product for the certain jobs. Nice review Pete and Minnie.
i used porta power at home to push out a chassis leg on my rear engine 74 skoda. put two sill clamps on the sills (rockers) and pushed on the engine mounting bar that bolts to the very rear of the chassis legs, came out great. they are a great versatile tool you can use for all sorts on mad stuff if you can think outside the box as well. the UK version over here came with a free rebuild kit.
I have 4 porta-powers in my shop and 2 of them are Harbor Freight models. I have the small set and the big set like you featured and I have had great results with them both. Funny thing is that I actually used the smaller one today and once again it saved my butt. Great video Pete!!!
Great vid..thanks for sharing. Hope the oil canning was not an isssue. For those purchasing any hydraulic jack... check the fluid level of the jack before using. Many manufactures do not completely fill the resevoir to working level. Top with recommended fluid and it will work as engineered. There is a bit of fluid loss each time the ram is disconnected from the pump. So check fluid level and top up as needed before reuse. Best to you and yours Pete amd Minnie.
Used one of those to push out a VW bus sliding side door that had been hit and repaired several times but just with bondo. Same plan using scrap wood on the opposite side to push against. Worked like a charm. Plenty of power! You can actually find replacement seals for the rams, pump, etc. online. Helps if they are marked but you can also chat with the sellers and find the right seals.
I got the electric impact driver you said was good. I took a I beam to radius nut off like a charm after wrenching on it to no avail. Very powerful tool for 100dollars. Good luck looks like your getting it going, thanks
I bought this set because of this video. When I opened it up the paint was flaking off and it didn’t work pass 2 inches. I just returned it lol. All I wanted to do was pop the dent that’s on the hatch of my 98 4Runner. I’ll keep looking or if I admit defeat I’ll take it to a body shop.
Love tools this is another tool once you've worked with it it's priceless portaband was one I just turned one of my friends on to once you work with the tool holding your hand it's definitely different. If you don't have it and you come up with a job you always be thinking about it 😜 yep some tools just make things soooooo much better good tool to have.
You do some great work friend. But at the end of the day your hands can tell a million story’s. Every cut mark, burn, blister, And grease. The paint fumes in the lungs and the Paint thinner soaking through your skin. But I wouldn’t change anything 👍
Can anyone tell me if the cylinders used in these kits have a spring return? Do they retract on their own or do they need gravity/assistance of some sort?
The weak part is the fitting between the hose and the attachment poor quality brittle, & you can't find it anywhere otherwise it's as good as one costing 10 x that
i was watching a video were they were doing torque testing on torque wrenches they had snap on , craftmen, then some other brand then they had the 100 dollar torque wrench from habor freight the worse was snap on way off the specks the habor freight was the closes to being right real close the guy putting on the video was amazed on the test it seemed the more u pay the worse they were even i was saying wtf . when do body work i use all sorts of stuff even tree's all types of jacks in my shop i have hooks in the floor that fold up to be flush with the floor they work great i just can't wait till i get a lift because i do mech. work and body work
to bad you couldn't scab a roof on it, but being a vw purist myself I always try to message original metal, maybe thats what the new owner of ole maxwell wanted
I use similar product items in my work but that's to post tension walls during excavation but they cost like $2500 and up. Why does anyone even shop at harbour freight to? If you too cheap to buy the right tools you shouldn't be doing the job that's why there's professionals that invest the money in good tools to get the job done...
@@danh2134 yea they also have cheap house builders just spend your money on junk I'd bet it's leaking already seals blown out. Professionals pay for tools that work everyday for years not one beetle
Even if you only got a few uses out of this tool, it will have paid for itself. For someone who just does their own repairs or repairs for family/friends, Harbor Freight stuff is not bad. SOME of their stuff is junk but not all.
The 10 ton is now $259.99, and the 10 ton professional is $349.99! Outrageous increase in price in such a short time!
Pete is the reason im working in collision repair now. Learned more from him than I did from the guy who "trained" me

I just purchased one from a Canadian supplier, $85 bucks. (approx $60 usd) Can't wait to get to work on my truck. Thanks for the demo.
I could've used this when replacing my posts on my porch......used a bottle jack & 4x4 instead. Watch ......Listen .....&......Learn! Thanks Pete

Been doing this with a $30 floor jack and a 4x4 for years!
Me too. But sometimes I use a pipe with it also.
that can only reach so far though
$30 10 ton floor jack?
Wow. It worked great Pete. . Congrats. I know you done an amazing job on my x wife's car in Dallas. I couldn't believe it.

Bought one from HF a couple of years ago. Great tool!!
Not everything from harbor freight is good but there’s just some things that are awesome 👏

Nice demonstration. Pushing it with your legs could work too. L/S/C

Why couldn't you use a small floor jack with a four by four up right with a square piece metal on to count pump handle when going up.
Hi Pete and Minnie Great video. i love all of your videos i painted my own car watching ur video thanks a lot. from Stockton California.
20 ton is way overkill, but handy to have all the extensions !
Wow, nice job Pete and Mini. I love Harbor Freight too👍
wow I had know idea these tools existed, great result
H. F . tools are ok . You can get parts some times by calling the number in the book if the have a parts list.
Great video. I have the same dent on my bug. Looks like I’ll be buying this
Could you imagine waking to that voice everyday omg
Talking about the ad

my uncle made one of those he called it a porta power
my friend Pete the KING.
That dent popping out reminded me of Christine.
@Mark Greenfield Christine the movie.
The thing I see is where would you start to push it back into place . I suppose there’s a lot of places to start with man it’s crushed pretty good
Jesus is my savior G S castle probably goes first in last out....

Thanks sr!.
Floor jack and a piece of 4x4 wood
Isn't that roof beyond repair?? Better change it?
Nice! Impressive! 👍
Thanks Pete. Love your videos!
D.I.Y. AUTO SCHOOL, That does a nice job. Do you still have your Black Bug?
